TY - CONF A1 - Fritz, Gerd T1 - Coherence in hypertext T2 - Pragmatics & beyond ; N.s., 63, Coherence in spoken and written discourse : how to create it and how to describe it ; selected papers from the International Workshop on Coherence, Augsburg, 24 - 27 April 1997 / Wolfram Bublitz, Uta Lenk, Eija Ventola N2 - At first sight hypertext does not look !ike a good subject for research on coherence. Hypertext is non-linear text, and coherence is typically defined for linear text. So coherence does not seem to be involved in hypertext at all. But on closer inspection it emerges that some of the basic structural problems with hypertexts are classical problems of coherence.
