N2  - Despite the everyday presence of disasters in the media and a growing number of disaster movies made in Germany, there is only a small amount of disaster literature in contemporary German writing. This article aims to explore, how disasters are enacted in different ways in contemporary novels, film and media in German language by comparing Frank Schätzing’s beststeller “Der Schwarm”, Tomas Glavinic’s “Die Arbeit der Nacht” and the movie “Die Sturmflut.”
