N2  - The article deals with correlation at the syntactic level between German and Slovak language. It is focused on correlatives in both languages, their function and their use in subordinate clauses. The correlation signalizes the integration of a subordinate clause into a main clause. Correlation as a reciprocal interdependence of linguistic units is typical for hypotaxis and indicates integration of a subordinate clause into the structure of the main sentence. The use of correlatives is dependent on syntactic relevant features of verbs (valence, or intention predicates, which is approved in Slovak language) and is more or less enrooted in grammar (it concerns mainly object clauses). In both languages the use of correlatives is obligatory in the case of some verbs under certain syntactic, semantic or communicative conditions.
