N2  - In einem ersten Abschnitt werden das Berufsfeld, die Kernbereiche und die durch den Technologiewandel forcierten Erweiterungs- und Konvergenztendenzen der Informationsberufe Archiv, Bibliothek, Information und Dokumentation betrachtet. Aus dem ständigen Anstieg der Bandbreite der beruflichen Anforderungen und Einsatzmöglichkeiten resultiert die Forderung nach Ergänzung der Generalistenausbildung durch den Ausbau der Spezialisierungsangebote und der Flexibilisierung der Ausbildung. Der zweite Abschnitt skizziert unter dem Aspekt der Realisierbarkeit dieser Forderungen den institutionellen. rechtlichen und personellen Rahmen und die Strukturbedingungen des Lehr-, Studien- und Prüfungssystems, vor allem der gegenwärtigen deutschen Bibliothekarausbildung auf Fachhochschulebene. Ein dritter Abschnitt entwickelt als Resumee den Vorschlag einer integrierten Ausbildung der Informationsberufe und deren zusätzliche Kombinationsmöglichkeit mit dem Studium in anderen Fachbereichen (z.B. Wirtschaft udgl.) , um durch eine modulare Ausbildung nach dem Baukastenprinzip in den Überlappungs- und Spezialisierungsbereichen Flexibilität und Professionalität in der Ausbildung mit der Bereitstellung von Absolventen für die verschiedensten fachlich unspezifischen wie spezifischen Berufseinsatzfelder verbinden zu können.
N2  - Generalist and Speclalist. Thoughts on a new structuring of the Education for the Information Professions In the first part, the professional requirements. the areas of focus and the expanding and merging tendencies the information professions of Archive, Library, information and documentation as a result of the technological transition will be presented. From the steady rise of the wide scope of professional demands and Job possibilities, the demand arises for supplementing generalist training through the further development of specialization possibilities the inclusion ot more flexibility within the training program. Under the aspect of being able to put these demands into effect, the second part sketches the institutional, legal, and personell context and the structural conditions required for the teaching, studying and examination Systems, primarily of the German library training at the polytechnic level. The third part develops the suggestlon of an lntegrated training program for the information professionals and their addltional possibilites for combining this Course of study with that in another faculty for instance, commerce etc.). This would enable combining flexibility and professionality through a modular training according to the building blocks technique in the overlapping and the specialist areas by providing graduates for the most diverse areas of professionally relevant and non-relevant employment.
