Während er diese verschiedenen Paradigmen durch den Geschmacksbegriff noch zu vereinen sucht, zeigt die deutsche Rezeption seiner Theorie, insbesondere Gottlob Benedikt von Schirachs Übertragung, wie sich der Kompromiss aufzulösen beginnt und wie sich neben der Durchsetzung der Individualstilpoetik auch eine Trennung zwischen Wissenschaft und Kunst anbahnt.
N2  - In his "Poétique française" (1763) and his "Eléments de littérature" (1787), the French poet and theorist Jean-François Marmontel develops notions of style which are influenced by traditional rule-governed poetics but gradually hint at a transition to a poetics of individual style. While he still seeks to unite these different paradigms through the concept of taste, the German reception of his theory, especially Gottlob Benedikt von Schirach's translation, shows how the compromise begins to dissolve and how, in addition to the implementation of a poetics of individual style, a separation between science and art is also starting to appear.
