N2  - The paper deals with the phenomenon of emotion (the emotion of joy) in a religious text (The Holy Liturgy of John Chrysostomos). The text was analyzed with regard to the translation of the relevant lexical material into the German language. The theoretical basis for the analysis included works by both Czech and foreign linguists.
