N2  - This paper highlights the theoretical foundations of the turn from the classical understanding of translation as the interlingual transmission of texts to the broader and partly metaphorical conception of translation as the transfer and mediation of different types of spatial and temporal boundaries. The intersection of fictional memory with translation will be explored in the context of theoretical considerations for establishing a framework for analysing the role of translates in circulating transcultural memory.
