N2  - Im Rahmen der psychoanalytischen Sozialisationstheorie und Sozialpsychologie sind Wesen und Funktionen des "Idealisierens" näher bestimmt worden. Idealbildungen vermitteln zwischen den Triebwünschen der Individuen und der kulturellen Tradition. In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird versucht, progressive und regressive Funktionen, wie sie Idealisierungen im psychischen Haushalt von Einzelnen und Kollektiven erfüllen können, voneinander abzugrenzen und die Bedeutung des Idealisierens für das politische Handeln auszumachen. Zur Illustration dienen Fallskizzen und Verweise auf kollektives Verhalten in Deutschland vor und nach 1945.
N2  - Within the overall framework of the psychoanalytic theory of socialization and of social psychology, the nature and function of idealization have been closely defined. Idealizations mediate between an individual's drive-related wishes and the cultural tradition. In the present paper an attempt is made to distinguish between the progressive and regressive functions of idealizations which occur in the psychic economy of individuals and collectivities and to spell out the significance of idealizations for political action. Case sketches and references to collective behavior in Germany before and after 1945 are presented for illustrative purposes.
