N2  - Der Gebrauch des arithmetischen Mittels der pH-Werte von Böden ist zulässig: Das arithmetische Mittel von pH-Zahlen ist der (negative dekadische) Logarithmus des geometrischen Mittels der Zahlen­werte von H30+-Konzentrationen pro Liter Lösung. Es gibt die zentrale Tendenz der Acidität einer Reihe von Böden bzw. von Bodenausschnitten besser wieder als das arithmetische Mittel der entspre­chenden Numeri.
N2  - Use of the arithmetic mean of pH values in soils is admissable: it represents the (negative common) logarithm of the geometric mean of numerical values of H3O+ concentration per liter of solution. This gives the central tendency of acidity in a series of soils or soil samples in a better way than does the arithmetic mean of the corresponding antilogarithms.
