Plantago coronopus Linnaeus in Hessen

Plantago coronopus Linnaeus in Hesse

  • Plantago coronopus grows near Frankfurt on Main along roadsides greatly affected by thawing salt. The association of the species with the Cardario-Agropyretum is documented by a relevé. These findings are the only ones known to be fully established in southern Germany at present. They might have been introduced by the seed used in the greening of road embankments or by motor vehicles. Further findings of the species in southern Germany are reported on.
