N2  - Erasmus of Rotterdam was a scholar with a broad range of interests living in the Renaissance and Reformation period, and he has become the eponymous figurehead of a European university mobility programme initiated thirty years ago. With reference to the partnership between the University of Ostrava (Czech Republic) and the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences (Germany), this paper demonstrates the key importance of this programme for university courses in translation studies, showing how the programme is implemented in line with Erasmus of Rotterdam's ideas and convictions.
