N2  - Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts wurde auf der Ostseeinsel Rügen ein Schachtelhalm entdeckt, dessen Identität unter den zeitgenössischen Botanikern umstritten war. ZABEL (1863) interpretierte die Pflanzen zwar korrekt als Bastard zwischen Equisetum palustre und E. telmateia, MILDE (1864) hielt jedoch eine Beteiligung von E. telmateia für ausgeschlossen und beschrieb sie als eine neue Varietät, var. fallax, von E. palustre. Belege von var. fallax aus dem Herbarium des Botanischen Instituts Greifswald (GFW), die 1852 und 1853 von Münter, Marsson und Zabel auf Rügen gesammelt wurden, konnten von uns überprüft und eindeutig als Equisetum xfont-queri ROTHM. (= Equisetum palustre x E. telmateia) identifiziert werden. Damit ist der Name Equisetum palustre var. fallax ein älteres Synonym von Equisetum xfont-queri, welches wegen der abweichenden Rangstufe jedoch keine Priorität besitzt. Equisetum xfont-queri kommt auf Rügen also seit mehr als 150 Jahren vor; die Pflanzen im Greifswalder Herbar sind die ältesten uns bekannten Belege von dieser Hybride.
N2  - In the middle of the 19th century, a horsetail was discovered on the Baltic island of Rügen, whose identity was controversial among contemporary botanists. ZABEL (1863) interpreted the plants correctly as the hybrid between Equisetum palustre and E. telmateia, MILDE (1864), however, ruled out that E. telmateia was involved and described them as a new variety, var. fallax, of E. palustre. We investigated specimens of var. fallax kept in the herbarium of the Botanical Institute of Greifswald (GFW), which had been collected in 1852 and 1853 by Münter, Marsson and Zabel on the island of Rügen. There is no doubt that they represent Equisetum xfont-queri Rothm. (= Equisetum palustre x E. telmateia). Thus, the name Equisetum palustre var. fallax is an older synonym of Equisetum xfont-queri, but does not have priority due to differing ranks. On the island of Rügen, Equisetum xfont-queri is present since more than 150 years; the plants kept in the herbarium of Greifswald are the oldest specimens of this hybrid known to us.
