T1  - Outer automorphisms of the absolute Galois group of local fields of mixed characteristic
N2  - In this thesis we discuss the group Out(Gal_K) of outer automorphism of the absolute Galois group Gal_K of a p-adic number field K. Using results about the mapping class group of a surface S, as well as a result by Jannsen--Wingberg on the structure of the absolute Galois group Gal_K, we construct a large subgroup of Out(Gal_K) arising as images of certain Dehn twists on S.
