N2  - Saint Clare of Assisi was born in 1194 to a family of notable social standing. Against her family’s wishes, she left home at the age of eighteen to join the Order of Saint Francis. She soon established the convent of the Poor Ladies in Assisi, which later became officially recognized as the Second Franciscan Order, and went on to govern it for 40 years. Like Saint Francis, who died in 1226 and was officially declared a saint in 1228, her canonization also took place only two years after her death in 1253, thereby demonstrating the tremendous impact she had on her contemporaries. ...
