N2  - Ein Fontinalis mit eiförmig hohlen, weit abstehenden Blättern wurde in der der Sülz östlich Köln neben „normalem“ F. antiypretica gefunden, bei dem es sich um das nordamerikanische F. antipyretica var. mollis handelt. Inwieweit das ähnliche aus Europa beschriebene F. antipyretica var. cymbifolia Nichs. damit identisch ist, kann nicht genau gesagt werden. Die var. mollis hat jedoch Priorität. Im Gegensatz zu den nicht erbkonstanten Varietäten von F. antipyretica, bei denen es sich um Standortmodifikationen handelt, ist die var. mollis ein distinkter Genotyp, dem Artrang gebührt.
N2  - Fontinalis antipyretica var. mollis, so far known only from western North America, has been found in the river Sülz east of Cologne, together with „normal“ F. antipyretica. It is characterized by ovate, concave, blunt, widely patent leaves. Varieties described from Europe with similar leaves can be excluded perhaps with the exception of var. cymbifolia Nichs., an possibly extinct taxon described from England. The epithet mollis has, however, priority over cymbifolia. The occurrence of var. mollis in mixed stands with var. antipyretica clearly shows that it is a genotype, in contrast to the so called varieties of F. antipyretica, which are merely modifications.
