The issue of loneliness for democracies – alienation, demobilisation, polarisation?

  • The commulative thesis investigates the relationship between perceived loneliness and political participation. the results of four published papers indicate that loneliness causes distrust and sense of alienation, which leads to political demobilization as well as polarization.
