• Auwälder, Pioniergebüsche auf Kies- und Sandbänken, Waldmantelgebüsche, Waldlichtungsfluren, Artemisia campestris-reiche Trockenrasen, krautige Pionierfluren, Ruderalfluren, Röhrichte und Rieder der Flussaue des Nestos zwischen Paranestion und Dafnonas (Ostmakedonien/Thrakien, Griechenland) werden anhand der dominanten und typischen Arten charakterisiert. Für einige Arten aus submontanen und montanen Gesellschaften ist das Nestostal einer der tiefstgelegenen Fundorte in Griechenland. Anemone coronaria und Erica manipuliflora stehen hier regional an ihrer nördlichen, Betula pendula, Cardamine impatiens subsp. impatiens und Tanacetum vulgare an ihrer südlichen Verbreitungsgrenze.
• The vegetation and flora of flood plain habitats of the river Nestos (E Makedonia/Thrace, Greece) were investigated. Riparian forests, pioneer shrubs on gravel and sand banks, arid grassland rich in Artemisia campestris, shrubs along forest margins, clearing vegetation, herbaceous pioneer communi­ties, ruderal communities and reeds are characterized on the basis of their dominante and typical spe­cies. For some species of submontane and montane communities, the valley of the Nestos is one of the lowest altitudes of occurrence in Greece. In the valley, Anemone coronaria and Erica manipuliflora meet their northern, Betula pendula, Cardamine impatiens subsp. impatiens and Tanacetum vulgare their southern distribution limits.
