• Über die xerothermen Eichenmischwälder in Deutschland besteht hinsichtlich der typischen Artenstrukturen und der systematischen Gliederung noch kein allgemein anerkannter Konsens. Anlaß zu den nachfolgenden Ausführungen war die von T. MÜLLER (1992) verfaßte Beschreibung der extrazonalen Reliktgesellschaften in OBERDÖRFER (1992). - Nach einer kurzen Beschreibung der klimatischen Grundcharakteristika für die Zone der Eichentrockenwälder speziell im (sub)kontinentalen Bereich mit Übertragung auf deutsche Regionen wird auf die hinsichtlich der lokalen bzw. regionalen Präsenz von Pflanzenarten wirksam gewesenen Waldnutzungen sowie auf den Einfluss überhöhter Wildpopulationen kurz eingegangen. Fragen der systematischen Ordnung für die subkontinental-kontinentalen Waldgesellschaften werden angesprochen. Auf der Basis von 2 synthetischen Tabellen erfolgt eine kurze Beschreibung der geographischen Gliederung und der standortsabhängigen Artenstrukturen deutscher Gesellschaften. Im Hinblick auf die Gliederung nach MÜLLER (1992) wurde festgestellt, daß sein Potentillo albae-Quercetum nur in der Polytrichum-Subassoziation den standörtlichen Gegebenheiten des Potentillo-Quercetum Libbert 1933 entspricht. Sein neu aufgestelltes, geographisch eng begrenztes Cytiso-Quercetum ist keine eigenständige Assoziation. Die von MÜLLER vorgegebene Standortscharakteristik von Dictamnus albus (extreme Waldsiedlungen) entspricht nicht den natürlichen Gegebenheiten in der collinen Stufe der Trockengebiete.
• There is no generally recognized consensus on the species structures and systematic classification of the xerothermic mixed oak forests of Germany. The remarks contained in this article were prompted by the description, by T. MÜLLER (1992), of the extrazonal relict communities in OBERDORFER (1992). - First, the climatic characteristics of the zone of dry oak forests, especially in (sub)continental regions, are described and extrapolated to the regions of Germany. The local and regional representation of plant species, prevailing forest management approaches and the influence of excessive game populations are then discussed. Finally, the systematic treatment of the subcontinental to continental forest communities is addressed. On the basis of two synthetic tables, a brief description is provided of the geographical patterns and site-dependent species structures of German communities. With respect to the classification of MÜLLER (1992), it is concluded that only the Polytrichum subassociation of his Potentillo albae-Quercetum corresponds to the site conditions of the Potentillo-Quercetum Libbert 1933. His newly created, geographically narrowly confined association Cytiso-Quercetum does not deserve the rank of association. The habitat characteristics of Dictamnus albus provided by MÜLLER (1992) furthermore do not correspond to the natural conditions in the colline zone of dry regions.
