• Neste artigo procuramos apresentar o conceito de reificação desenvolvido por Axel Honneth. Segundo o autor (2008), o conceito de reificação da forma que foi apropriado e resignificado tanto pela tradição marxista como outras correntes de pensamento, perderam de vista aspectos importantes para o entendimento da idéia de individualidade, no sentido moderno do termo. Seguimos as intuições do autor em apresentar o conceito de reificação como o esquecimento de uma condição elementar de reconhecimento intersubjetivo e da conseqüente pluralidade do mundo social.
• In this article we seek to present the concept of reification developed by Axel Honneth. According to him, it had been appropriated and resignified either by the marxist tradition or other schools of thought and missed major aspects to the understanding of the idea of individuality, in the modern sense of the word. We follow Honneth’s intuition to present the concept of reification as the oblivion of an elementary condition of inter-subjective recognition and the consequent plurality of the social world.
