• Problém tolerance se v posledních desetiletích v kontextu procesů globalizace a integrace národnostních menšin jeví jako jeden z klíčových problémů politické teorie. Autorem jedné z nejvlivnějších současných teorií tolerance je pak bezpochyby člen „čtvrté generace“ frankfurtské školy Rainer Forst. Článek předkládá kritickou recepci jeho teorie, lze ho ovšem zároveň chápat jako prostředek k získání obecné systematické a normativní orientace ve struktuře komplexní problematiky tolerance, která v současnosti významně rezonuje ve veřejném prostoru. Výklad za pomoci historických příkladů osvětluje Forstovo rozlišení pojmu a pojetí tolerance a následně se věnuje originálnímu normativnímu ospravedlnění tolerance, s důrazem na Forstem předložená řešení s tímto pojmem spojených paradoxů. Následuje kritické zhodnocení Forstovy argumentace, které poukazuje mimo jiné na obtíže vyplývající z Forstovy návaznosti na tradici liberalismu a konstruktivismu, a tím se dotýká problémů ležících v základech nejen Forstova myšlení, ale v základech těchto myšlenkových směrů vůbec.
• In the context of globalization and the integration of national minorities, the problem of tolerance has shown itself in recent decades to be one of the key problems of political theory. The author of what is undoubtedly one of the most influential current theories of tolerance is Rainer Forst, a member of the “fourth generation” of the Frankfurt School. The article presents a critical response to his theory, but can also be understood as a means of obtaining a general systematic and normative orientation in the structure of the complex issue of tolerance, which has in the present day significant resonance in the public space. The interpretation, with the help of historical examples, illuminates Forst’s distinction between the concept and the conception of tolerance, and then addresses the original normative justification of tolerance, with emphasis on the solutions presented by Forst that are associated with this concept of linked paradoxes. There follows a critical assessment of Forst’s argument, which points to, among other things, the issues arising from Forst’s connection to the tradition of liberalism and constructivism, and so touches on the problems that not only underlie Forst’s thinking, but also the very foundations of these schools of thought.
• Das Problem der Toleranz erweist sich in den vergangenen Jahrzehnten im Kontext der Prozesse der Globalisierung und der Integration ethnischer Minderheiten als eines der Schlüsselprobleme der Politiktheorie. Autor einer der einflussreichsten Toleranztheorien der Gegenwart ist zweifellos Rainer Forst, Mitglied der „vierten Generation“ der Frankfurter Schule. Der Artikel bringt eine kritische Rezeption vonForsts Theorie, kann jedoch auch als Mittel zur Gewinnung einer allgemeinen systematischen und normativen Orientierung bezüglich der Struktur der komplexen Problematik der Toleranz verstanden werden, die derzeit im öffentlichen Raum erheblichen Anklang findet. Anhand historischer Beispiele wird Forsts Unterscheidung des Begriffs und der Auffassung von Toleranz erläutert, wobei die von Forst vorgelegten Lösungsansätze der mit diesem Begriff verbundenen Paradoxe betont werden. Es folgt eine kritische Bewertung der Argumente von Forst, in der u.a. auf Fragen hingewiesen wird, die sich aus Forsts Anknüpfung an die Tradition von Liberalismus und Konstruktivismus ergeben. Dadurch werden Probleme berührt, die bereits in den Grundlagen nicht nur von Forsts Denken allein, sondern in den Grundlagen dieser Denkrichtungen an sich angelegt sind.
