We study the light scalar mesons a_0(980) and kappa using N_f = 2+1+1 flavor lattice QCD. In order to probe the internal structure of these scalar mesons, and in particular to identify, whether a sizeable tetraquark component is present, we use a large set of operators, including diquark-antidiquark, mesonic molecule and two-meson operators. The inclusion of disconnected diagrams, which are technically rather challenging, but which would allow us to extend our work to e.g. the f_0(980) meson, is introduced and discussed.
We compute the static-light baryon spectrum with Nf = 2 flavors of sea quarks using Wilson twisted mass lattice QCD. As light valence quarks we consider quarks, which have the same mass as the sea quarks with corresponding pion masses in the range 340MeV<∼ mPS<∼ 525MeV, as well as partially quenched quarks, which have the mass of the physical s quark. We extract masses of states with isospin I = 0,1/2,1, with strangeness S = 0,−1,−2, with angular momentum of the light degrees of freedom j = 0,1 and with parity P = +,−. We present a preliminary extrapolation in the light u/d and an interpolation in the heavy b quark mass to the physical point and compare with available experimental results.
Following votes in the Coniacian Working Group, the Cretaceous Subcommission and the International Commission on Stratigraphy, on May 1st, 2021, the International Union of Geological Sciences voted unanimously to ratify the Global Stratotype Section and Point (GSSP) proposal for the base of the Coniacian Stage of the Upper Cretaceous Series and Cretaceous System. The lower boundary of the Coniacian Stage is placed at the base of Bed 46 of the Salzgitter-Salder section in northern Germany. The boundary is defined by the first appearance of the inoceramid bivalve species Cremnoceramus deformis erectus (Meek) and complemented by the Navigation carbon isotope event. Additional data include the bivalve genus Didymotis, foraminifera, ammonite, nannofossil and organic-walled dinoflagellate cyst events. Three auxiliary sections (Słupia Nadbrzeżna, central Poland; Střeleč, Czech Republic; El Rosario, NE Mexico) supplement the details of the boundary record in various facies, and in differing geographic and biogeographic contexts.
Objective: The objective of this study was to describe and analyze the effects of depression on health care utilization and costs in a sample of multimorbid elderly patients.
Method: This cross-sectional analysis used data of a prospective cohort study, consisting of 1,050 randomly selected multimorbid primary care patients aged 65 to 85 years. Depression was defined as a score of six points or more on the Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS-15). Subjects passed a geriatric assessment, including a questionnaire for health care utilization. The impact of depression on health care costs was analyzed using multiple linear regression models. A societal perspective was adopted.
Results: Prevalence of depression was 10.7%. Mean total costs per six-month period were €8,144 (95% CI: €6,199-€10,090) in patients with depression as compared to €3,137 (95% CI: €2,735-€3,538; p<0.001) in patients without depression. The positive association between depression and total costs persisted after controlling for socio-economic variables, functional status and level of multimorbidity. In particular, multiple regression analyses showed a significant positive association between depression and pharmaceutical costs.
Conclusion: Among multimorbid elderly patients, depression was associated with significantly higher health care utilization and costs. The effect of depression on costs was even greater than reported by previous studies conducted in less morbid patients.

Ein neues Langzeitprojekt erschließt Korrespondenzen aus dem Nachlass Martin Bubers für die Digitalen Geisteswissenschaften: Im Frühjahr 2021 nimmt das von Christian Wiese geleitete Akademieprojekt „Buber-Korrespondenzen Digital: Das Dialogische Prinzip in Martin Bubers Gelehrten- und Intellektuellennetzwerken im 20. Jahrhundert“ seine Arbeit auf. Das für 24 Jahre bewilligte Projekt, das an der Akademie der Wissenschaften und der Literatur in Mainz beheimatet ist und insgesamt mit 9,2 Millionen Euro vom Bund und dem Land Hessen gefördert wird, erfolgt in Kooperation mit der Israelischen Nationalbibliothek in Jerusalem, der Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena und der Boston University. Das Projekt bildet den Mittelpunkt des 2021 am Fachbereich neu gegründeten Buber-Rosenzweig-Instituts für jüdische Geistes- und Kulturgeschichte der Moderne und Gegenwart.
Religiöse Vielfalt und Differenz gehören zu den zentralen Erfahrungen des Judentums. Im Zentrum stehen dabei einerseits konkurrierende Interpretationen des Jüdischen, aber auch die Auseinandersetzung mit Christentum und Islam. Was lässt sich für den aktuellen Dialog der Religionen daraus lernen? Der Religionsphilosoph Martin Buber plädiert für eine echte Zwiesprache, die die eigene Position ebenso ernst nimmt wie die dialogische Verwiesenheit religiöser Traditionen aufeinander. Aber auch tief greifende Differenzen sollten nicht verschwiegen werden.
