A checklist of the sap beetle (Coleoptera: Nitidulidae) fauna of Indiana, with notes on effective trapping methods (2015)
Powell, Gareth S.
A total of 70 species of Nitidulidae are recorded from the state of Indiana. Nine of these species are recorded as new state records. The myrmecophile Amphotis ulkei LeConte, and the adventive Carpophilus marginellus Motschulsky, originally from Southeast Asia are added to the state fauna. The methods with which these new taxa were found are given, along with a brief discussion on trapping techniques used for the family as a whole. Targeted use of vinegar-based baits and yellow sticky cards were used in addition to the general implementation of fermenting brown sugar and malt beer bait fi lled jugs, UV lighting, and Lindgren funnels. An updated checklist of all sap beetle species known to occur in Indiana is presented within a modern taxonomic framework for the family.
New species of Ctilodes Murray (Coleoptera: Nitidulidae) from Southeast Asia, with a key to members of the genus (2017)
Powell, Gareth S. ; Duffy, Alexandra G.

Nearns, Eugenio H. ; Powell, Gareth S.
The primary types of Onciderini Thomson, 1860 (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae: Lamiinae) of the Museum of Comparative Zoology (MCZ), Harvard University, are catalogued and illustrated. Data on the original combination, current name, gender, and type locality are verifi ed and presented. There are 19 primary types of Onciderini including seven in Oncideres Lacordaire, 1830; two in Hesychotypa Thomson, 1868; and two in Hypsioma Audinet-Serville, 1835. Of the 19 primary types, 18 were described by L. S. Dillon and E. S. Dillon. A brief history of the Coleoptera collection at the MCZ is also presented.

Powell, Gareth S. ; Schnepp, Kyle E.
Two new species of Carpophilus Stephens, 1829 in the subgenus Ecnomorphus Motschulsky, 1858 (Coleoptera: Nitidulidae) were recovered in material from the Caribbean. Descriptions and detailed diagnoses are provided for Carpophilus (Ecnomorphus) jamaicensis Powell and Schnepp, new species and Carpophilus (Ecnomorphus) thomasi Powell and Schnepp, new species.
