Scilla hyacinthoides, a new taxon for Cyprus (2022)
Christofides, Yiannis
Scilla hyacinthoides (Asparagaceae) is recorded in Cyprus for the first time. Its distribution, habitat, and floristic status are provided. Regarding its Red Data Book status in Cyprus two proposals are discussed, and further studies are needed.

New noteworthy records of flowering plants in Cyprus (2019–2021) and some status clarifications (2022)
Hand, Ralf
This paper deals with specimen-based records of 20 taxa, the majority of which are alien species in Cyprus. The following taxa are new to Cyprus or have been documented by specimens for the first time: Allium tuberosum, Amaranthus emarginatus subsp. pseudogracilis, A. powellii, Commelina communis, Cyperus alternifolius subsp. flabelliformis, Helianthus annuus, Lantana camara, Leucaena leucocephala subsp. leucocephala, Phoenix dactylifera, Urochloa ramosa, Washingtonia filifera and Zea mays. Namely Leucaena leucocephala should be given particular consideration because it may soon become a problematic invasive.

An overlooked earlier record for Baldellia ranunculoides from Cyprus (2021)
Hand, Ralf
Baldellia ranunculoides (Alismataceae) was thought to be first observed in Cyprus at the southern tip of the island in 1991. However, an older specimen collected near Syrianochori in 1952 has hitherto been overlooked. It is recommended to expand the search for this "Regionally Extinct (RE)" water plant to the northwest of Cyprus.

Asperula stricta, another species reported in error from Cyprus (2020)
Hand, Ralf
For the sole record of Asperula stricta in Cyprus no authenticating specimen seems to exist. All pieces of evidence suggest a misidentification of the endemic A. cypria.

Solenopsis annua comb. nov., a new taxon for Cyprus (2020)
Christodoulou, Charalambos S. ; Hand, Ralf ; Iosif, Kontantinos
Solenopsis annua, formerly thought to be a Greek endemic, is recorded in Cyprus for the first time. A morphological description and information on its taxonomy, distribution and habitat, as well as its floristic status are provided. It is recommended to treat it at species rank following the currently prevailing trend of a micro-species concept in Solenopsis. Regarding its future Red Data Book status in Cyprus it should be characterised as "Endangered".

First chromosome counts of Lactuca viminea from Cyprus (2020)
Hand, Ralf
Chromosome counts of Lactuca viminea from Cyprus revealed the diploid number 2n = 18, which confirms results from other parts of its distribution range. Cultivation of plants corroborated the existence of two habit forms but assignment of Cypriot material to infraspecific taxa still seems to be premature.

Various noteworthy records of flowering plants in Cyprus (1996–2019) and some status clarifications (2020)
Hand, Ralf
This paper deals with specimen-based records of 33 taxa, most of them having a scattered occurrence or restricted distribution range in Cyprus. The following taxa are new to Cyprus or have been documented by specimens for the first time: Artemisia verlotiorum, Atriplex suberecta, Cardamine occulta, Catharanthus roseus, Erigeron sumatrensis, Euphorbia graminea and Solanum lycopersicum. The recently found Cenchrus setaceus, already problematic as invasive outside Cyprus, seems to spread quickly on the island and should be given particular consideration.

Orobanche hedypnoidis comb. nov. in Cyprus, new but not unexpected (2019)
Hand, Ralf
The recently described Phelipanche hedypnoidis from the Orobanche (Phelipanche) ramosa group has been found in Cyprus for the first time. So far, it is known only from one site at the south coast. Hedypnois rhagadioloides as host plant is confirmed. To meet the demands of a more traditional generic treatment the new combination Orobanche hedypnoidis is proposed.

Updated numbers of the vascular flora of Cyprus including the endemism rate (2019)
Hand, Ralf ; Hadjikyriakou, Georgios N. ; Christodoulou, Charalambos S.
This inventory intends to provide updated numbers of vascular plants occurring in Cyprus. Currently, 1649 indigenous taxa (species and subspecies) are known to occur in Cyprus. In addition 254 taxa belong to various categories of neophytes. The endemism rate of the indigenous flora amounts to 8.55 %, i. e. 141 taxa, while 33 species and subspecies belong to the category of near-endemic for which Cyprus bears significant responsibility for their conservation.

Further noteworthy records of vascular plants in Cyprus (1997–2018) and some status clarifications (2019)
Hand, Ralf
This paper deals with specimen-based records of 74 taxa, most of them having a scattered occurrence or restricted distribution range in Cyprus. The following taxa are new to Cyprus or have been found in the wild for the first time: Aristida adscensionis subsp. adscensionis, Buglossoides incrassata subsp. splitgerberi, Cenchrus setaceus, Chenopodium rubrum, Gazania rigens, Malus domestica, Mespilus germanica, Mirabilis jalapa, Pyrus communis, Sambucus nigra and Spartium junceum. The new combination Urtica cypria (H. Lindb.) Hand for the endemic nettle species is proposed.
