A female specimen of the cribellate spider species Badumna longinqua (L. Koch, 1867) was found in a 'do-it-yourself-store' in Berlin. The species is of Australian origin and has been introduced into New Zealand, Japan, Uruguay and California. This is the first record of a representative of the family Desidae from Europe. B. longinqua lives in and around houses and is apparently capable of establishing itself in Europe.
Data and a drawing of the epigyne of Phoneutria boliviensis (F.O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1897), recently recorded from Germany, are presented. The specimen was introduced with cargo (bananas) from Brazil. Characters of the single female are illustrated to facilitate identification in the future, since in the two recent revisions of the genus no drawing of the epigyne of P. boliviensis was included. Another case of introduction from 1998 of an unidentified subadult Phoneutria specimen, probably P. boliviensis too, with bananas from Ecuador is documented.
Comparison of the detailed species-specific original drawings of Microneta pusilla Menge, 1869 with the holotype of Hypsocephalus dahli (Lessert, 1909) and the record of one female close to the type locality of Microneta pusilla in Gdansk, Poland indicate that Hypsocephalus dahli is a junior synonym of Microneta pusilla. Hypsocephalus pusillus (Menge, 1869) is therefore proposed as the valid name for this species. Here we discuss the taxonomic status of both species and present a distribution map that accounts for records in Poland.
Pandava laminata : eine weitere nach Deutschland importierte Spinnenart (Araneae: Titanoecidae)
(2008)
Pandava laminata (Thorell, 1878) was recorded for the first time from Germany at the Cologne Zoo. The species was most likely introduced with plants or cargo from Southeast Asia. Characters important for identification at species, genus and family level are listed and partly illustrated.
Urwald relict species – Saproxylic beetles indicating structural qualities and habitat tradition
(2005)
On the basis of the list of saproxylic beetles of Germany, the authors present a definition and list of “Urwald relict species”, comprising 115 beetles that are considered to be associated with primeval forest (“Urwald”) structures and features. We use the term “habitat tradition” to describe a continuity in supply of old growth dead wood and forest structures. The selection of species is made on behalf of the following criteria: relict records in Central Europe; attachment to continuity of deadwood resources and habitat tradition; continuity of old growth stand features like tree and deadwood maturity and di-versity; absence from cultivated Central European forest.
