This article examines the expression and description of fear in German and Czech phraseology. Fear – one of the primary emotions – is viewed in a broad sense. The analysis of this semantic field also includes such variations as anxiety, panic, fright, horror, and terror. As it is impossible to cover the full phraseological range for this semantic field in both languages, the boundaries of the corpus were set with reference to the repertoire of expressions included in selected phraseological dictionaries. The use of these idiomatic expressions in practice was verified with reference to large-scale corpora in the individual languages. The article offers an analysis of the corpus from a cognitive perspective. For each of the languages, the first step was to identify the concepts which are mediated via selected phraseological expressions. The concepts were then compared, revealing similarities and differences between German and Czech in this respect.
This paper focuses on the emotion fear in film reviews of horrors and thrillers. The author analyzes the texts of three German and Czech reviews of the films 'The Ghost Writer' (Roman Polanski) and 'The White Ribbon' (Michael Haneke) to determine which linguistic means are used by the reviewers in their description and interpretation of the films in order to describe and evoke an atmosphere of fear.
The contribution deals with a selected lexical field related to the emotion 'anger'. It is treated from a German-Czech perspective and with respect to its underlying psychological aspects. It begins by investigating the nature of lexical fields, and explains the framework of the chosen field in terms of its content and form. On this basis the author tries to find an answer to the question whether this particular field can in fact be considered to be a lexical field. In conclusion the paper discusses the question of whether psychological findings on emotions generally, and on the emotion of 'anger' in particular, can be of help in establishing both an outer delimitation and an internal structuring of the field.
Ta vznikla při oslavě 50. výročí manţelského slibu Johanna Josefa Antona Eleasara Kittela a Anny Marie 25. 11. 1777 v Šumburku. Ani české, ani německé kázání nebylo nikdy publikováno zcela. Jde o homiletické texty, proto měli oba kazatelé omezenou moţnost pouţití emotivních jazykových výrazů a prostředků. Ty slouţily k podchycení pozornosti posluchačů. Kázání měla dvojí funkci: věroučnou a poučnou. Upevņovala povědomí o Boţích zákonech a uváděla je do kaţdodenního ţivota.
Konstrukce identity v německých a ĉeských periodikách v mnohém korespondovaly a byly jednou z dŧleţitých strategií nacionalistické propagandy. K internalizaci konstrukcí identity a k úspěšné cirkulaci propagandy významnou měrou přispělo právě zapojení emocionality do těchto konstrukcí.
