Since antiquity, poetry and music in the Near East have been interrelated and were believed to have extraordinary powers. Both the context in which oral poetry is set, and the musically induced state of enchantment or ecstasy it produces, are defined in Arabic by the word 'ṭarab'. This article aims to provide an exhaustive definition of this concept, as well as a brief introduction to the artistic domain that encompasses extemporary performance of songs/poems, from the pre-Islamic period up until our modern era. Drawing on literary excerpts, the article attempts to highlight how music, literary performance and aesthetic emotion are amalgamated through the holistic experience of 'ṭarab', which has maintained its basic features virtually unchanged from the days of Ǧāhiliyya until the golden age of Umm Kulthum.

Published in 1991, "Tous les matins du monde" of Pascal Quignard made to appear a real still life from Lubin Baugin called "Le Dessert de gaufrettes" (Musée du Louvre). The importance of this painting in the novel - both narrative and symbolic - is crucial. Baugin's painting constitutes indeed a genetic matrix that must be examined in order to better understand the trajectory of "Tous les matins du monde", insofar as it incites and initiates writing, thereby acquiring a singular hermeneutic depth.
This study examines how "Rebelle Antigone" (2005), a story by Marie-Thérèse Davidson intended for young readers and published in the collection 'Histoires noires de la mythologie' by Nathan, uses Henry Bauchau's novel "Antigone" (1997) to renew the intertextual dialogue with the homonymous tragedy of Sophocles, the canonical intertext of all the reconfigurations of Antigone. In other words, the author mobilizes what we could call 'l'actif relationnel' // 'relational potential' of two intertexts and two generic practices to create a new, original and challenging work for readers aged 11 to 14. This study aims to show that, far from the prejudices devaluing the so-called "children's literature", the adaptation of mythological stories for children takes up the challenge of transmitting ancient heritage in all its diversity. The use of more recent (re)writings, such as Henry Bauchau's novel, thus becomes an effective means of making the myth and its ancient intertexts both more complex and more accessible to young readers.
After studying the way in which various modern interpretations (political, psychoanalytic, traumatological) of Homer analyze the emotions aroused and/or conveyed by the song of the sirens, we will look at the "self-reflexive" interpretation that Maurice Blanchot ("Le Livre à venir", 1959) proposes of "Odyssey's" "Song XII". We will see that this interpretation can provide an excellent reading grid for modern rewritings of the episode, which overinvest one of the emotional aspects of the sirens' song - that is, the emotion of the language that goes out of itself in order to become music (in Joyce - "Ulysses", 1918-1920) or silence (in Kafka - "Das Schweigen der Sirenen", 1917).
