We study the decays of J/ψ and ψ(3686) to the final states Σ(1385)0Σ¯(1385)0 and Ξ0Ξ¯0 based on a single baryon tag method using data samples of (1310.6±7.0)×106 J/ψ and (447.9±2.9)×106 ψ(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. The decays to Σ(1385)0Σ¯(1385)0 are observed for the first time. The measured branching fractions of J/ψ and ψ(3686)→Ξ0Ξ¯0 are in good agreement with, and much more precise, than the previously published results. The angular parameters for these decays are also measured for the first time. The measured angular decay parameter for J/ψ→Σ(1385)0Σ¯(1385)0, α=−0.64±0.03±0.10, is found to be negative, different to the other decay processes in this measurement. In addition, the "12\% rule" and isospin symmetry in the J/ψ and ψ(3686)→ΞΞ¯ and Σ(1385)Σ¯(1385) systems are tested.
Using data samples with an integrated luminosity of 6.4~fb−1 collected by the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring, the process of e+e−→γϕJ/ψ is studied. The processes of e+e−→ϕχc1,c2, χc1,c2→γJ/ψ are observed with a significance of more than 10σ. The s√-dependent cross section of e+e−→ϕχc1,c2 is measured between 4.600 and 4.951~GeV, and evidence of a resonance structure is found for the first time in the ϕχc2 process. We also search for the processes of e+e−→γX(4140), γX(4274) and γX(4500) via the γϕJ/ψ final state, but no obvious structures are found. The upper limits on the production cross section times the branching fraction for these processes at the 90% confidence level are reported.
Using (2.712±0.014)×109 ψ(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII, we find an evidence of the ηc(2S)→K+K−η′ decay with a statistical significance of 3.1σ. Its decay branching fraction is measured to be (12.24±4.60(stat.)±2.37(syst.)±4.68(extr.))×10−4, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third uncertainty is from the branching fraction of the ψ(3686)→γηc(2S) decay. The upper limit on the product branching fraction B[ψ(3686)→γηc(2S)]× B[ηc(2S)→K+K−η′] is set to be 1.14×10−6 at 90% confidence level. In addition, the branching fractions of χc1→K+K−η′ and χc2→K+K−η′ are updated to be (8.47±0.09(stat.)±0.47(syst.))×10−4 and (1.53±0.04(stat.)±0.08(syst.))×10−4, respectively. The precision is improved by twofold.
Using (27.12±0.14)×108 ψ(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector at BEPCII, the decay of ψ(3686)→Ω−K+Ξ¯0+c.c. is observed for the first time. The branching fraction of this decay is measured to be Bψ(3686)→Ω−K+Ξ¯0+c.c.=(2.78±0.40±0.18)×10−6, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. Possible baryon excited states are searched for in this decay, but no evident intermediate state is observed with the current sample size.
Using (448.1±2.9)×106 ψ(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector and a single-baryon tagging technique, we present the first observation of the decays ψ(3686)→Ξ(1530)0Ξ¯(1530)0 and Ξ(1530)0Ξ¯0. The branching fractions are measured to be B(ψ(3686)→Ξ(1530)0Ξ¯(1530)0)=(6.77±0.14±0.39)×10−5 and B(ψ(3686)→Ξ(1530)0Ξ¯0)=(0.53±0.04±0.03)×10−5. Here, the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. In addition, the parameter associated with the angular distribution for the decay ψ(3686)→Ξ(1530)0Ξ¯(1530)0 is determined to be α=0.32±0.19±0.07, in agreement with theoretical predictions within one standard deviation.
The decay 𝜂𝑐(2𝑆)→𝜋+𝜋−𝜂 is searched for through the radiative transition 𝜓(3686)→𝛾𝜂𝑐(2𝑆) using 448 million 𝜓(3686) events accumulated at the BESIII detector. The first evidence of 𝜂𝑐(2𝑆)→𝜋+𝜋−𝜂 is found with a statistical significance of 3.5𝜎. The product of the branching fractions of 𝜓(3686)→𝛾𝜂𝑐(2𝑆) and 𝜂𝑐(2𝑆)→𝜋+𝜋−𝜂 is measured to be Br(𝜓(3686)→𝛾𝜂𝑐(2𝑆))×Br(𝜂𝑐(2𝑆)→𝜋+𝜋−𝜂)=(2.97±0.81±0.26)×10−6, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second one is systematic. The branching fraction of the decay 𝜂𝑐(2𝑆)→𝜋+𝜋−𝜂 is determined to be Br(𝜂𝑐(2𝑆)→𝜋+𝜋−𝜂)=(42.4±11.6±3.8±30.3)×10−4, where the third uncertainty is transferred from the uncertainty of the branching fraction of 𝜓(3686)→𝛾𝜂𝑐(2𝑆).
Using J/ψ radiative decays from 9.0 billion J/ψ events collected by the BESIII detector, we search for di-muon decays of a CP-odd light Higgs boson (A0), predicted by many new physics models beyond the Standard Model, including the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. No evidence for the CP-odd light Higgs production is found, and we set 90% confidence level upper limits on the product branching fraction B(J/ψ→γA0)×B(A0→μ+μ−) in the range of (1.2−778.0)×10−9 for 0.212≤mA0≤3.0 GeV/c2. The new measurement is a 6-7 times improvement over our previous measurement, and is also slightly better than the BaBar measurement in the low-mass region for tanβ=1.
Based on 3.19 fb−1 of e+e− collision data accumulated at the center-of-mass energy 4.178 GeV with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, the electromagnetic Dalitz decay D∗0→D0e+e− is observed for the first time with a statistical significance of 13.2σ. The ratio of the branching fraction of D∗0→D0e+e− to that of D∗0→D0γ is measured to be (11.08±0.76±0.49)×10−3. By using the world average value of the branching fraction of D∗0→D0γ, the branching fraction of D∗0→D0e+e− is determined to be (3.91±0.27±0.17±0.10)×10−3, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic and the third external branching fractions.
Using 2.93 fb−1 of e+e− collision data collected with the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV, we investigate the semileptonic decays D+→π+π−ℓ+νℓ (ℓ=e and μ). The D+→f0(500)μ+νμ decay is observed for the first time. By analyzing simultaneously the differential decay rates of D+→f0(500)μ+νμ and D+→f0(500)e+νe in different ℓ+νℓ four-momentum transfer intervals, the product of the relevant hadronic form factor ff0+(0) and the magnitude of the c→d Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element |Vcd| is determined to be ff0+(0)|Vcd|=0.0787±0.0060stat±0.0033syst for the first time. With the input of |Vcd| from the global fit in the standard model, we determine ff0+(0)=0.350±0.027stat±0.015syst. The absolute branching fractions of D+→f0(500)(π+π−)μ+νμ and D+→ρ0(π+π−)μ+νμ are determined as (0.72±0.13stat±0.10syst)×10−3 and (1.64±0.13stat±0.11syst)×10−3. Combining these results with those of previous BESIII measurements on their semielectronic counterparts from the same data sample, we test lepton flavor universality by measuring the branching fraction ratios BD+→ρ0μ+νμ/BD+→ρ0e+νe = 0.88±0.10 and BD+→f0(500)μ+νμ/BD+→f0(500)e+νe = 1.14±0.28, which are compatible with the standard model expectation.
We report a study of the processes of e+e−→K+(D−sD∗0+D∗−sD0) based on e+e− annihilation samples collected with the BESIII detector operating at BEPCII at five center-of-mass energies ranging from 4.628 to 4.698 GeV with a total integrated luminosity of 3.7 fb−1. An excess over the known contributions of the conventional charmed mesons is observed near the D−sD∗0 and D∗−sD0 mass thresholds in the K+ recoil-mass spectrum for events collected at s√=4.681 GeV. The structure matches a mass-dependent-width Breit-Wigner line shape, whose pole mass and width are determined as (3982.5+1.8−2.6±2.1) MeV/c2 and (12.8+5.3−4.4±3.0) MeV, respectively. The first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. The significance of the resonance hypothesis is estimated to be 5.3 σ over the contributions only from the conventional charmed mesons. This is the first candidate of the charged hidden-charm tetraquark with strangeness, decaying into D−sD∗0 and D∗−sD0. However, the properties of the excess need further exploration with more statistics.
