A search for a massless dark photon 𝛾′ is conducted using 4.5 fb−1 of 𝑒+𝑒− collision data collected at center-of-mass energies between 4.600 and 4.699 GeV with the BESIII detector at BEPCII. No significant signal is observed, and the upper limit on the branching fraction ℬ(Λ+𝑐→𝑝𝛾′) is determined to be 8.0×10−5 at 90% confidence level.
Anisotropic collective flow of protons resulting from non-central heavy ion collisions is a unique hadronic observable providing information about the early stage of the nuclear collision. The analysis of collective flow in the energy regime between 1-2 AGeV enables the study of the phase diagram of hadronic matter at a high baryochemical potential µb, as well as the analysis of the equation of state at densities up to the threefold of the ground state density ρ0.
The algorithms of the standard event plane method and the scalar product method are used to analyse directed and elliptic flow of protons in a centrality range of 0-40 % most central events.
Prior to the analysis of experimental data, the respective influence of the reconstruction procedure on the algorithms is examined using Monte Carlo simulations based on the Ultra relativistic Quantum Molecular Dynamics (UrQMD) model.
Subsequently, experimental data measured in April 2012 with the High Acceptance DiElectron Spectrometer (HADES) is analysed using both methods. About 7.3 · 109 Au+Au events at a kinetic beam energy of 1.23 AGeV, equivalent to a centre of mass energy of √sNN = 2.42 GeV were recorded. A multi-differential analysis is feasible as the HADES detector provides a good transverse momentum and rapidity coverage.
Both algorithms result in identical values for directed and elliptic flow across all centrality classes within the observable phase space of protons. The calculated integrated value of v2 at mid rapidity is in good agreement with world data.
The processing of pain undergoes several changes in aging that affect sensory nociceptive fibers and the endogenous neuronal inhibitory systems. So far, it is not completely clear whether age-induced modifications are associated with an increase or decrease in pain perception. In this study, we assessed the impact of age on inflammatory nociception in mice and the role of the hormonal inhibitory systems in this context. We investigated the nociceptive behavior of 12-month-old versus 6–8-week-old mice in two behavioral models of inflammatory nociception. Levels of TRP channels, and cortisol as well as cortisol targets, were measured by qPCR, ELISA, and Western blot in the differently aged mice. We observed an age-related reduction in nociceptive behavior during inflammation as well as a higher level of cortisol in the spinal cord of aged mice compared to young mice, while TRP channels were not reduced. Among potential cortisol targets, the NF-κB inhibitor protein alpha (IκBα) was increased, which might contribute to inhibition of NF-κB and a decreased expression and activity of the inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS). In conclusion, our results reveal a reduced nociceptive response in aged mice, which might be at least partially mediated by an augmented inflammation-induced increase in the hormonal inhibitory system involving cortisol.
This paper reports on Monte Carlo simulation results for future measurements of the moduli of time-like proton electromagnetic form factors, |GE | and |GM|, using the ¯pp → μ+μ− reaction at PANDA (FAIR). The electromagnetic form factors are fundamental quantities parameterizing the electric and magnetic structure of hadrons. This work estimates the statistical and total accuracy with which the form factors can be measured at PANDA, using an analysis of simulated data within the PandaRoot software framework. The most crucial background channel is ¯pp → π+π−,due to the very similar behavior of muons and pions in the detector. The suppression factors are evaluated for this and all other relevant background channels at different values of antiproton beam momentum. The signal/background separation is based on a multivariate analysis, using the Boosted Decision Trees method. An expected background subtraction is included in this study, based on realistic angular distribuations of the background contribution. Systematic uncertainties are considered and the relative total uncertainties of the form factor measurements are presented.
In the last twenty years, a variety of unexpected resonances had been observed within the charmonium mass region. Although the existence of unconventional states has been predicted by the quantum chromodynamics (QCD), a quantum field theory describing the strong force, a clear evidence was missing. The Y(4260) is such an unexpected and supernummerary state, first observed at BaBar in 2005, and aroused great interest, because it couples much stronger to hidden charm decays (charm-anticharm states like J/Psi or h_c) instead of open charm decays (D meson pairs). This is unusual for states with masses above the D anti-D threshold. Furthermore, it decays into a charged exotic state Y(4260)->Z_c(3900)^+- pi^-+. The charge of the Z_c(3900)^+- is an indication that it comprises of two more quarks than the charm-anticharm pair, and could therefore be assumed to be a four-quark state. Due to these still not understood properties of these QCD-allowed states, they are referred to as exotic XYZ states to emphasize their particularity.
In 2017, the collaboration of the Beijing Spectrometer III (BESIII) investigated the production reaction of the Y(4260) resonance based on a high-luminosity data set. This significantly improved precision of the measurement of the cross-section sigma(e+e- -> J/Psi pi^+ pi^-) permitted a resolution into two resonances, the Y(4230) and the Y(4360). The Z_c(3900)^+- had been discovered by the BESIII collaboration in 2013, thus this experiment at the Beijing Electron-Positron Collider II (BEPCII) is a top-performing facililty to study exotic charmonium-like states.
In this work, an inclusive reconstruction of the strange hyperon Lambda in the charmonium mass region is performed to study possible decays of Y states in order to provide further insight into their nature. Finding more states or new decay channels may provide crucial hints to understand the strong interaction beyond nonperturbative approaches.
Three resonances are observed in the energy dependent cross-section: the first with a mass of (4222.01 +- 5.68) MeV and a width of (154.26 +- 28.16) MeV, the second with a mass of (4358.88 +- 4.97) MeV and a width of (49.58 +- 13.54) MeV and the third with a mass of (4416.41 +- 2.37) MeV and a width of (23.88 +- 7.18) MeV. These resonances, with a statistical significance Z > 5sigma, can be interpreted as the states Y(4230), Y(4360) and psi(4415).
Additionally, a proton momentum-dependent analysis strategy has been used in terms of the inclusiveness of the reconstruction and to address the momentum discrepancies between generic MC and measured data.
Background: Caloric restriction is associated with broad therapeutic potential in various diseases and an increase in health and life span. In this study, we assessed the impact of caloric restriction on acute and inflammatory nociception in mice, which were either fed ad libitum or subjected to caloric restriction with 80% of the daily average for two weeks.
Results: The behavioral tests revealed that inflammatory nociception in the formalin test and in zymosan-induced mechanical hypersensitivity were significantly decreased when mice underwent caloric restriction. As potential mediators of the diet-induced antinociception, we assessed genes typically induced by inflammatory stimuli, AMP-activated kinase, and the endocannabinoid system which have all already been associated with nociceptive responses. Zymosan-induced inflammatory markers such as COX-2, TNFα, IL-1β, and c-fos in the spinal cord were not altered by caloric restriction. In contrast, AMPKα2 knock-out mice showed significant differences in comparison to C57BL/6 mice and their respective wild type littermates by missing the antinociceptive effects after caloric restriction. Endocannabinoid levels of anandamide and 2-arachidonyl glyceroldetermined in serum by LC-MS/MS were not affected by either caloric restriction alone or in combination with zymosan treatment. However, cannabinoid receptor type 1 expression in the spinal cord, which was not altered by caloric restriction in control mice, was significantly increased after caloric restriction in zymosan-induced paw inflammation. Since increased cannabinoid receptor type 1 signaling might influence AMP-activated kinase activity, we analyzed effects of anandamide on AMP-activated kinase in cell culture and observed a significant activation of AMP-activated kinase. Thus, endocannabionoid-induced AMP-activated kinase activation might be involved in antinociceptive effects after caloric restriction.
Conclusion: Our data suggest that caloric restriction has an impact on inflammatory nociception which might involve AMP-activated kinase activation and an increased activity of the endogenous endocannabinoid system by caloric restriction-induced cannabinoid receptor type 1 upregulation.
We report a measurement of the observed cross sections of e+ e− → J/ψX based on 3.21 fb − 1 of data accumulated at energies from 3.645 to 3.891 GeV with the BESIII detector operated at the BEPCII collider. In analysis of the cross sections, we measured the decay branching fractions of B(ψ(3686) → J/ψX) = (64.4 ± 0.6 ± 1.6)% and B(ψ(3770) → J/ψX) = (0.5 ± 0.2 ± 0.1)% for the first time. The energy-dependent line shape of these cross sections cannot be well described by two Breit-Wigner (BW) amplitudes of the expected decays ψ (3686) → J/ψX and ψ(3770) → J/ψX. Instead, it can be better described with one more BW amplitude of the decay R(3760)→ J/ψX. Under this assumption, we extracted the R (3760) mass M R (3760 ) = 3766.2 ± 3.8 ± 0.4 MeV/c2, total width Γ tot R ( 3760 ) = 22.2 ± 5.9 ± 1.4 MeV, and product of leptonic width and decay branching fraction
ΓeeR(3760) B[R(3760) → J/ψX] = (79.4 ± 85.5 ± 11.7) eV. The significance of the R(3760) is 5.3σ. The first uncertainties of these measured quantities are from fits to the cross sections and second systematic.
