Using electron-positron annihilation data samples corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.5 fb−1, collected by the BESIII detector in the energy region between 4600 MeV and 4699 MeV, we report the first observations of the Cabibbo-suppressed decays Λ+c→nπ+π0, Λ+c→nπ+π−π+, and the Cabibbo-favored decay Λ+c→nK−π+π+ with statistical significances of 7.9σ, 7.8σ, and >10σ, respectively. The branching fractions of these decays are measured to be B(Λ+c→nπ+π0)=(0.64±0.09±0.02)%, B(Λ+c→nπ+π−π+)=(0.45±0.07±0.03)%, and B(Λ+c→nK−π+π+)=(1.90±0.08±0.09)%, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. We find that the branching fraction of the decay Λ+c→nπ+π0 is about one order of magnitude higher than that of Λ+c→nπ+.
A search for a massless dark photon γ′ is conducted using 4.5 fb−1 of e+e− collision data collected at center-of-mass energies between 4.600 and 4.699 GeV with the BESIII detector at BEPCII. No significant signal is observed, and the upper limit on the branching fraction B(Λ+c→pγ′) is determined to be 8.0×10−5 at 90% confidence level.

Measurement of the absolute branching fraction of the singly Cabibbo suppressed decay Λc⁺ → pη′
(2022)
The singly Cabibbo suppressed decay Λ+c→pη′ is measured using 4.5 fb−1 of e+e− collision data collected at center-of-mass energies between 4.600 and 4.699 GeV with the BESIII detector at BEPCII. Evidence for Λ+c→pη′ with a statistical significance of 3.6σ is reported with a double-tag approach. The Λ+c→pη′ absolute branching fraction is determined to be (5.62+2.46−2.04±0.26)×10−4, where the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. Our result is consistent with the branching fraction obtained by the Belle collaboration within the uncertainty of 1σ.
Using (448.1±2.9)×106 ψ(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector, we perform the first search for the weak baryonic decay ψ(3686)→Λ+cΣ¯−+c.c.. The analysis procedure is optimized using a blinded method. No significant signal is observed, and the upper limit on the branching fraction (B) of ψ(3686)→Λ+cΣ¯−+c.c. is set to be 1.4×10−5 at the 90\% confidence level.
Observation of 𝜒𝑐𝐽→Λ¯Λ𝜂
(2022)
By analyzing (448.1±2.9)×106 𝜓(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, the decays of 𝜒𝑐𝐽→Λ
¯Λ𝜂 (𝐽=0, 1, and 2) are observed for the first time with statistical significances of 13.9𝜎, 6.7𝜎, and 8.2𝜎, respectively. The product branching fractions of 𝜓(3686)→𝛾𝜒𝑐𝐽 and 𝜒𝑐𝐽→Λ¯Λ𝜂 are measured. Dividing by the world averages of the branching fractions of 𝜓(3686)→𝛾𝜒𝑐𝐽, the branching fractions of 𝜒𝑐𝐽→Λ¯Λ𝜂 decays are determined to be (2.31±0.30±0.21)×10−4, (5.86±1.38±0.68)×10−5, and (1.05±0.21±0.15)×10−4 for 𝐽=0, 1 and 2, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic.

Using a data sample of (448.1±2.9)×106 𝜓(3686) decays collected at an 𝑒+𝑒− center-of-mass energy of 3.686 GeV by the BESIII detector at Beijing Electron Positron Collider II, we report an observation of the hindered electromagnetic Dalitz decay 𝜓(3686)→𝑒+𝑒−𝜂𝑐 with a significance of 7.9𝜎. The branching fraction is determined to be ℬ(𝜓(3686)→𝑒+𝑒−𝜂𝑐)=(3.77±0.40stat±0.18syst)×10−5, agreeing well with the prediction of the vector meson dominance model. This is the first measurement of the electromagnetic Dalitz transition between the 𝜓(3686) and the 𝜂𝑐, which provides new insight into the electromagnetic properties of this decay, and offers new opportunities to measure the absolute branching fractions of 𝜂𝑐 decays.
Measurement of the absolute branching fraction of the singly Cabibbo suppressed decay Λc⁺ → pη′
(2022)
The singly Cabibbo suppressed decay Λ+𝑐→𝑝𝜂′ is measured using 4.5 fb−1 of 𝑒+𝑒− collision data collected at center-of-mass energies between 4.600 and 4.699 GeV with the BESIII detector at BEPCII. Evidence for Λ+𝑐→𝑝𝜂′ with a statistical significance of 3.6𝜎 is reported with a double-tag approach. The Λ+𝑐→𝑝𝜂′ absolute branching fraction is determined to be (5.62+2.46−2.04±0.26)×10−4, where the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. Our result is consistent with the branching fraction obtained by the Belle collaboration within the uncertainty of 1𝜎.
Based on (10087±44)×106 𝐽/𝜓 events collected with the BESIII detector at BEPCII, the double Dalitz decay 𝜂′→𝑒+𝑒−𝑒+𝑒− is observed for the first time via the 𝐽/𝜓→𝛾𝜂′ decay process. The significance is found to be 5.7𝜎 with systematic uncertainties taken into consideration. Its branching fraction is determined to be ℬ(𝜂′→𝑒+𝑒−𝑒+𝑒−)=(4.5±1.0(stat)±0.5(sys))×10−6.
Using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 11.3 fb−1 collected at center-of-mass energies from 4.23 to 4.70 GeV with the BESIII detector, we observe the process e+e− → π0π0ψ2(3823) for the first time with a statistical significance of 6.0 standard deviations. The ratio of average cross sections for e+e− → π0π0ψ2(3823) and π+π−ψ2(3823) is determined to be R = σ[e+e− → π0π0ψ2(3823)] σ[e+e−→π+π−ψ2(3823)] = 0.57 ± 0.14 ± 0.05, which is consistent with expectations from isospin symmetry. Here and below, the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. The mass of the ψ2(3823) is measured to be M[ψ2(3823)] = 3824.5±2.4±1.0 MeV/c2. Due to the limited data sample, an upper limit of 18.8 MeV at 90% confidence level is set on the intrinsic width of ψ2(3823).
Using a sample of 4.3×105 η′→ηπ0π0 events selected from the ten billion J/ψ event dataset collected with the BESIII detector, we study the decay η′→ηπ0π0 within the framework of nonrelativistic effective field theory. Evidence for a structure at π+π− mass threshold is observed in the invariant mass spectrum of π0π0 with a statistical significance of around 3.5σ, which is consistent with the cusp effect as predicted by the nonrelativistic effective field theory. After introducing the amplitude for describing the cusp effect, the ππ scattering length combination a0−a2 is determined to be 0.226±0.060stat±0.013syst, which is in good agreement with theoretical calculation of 0.2644±0.0051.
Based on e+e− collision samples corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.4 fb−1 collected with the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between 4.6GeV and 4.7GeV, a partial wave analysis of the charmed baryon hadronic decay Λ+c→Λπ+π0 is performed, and the decays Λ+c→Λρ(770)+ and Λ+c→Σ(1385)π are studied for the first time. Making use of the world-average branching fraction B(Λ+c→Λπ+π0), their branching fractions are determined to be B(Λ+c→Λρ(770)+)=B(Λ+c→Σ(1385)+π0)=B(Λ+c→Σ(1385)0π+)=(4.06±0.30±0.35±0.23)×10−2,(5.86±0.49±0.52±0.35)×10−3,(6.47±0.59±0.66±0.38)×10−3, where the first uncertainties are statistical, the second are systematic, and the third are from the uncertainties of the branching fractions B(Λ+c→Λπ+π0) and B(Σ(1385)→Λπ). In addition, %according to amplitudes determined from the partial wave analysis, the decay asymmetry parameters are measured to be αΛρ(770)+=−0.763±0.053±0.039, αΣ(1385)+π0=−0.917±0.069±0.046, and αΣ(1385)0π+=−0.789±0.098±0.056.
Based on 10 billion J/ψ events collected at the BESIII experiment, a search for CP violation in Λ decay is performed in the difference between CP-odd decay parameters α− for Λ→pπ− and α+ for Λ¯→p¯π+ by using the process e+e−→J/ψ→ΛΛ¯. With a five-dimensional fit to the full angular distributions of the daughter baryon, the most precise values for the decay parameters are determined to be α−=0.7519±0.0036±0.0024 and α+=−0.7559±0.0036±0.0030, respectively. The Λ and Λ¯ averaged value of the decay parameter is extracted to be αavg=0.7542±0.0010±0.0024 with unprecedented accuracy. The CP asymmetry ACP=(α−+α+)/(α−−α+) is determined to be −0.0025 ± 0.0046 ± 0.0012, which is one of the most precise measurements in the baryon sector. The reported results for the decay parameter will play an important role in the studies of the polarizations and CP violations for the strange, charmed and beauty baryons.
Using a data sample of (1.0087±0.0044)×1010 J/ψ decay events collected with the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energy of s√=3.097 GeV, we present a search for the hyperon semileptonic decay Ξ0→Σ−e+νe which violates the ΔS=ΔQ rule. No significant signal is observed, and the upper limit on the branching fraction B(Ξ0→Σ−e+νe) is determined to be 1.6×10−4 at the 90% confidence level. This result improves the previous upper limit result by about one order of magnitude.
A measurement of the 𝐶𝑃-even fraction of the decay 𝐷0→𝜋+𝜋−𝜋+𝜋− is performed with a quantum-correlated 𝜓(3770)→𝐷¯𝐷 data sample collected by the BESIII experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.93 fb−1. Using a combination of 𝐶𝑃 eigenstates, 𝐷→𝜋+𝜋−𝜋0 and 𝐷→𝐾0𝑆,𝐿𝜋+𝜋− as tagging modes, the 𝐶𝑃-even fraction is measured to be 𝐹4𝜋+=0.735±0.015±0.005, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. This is the most precise determination of this quantity to date. It provides valuable model-independent input for the measurement of the angle 𝛾 of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix with 𝐵±→𝐷𝐾± decays, and for time-dependent studies of 𝐶𝑃 violation and mixing in the 𝐷0−¯𝐷0 system.
Observation of ηc(2S) → 3(π⁺π⁻) and measurements of χcJ → 3(π⁺π⁻) in ψ(3686) radiative transitions
(2022)
The hadronic decay ηc(2S)→3(π+π−) is observed with a statistical significance of 9.3 standard deviations using (448.1±2.9)×106 ψ(3686) events collected by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. The measured mass and width of ηc(2S) are (3643.4±2.3(stat.)±4.4(syst.)) MeV/c2 and (19.8±3.9(stat.)±3.1(syst.)) MeV, respectively, which are consistent with the world average values within two standard deviations. The product branching fraction B[ψ(3686) → γηc(2S)]×B[ηc(2S)→3(π+π−)] is measured to be (9.2±1.0(stat.)±0.9(syst.))×10−6. Using B[ψ(3686)→γηc(2S)]=(7.0+3.4−2.5)×10−4, we obtain B[ηc(2S)→3(π+π−)]=(1.31±0.15(stat.)±0.13(syst.)(+0.64−0.47)(extr))×10−2, where the third uncertainty is from B[ψ(3686)→γηc(2S)]. We also measure the χcJ→3(π+π−) (J=0,1,2) decays via ψ(3686)→γχcJ transitions. The branching fractions are B[χc0→3(π+π−)]=(2.080±0.006(stat.)±0.068(syst.))×10−2, B[χc1→3(π+π−)]=(1.092±0.004(stat.)±0.035(syst.))×10−2, and B[χc2→3(π+π−)]=(1.565±0.005(stat.)±0.048(syst.))×10−2.
Using e+e− annihilation data sets collected with the BESIII detector, we measure the cross sections of the processes e+e−→e+e− and e+e−→μ+μ− at fifteen center-of-mass energy points in the vicinity of the J/ψ resonance. By a simultaneous fit to the measured, center-of-mass energy dependent cross sections of the two processes, the combined quantities ΓeeΓee/Γtot and ΓeeΓμμ/Γtot are determined to be (0.346±0.009) and (0.335±0.006) keV, respectively, where Γee, Γμμ, and Γtot are the electronic, muonic, and total decay widths of the J/ψ resonance, respectively. Using the resultant ΓeeΓμμ/Γtot and ΓeeΓee/Γtot, the ratio Γee/Γμμ is calculated to be 1.031±0.015, which is consistent with the expectation of lepton universality within about two standard deviations. Assuming lepton universality and using the branching fraction of the J/ψ leptonic decay measured by BESIII in 2013, Γtot and Γll are determined to be (93.0±2.1) and (5.56±0.11) keV, respectively, where Γll is the average leptonic decay width of the J/ψ resonance.
