Based on electron positron collision data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage rings, the differential cross sections of inclusive π0 and K0S production as a function of hadron momentum, normalized by the total cross section of the e+e−→ hadrons process, are measured at six center-of-mass energies from 2.2324 to 3.6710 GeV. Our results with a relative hadron energy coverage from 0.1 to 0.9 significantly deviate from several theoretical calculations based on existing fragmentation functions, especially at lower energies.
Using an e+e− collision data sample with a total integrated luminosity of 3.19 fb−1 collected with the BESIII detector at a center-of-mass energy of 4.178 GeV, the branching fraction of the inclusive decay of the D+s meson to final states including at least three charged pions is measured for the first time to be B(D+s→π+π+π−X)=(32.81±0.35stat±0.63syst)%. In this measurement the charged pions from K0S meson decays are excluded. The partial branching fractions of D+s→π+π+π−X are also measured as a function of the π+π+π− invariant mass.
Using data samples with an integrated luminosity of 6.4~fb−1 collected by the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring, the process of e+e−→γϕJ/ψ is studied. The processes of e+e−→ϕχc1,c2, χc1,c2→γJ/ψ are observed with a significance of more than 10σ. The s√-dependent cross section of e+e−→ϕχc1,c2 is measured between 4.600 and 4.951~GeV, and evidence of a resonance structure is found for the first time in the ϕχc2 process. We also search for the processes of e+e−→γX(4140), γX(4274) and γX(4500) via the γϕJ/ψ final state, but no obvious structures are found. The upper limits on the production cross section times the branching fraction for these processes at the 90% confidence level are reported.
Improved measurement of the branching fractions of the inclusive decays D⁺ → Kₛ⁰X and D⁰ → Kₛ⁰X
(2023)
By analyzing 2.93 fb−1 of e+e− collision data taken at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector, the branching fractions of the inclusive decays D+→K0SX and D0→K0SX are measured to be (32.78±0.13±0.27)% and (20.54±0.12±0.18)%, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. These results are consistent with the world averages of previous measurements, but with improved precision.
We report a search for a heavier partner of the recently observed Zcs(3985)− state, denoted as Z′−cs, in the process e+e−→K+D∗−sD∗0+c.c., based on e+e− collision data collected at the center-of-mass energies of s√=4.661, 4.682 and 4.699 GeV with the BESIII detector. The Z′−cs is of interest as it is expected to be a candidate for a hidden-charm and open-strange tetraquark. A partial-reconstruction technique is used to isolate K+ recoil-mass spectra, which are probed for a potential contribution from Z′−cs→D∗−sD∗0 (c.c.). We find an excess of Z′−cs→D∗−sD∗0 (c.c.) candidates with a significance of 2.1σ, after considering systematic uncertainties, at a mass of (4123.5±0.7stat.±4.7syst.) MeV/c2. As the data set is limited in size, the upper limits are evaluated at the 90\% confidence level on the product of the Born cross sections (σBorn) and the branching fraction (B) of Z′−cs→D∗−sD∗0, under different assumptions of the Z′−cs mass from 4.120 to 4.140 MeV and of the width from 10 to 50 MeV at the three center-of-mass energies. The upper limits of σBorn⋅B are found to be at the level of O(1) pb at each energy. Larger data samples are needed to confirm the Z′−cs state and clarify its nature in the coming years.

The larger data samples that will be collected in the coming years will allow a clearer picture to emerge concerning the existence and nature of the Z′−cs state.

Determination of U-spin breaking parameters with an amplitude analysis of the decay D⁰ → K⁰Lπ⁺π⁻
(2022)
We present a study of the resonant structure of the decay D0→K0Lπ+π−, using quantum-correlated D0D¯0 data produced at s√=3.773 GeV. The data sample was collected by the BESIII experiment and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 2.93 fb−1. This study is the first amplitude analysis of a decay mode involving a K0L, which also results in the first measurement of the complex U-spin breaking parameters (ρ^) related to various CP-eigenstate resonant modes through which the three-body decay proceeds. The moduli of the ρ^ parameters have central values in a wide range from 0.4 to 12.1, which indicates substantial U-spin symmetry breaking. We present the fractional resonant contributions and average strong-phase parameters over regions of phase space for both K0Sπ+π− and K0Lπ+π− modes. We also report the ratio of the branching fractions between K0Lπ+π− and K0Sπ+π− decay modes and the CP-even fraction of the K0Lπ+π− state calculated using the U-spin breaking parameters.
Observation of ψ(3686) → 3ϕ
(2024)
Using (2.712±0.014)×109 ψ(3686) events collected by the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, we report the first observation of ψ(3686)→3ϕ decay with a significance larger than 10σ. The branching fraction of this decay is determined to be (1.46±0.05±0.17)×10−5, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. No significant structure is observed in the ϕϕ invariant mass spectra.
Based on (2.712±0.014)×109 ψ(3686) events collected by the BESIII collaboration, evidence of the hadronic decay hc→K0SK+π−+c.c. is found with a significance of 4.3σ in the ψ(3686)→π0hc process. The branching fraction of hc→K0SK+π−+c.c. is measured to be (7.3±0.8±1.8)×10−4, where the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. Combining with the exclusive decay width of ηc→KK¯π, our result indicates inconsistencies with both pQCD and NRQCD predictions.
Measurement of e⁺e⁻ → ΛΛ¯η from 3.5106 to 4.6988 GeV and study of ΛΛ¯ mass threshold enhancement
(2022)
Using data samples with a total integrated luminosity of approximately 18 fb−1 collected by the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII, the process e+e−→ΛΛ¯η is studied at center-of-mass energies between 3.5106 and 4.6988 GeV. The Born cross section for the process e+e−→ΛΛ¯η is measured. No significant structure is observed in the Born cross section line shape. An enhancement near the ΛΛ¯ mass threshold is observed for the first time in the process. The structure can be described by an S-wave Breit-Wigner function. Neglecting contribution of excited Λ states and potential interferences, the mass and width are determined to be (2356±7±17) MeV/c2 and (304±28±54) MeV, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic.

We present measurements of the Born cross sections for the processes e+e−→ωχc1 and ωχc2 at center-of-mass energies s√ from 4.308 to 4.951 GeV. The measurements are performed with data samples corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 11.0 fb−1 collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring. Assuming the e+e−→ωχc2 signals come from a single resonance, the mass and width are determined to be M=(4413.6±9.0±0.8) MeV/c2 and Γ=(110.5±15.0±2.9) MeV, respectively, which is consistent with the parameters of the well-established resonance ψ(4415). In addition, we also use one single resonance to describe the e+e−→ωχc1 lineshape, and determine the mass and width to be M=(4544.2±18.7±1.7) MeV/c2 and Γ=(116.1±33.5±1.7) MeV, respectively. The structure of this lineshape, observed for the first time, requires further understanding.
Using 7.9 fb−1 of e+e− collision data collected at s√=3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we search for the massless dark photon with the flavor-changing neutral current processes D0→ωγ′ and D0→γγ′ for the first time. No significant signals are observed, and the upper limits at the 90% confidence level on the massless dark photon branching fraction are set to be 1.1×10−5 and 2.0×10−6 for D0→ωγ′ and D0→γγ′, respectively. These results provide the most stringent constraint on the new physics energy scale associated with cuγ′ coupling in the world, with the new physics energy scale related parameter |C|2+|C5|2<8.2×10−17 GeV−2 at the 90% confidence level.
Using 7.33 fb−1 of e+e− collision data collected by the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between 4.128 and 4.226~GeV, we observe for the first time the decay D±s→ωπ±η with a statistical significance of 7.6σ. The measured branching fraction of this decay is (0.54±0.12±0.04)%, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic.
Model-independent determination of the strong-phase difference between D⁰ and D̄⁰ → π⁺π⁻π⁺π⁻ decays
(2024)
Measurements of the strong-phase difference between D0 and D¯0→π+π−π+π− are performed in bins of phase space. The study exploits a sample of quantum-correlated DD¯ mesons collected by the BESIII experiment in e+e− collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773~GeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.93~fb−1. Here, D denotes a neutral charm meson in a superposition of flavor eigenstates. The reported results are valuable for measurements of the CP-violating phase γ (also denoted ϕ3) in B±→DK±, D→π+π−π+π− decays, and the binning schemes are designed to provide good statistical sensitivity to this parameter. The expected uncertainty on γ arising from the precision of the strong-phase measurements, when applied to very large samples of B-meson decays, is around 1.5∘ or 2∘, depending on the binning scheme. The binned strong-phase parameters are combined to give a value of F4π+=0.746±0.010±0.004 for the CP-even fraction of D0→π+π−π+π− decays, which is around 30\% more precise than the previous best measurement of this quantity.
Using 7.93 fb−1 of e+e− collision data collected at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector, we measure the absolute branching fractions of D0→K−e+νe, D0→K−μ+νμ, D+→K¯0e+νe, and D+→K¯0μ+νμ to be (3.509±0.009stat.±0.013syst.)%, (3.408±0.011stat.±0.013syst.)%, (8.856±0.039stat.±0.078syst.)%, and (8.661±0.046stat.±0.080syst.)%, respectively. By performing a simultaneous fit to the partial decay rates of these four decays, the product of the hadronic form factor fK+(0) and the modulus of the c→s CKM matrix element |Vcs| is determined to be fK+(0)|Vcs|=0.7162±0.0011stat.±0.0012syst.. Taking the value of |Vcs|=0.97349±0.00016 from the standard model global fit or that of fK+(0)=0.7452±0.0031 from the LQCD calculation as input, we derive the results fK+(0)=0.7357±0.0011stat.±0.0012syst. and |Vcs|=0.9611±0.0015stat.±0.0016syst.±0.0040LQCD.
We perform for the first time an amplitude analysis of the decay D+→K0Sπ+η and report the observation of the decay D+→K0Sa0(980)+ using 2.93 fb−1 of e+e− collision data taken at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector. As the only W-annihilation free decay among D to a0(980)-pseudoscalar, D+→K0Sa0(980)+ is the ideal decay to extract the contributions of the external and internal W-emission amplitudes involving a0(980) and study the final-state interactions. The absolute branching fraction of D+→K0Sπ+η is measured to be (1.27±0.04stat.±0.03syst.)%. The product branching fractions of D+→K0Sa0(980)+ with a0(980)+→π+η and D+→π+K∗0(1430)0 with K∗0(1430)0→K0Sη are measured to be (1.33±0.05stat.±0.04syst.)% and (0.14±0.03stat.±0.01syst.)%, respectively.
Using 9.0 fb−1 of e+e− collision data collected at center-of-mass energies from 4.178 to 4.278 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we perform the first search for the radiative transition χc1(3872)→γψ2(3823). No χc1(3872)→γψ2(3823) signal is observed. The upper limit on the ratio of branching fractions B(χc1(3872)→γψ2(3823),ψ2(3823)→γχc1)/B(χc1(3872)→π+π−J/ψ) is set as 0.075 at the 90\% confidence level. Our result contradicts theoretical predictions under the assumption that the χc1(3872) is the pure charmonium state χc1(2P).
Six C-even states, denoted as X, with quantum numbers JPC=0−+, 1±+, or 2±+, are searched for via the e+e−→γD±sD∗∓s process using (1667.39±8.84) pb−1 of e+e− collision data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring at center-of-mass energy of s√=(4681.92±0.30) MeV. No statistically significant signal is observed in the mass range from 4.08 to 4.32 GeV/c2. The upper limits of σ[e+e−→γX]⋅B[X→D±sD∗∓s] at a 90% confidence level are determined.
