Using 4.5 fb−1 of e+e− annihilation data samples collected at the center-of-mass energies ranging from 4.600~GeV to 4.699~GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, a first study of the semileptonic decays Λ+c→pK−e+νe, Λ+c→Λ(1520)e+νe and Λ+c→Λ(1405)e+νe is performed. The Λ+c→pK−e+νe decay is observed with a significance of 8.2σ and the branching fraction is measured to be B(Λ+c→pK−e+νe)=(0.88±0.17stat.±0.07syst.)×10−3. We also report evidence of Λ+c→Λ(1520)e+νe and Λ+c→Λ(1405)e+νe with significances of 3.3σ and 3.2σ, respectively, and measure B(Λ+c→Λ(1520)e+νe)=(1.02±0.52stat.±0.11syst.)×10−3 and B(Λ+c→Λ(1405)[→pK−]e+νe)=(0.42±0.19stat.±0.04syst.)×10−3. Combining these with the inclusive semileptonic Λ+c branching fraction measured by BESIII, the relative fraction is determined to be [B(Λ+c→pK−e+νe)/B(Λ+c→Xe+νe)]=(2.1±0.4stat.±0.2syst.)%, which provides a clear confirmation that semileptonic Λ+c decays are not saturated by the Λℓ+νℓ final state.
Based on a sample of 4.4 fb−1 of e+e− annihilation data collected in the energy region between 4.6 GeV and 4.7 GeV with the BESIII detector at BEPCII, two singly Cabibbo-suppressed decays Λ+c→Σ0K+ and Λ+c→Σ+K0S are studied. The ratio of the branching fraction B(Λ+c→Σ0K+) relative to B(Λ+c→Σ0π+) is measured to be 0.0361±0.0073(stat.)±0.0005(syst.), and the ratio of B(Λ+c→Σ+K0S) relative to B(Λ+c→Σ+π+π−) is measured to be 0.0106±0.0031(stat.)±0.0004(syst.). After taking the world-average branching fractions of the reference decay channels, the branching fractions B(Λ+c→Σ0K+) and B(Λ+c→Σ+K0S) are determined to be (4.7±0.9(stat.)±0.1(syst.)±0.3(ref.))×10−4 and (4.8±1.4(stat.)±0.2(syst.)±0.3(ref.))×10−4, respectively. The branching fraction of the Λ+c→Σ+K0S decay is measured for the first time.
Using (448.1±2.9)×106 ψ(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector, we perform the first search for the weak baryonic decay ψ(3686)→Λ+cΣ¯−+c.c.. No significant signal is observed, and the upper limit on the branching fraction (B) of ψ(3686)→Λ+cΣ¯−+c.c. is set to be 1.4×10−5 at the 90\% confidence level.

Using a sample of 4.3×105 η′→ηπ0π0 events selected from the ten billion J/ψ event dataset collected with the BESIII detector, we study the decay η′→ηπ0π0 within the framework of nonrelativistic effective field theory. Evidence for a structure at π+π− mass threshold is observed in the invariant mass spectrum of π0π0 with a statistical significance of around 3.5σ, which is consistent with the cusp effect as predicted by the nonrelativistic effective field theory. After introducing the amplitude for describing the cusp effect, the ππ scattering length combination a0−a2 is determined to be 0.226±0.060stat±0.013syst, which is in good agreement with theoretical calculation of 0.2644±0.0051.

By analyzing 𝑒+𝑒− annihilation data with an integrated luminosity of 2.93 fb−1 collected at the center-of-mass energy √𝑠=3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector, we present the first absolute measurements of the branching fractions of twenty Cabibbo-suppressed hadronic 𝐷0(+) decays involving multiple pions. The highest four branching fractions obtained are ℬ(𝐷0→𝜋+𝜋−𝜋0) = (1.343±0.013stat±0.016syst)%, ℬ(𝐷0→𝜋+𝜋−2𝜋0) = (1.002±0.019stat±0.024syst)%, ℬ(𝐷+→2𝜋+𝜋−𝜋0) = (1.165±0.021stat±0.021syst)%, and ℬ(𝐷+→2𝜋+𝜋−2𝜋0) = (1.074±0.040stat±0.030syst)%. The 𝐶𝑃 asymmetries for the six decays with highest signal yields are also determined and found to be compatible with zero.
By analyzing e+e− annihilation data with an integrated luminosity of 2.93 fb−1 collected at the center-of-mass energy s√= 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector, we present the first absolute measurements of the branching fractions of twenty Cabibbo-suppressed hadronic D0(+) decays involving multiple pions. The largest four branching fractions obtained are B(D0→π+π−π0) = >(1.343±0.013stat±0.016syst)%, B(D0→π+π−2π0) = (0.998±0.019stat±0.024syst)%, B(D+→2π+π−π0)

Using e+e− annihilation data sets collected with the BESIII detector, we measure the cross sections of the processes e+e−→e+e− and e+e−→μ+μ− at fifteen center-of-mass energy points in the vicinity of the J/ψ resonance. By a simultaneous fit to the measured, center-of-mass energy dependent cross sections of the two processes, the combined quantities ΓeeΓee/Γtot and ΓeeΓμμ/Γtot are determined to be (0.346±0.009) and (0.335±0.006) keV, respectively, where Γee, Γμμ, and Γtot are the electronic, muonic, and total decay widths of the J/ψ resonance, respectively. Using the resultant ΓeeΓμμ/Γtot and ΓeeΓee/Γtot, the ratio Γee/Γμμ is calculated to be 1.031±0.015, which is consistent with the expectation of lepton universality within about two standard deviations. Assuming lepton universality and using the branching fraction of the J/ψ leptonic decay measured by BESIII in 2013, Γtot and Γll are determined to be (93.0±2.1) and (5.56±0.11) keV, respectively, where Γll is the average leptonic decay width of the J/ψ resonance.
Observation of 𝜒𝑐𝐽→Λ¯Λ𝜂
(2022)
By analyzing (448.1±2.9)×106 𝜓(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, the decays of 𝜒𝑐𝐽→Λ
¯Λ𝜂 (𝐽=0, 1, and 2) are observed for the first time with statistical significances of 13.9𝜎, 6.7𝜎, and 8.2𝜎, respectively. The product branching fractions of 𝜓(3686)→𝛾𝜒𝑐𝐽 and 𝜒𝑐𝐽→Λ¯Λ𝜂 are measured. Dividing by the world averages of the branching fractions of 𝜓(3686)→𝛾𝜒𝑐𝐽, the branching fractions of 𝜒𝑐𝐽→Λ¯Λ𝜂 decays are determined to be (2.31±0.30±0.21)×10−4, (5.86±1.38±0.68)×10−5, and (1.05±0.21±0.15)×10−4 for 𝐽=0, 1 and 2, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic.
Using a sample of (448.1±2.9)×106 𝜓(3686) decays collected with the BESIII detector at BEPCII, we report an observation of Ξ− transverse polarization with a significance of 7.3𝜎 in the decay 𝜓(3686)→Ξ− ¯Ξ+ (Ξ−→Λ𝜋−, ¯Ξ+→¯Λ𝜋+, Λ→𝑝𝜋−, ¯Λ→¯𝑝𝜋+). The relative phase of the electric and magnetic form factors is determined to be ΔΦ=(0.667±0.111±0.058) rad. This is the first measurement of the relative phase for a 𝜓(3686) decay into a pair of Ξ−¯Ξ+ hyperons. The Ξ− decay parameters (𝛼Ξ−, 𝜙Ξ−) and their conjugates (𝛼¯Ξ+, 𝜙¯Ξ+), the angular-distribution parameter 𝛼𝜓, and the strong-phase difference 𝛿𝑝−𝛿𝑠 for Λ𝜋− scattering are measured to be consistent with previous BESIII results.
The radiative hyperon decay Λ→nγ is studied using (10087±44)×106 J/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector operating at BEPCII. The absolute branching fraction of the decay Λ→nγ is determined with a significance of 5.6σ to be [0.832±0.038(stat.)±0.054(syst.)]×10−3, which lies significantly below the current PDG value. By analyzing the joint angular distribution of the decay products, the first determination of the decay asymmetry αγ is reported with a value of −0.16±0.10(stat.)±0.05(syst.).

The hadronic decay 𝜂𝑐(2𝑆)→3(𝜋+𝜋−) is observed with a statistical significance of 9.3 standard deviations using (448.1±2.9)×106 𝜓(3686) events collected by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. The measured mass and width of 𝜂𝑐(2𝑆) are (3643.4±2.3 (stat)±4.4 (syst)) MeV/𝑐2 and (19.8±3.9 (stat)±3.1 (syst)) MeV, respectively, which are consistent with the world average values within two standard deviations. The product branching fraction ℬ[𝜓(3686)→𝛾𝜂𝑐(2𝑆)]×ℬ[𝜂𝑐(2𝑆)→3(𝜋+𝜋−)] is measured to be (9.2±1.0 (stat)±1.2 (syst))×10−6. Using ℬ[𝜓(3686)→𝛾𝜂𝑐(2𝑆)]=(7.0+3.4−2.5)×10−4, we obtain ℬ[𝜂𝑐(2𝑆)→3(𝜋+𝜋−)]=(1.31±0.15 (stat)±0.17 (syst) (+0.64−0.47) (extr))×10−2, where the third uncertainty is from ℬ[𝜓(3686)→𝛾𝜂𝑐(2𝑆)]. We also measure the 𝜒𝑐𝐽→3(𝜋+𝜋−) (𝐽=0, 1, 2) decays via 𝜓′→𝛾𝜒𝑐𝐽 transitions. The decays D → K−π+π+π− and D → K−π+π 0 are studied in a sample of quantum-correlated DD¯ pairs produced through the process e+e− → ψ(3770) → DD¯, exploiting a data set collected by the BESIII experiment that corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 2.93 fb−1 . Here D indicates a quantum superposition of a D0 and a D¯ 0 meson. By reconstructing one neutral charm meson in a signal decay, and the other in the same or a different final state, observables are measured that contain information on the coherence factors and average strong-phase differences of each of the signal modes. These parameters are critical inputs in the measurement of the angle γ of the Unitarity Triangle in B− → DK− decays at the LHCb and Belle II experiments. The coherence factors are determined to be RK3π = 0.52+0.12−0.10 and RKππ0 = 0.78 ± 0.04, with values for the average strong-phase differences that are δ K3π D = (167+31−19)◦ and δKππ0D = (196+14−15◦ , where the uncertainties include both statistical and systematic contributions. The analysis is re-performed in four bins of the phase-space of the D → K−π+π+π− to yield results that will allow for a more sensitive measurement of γ with this mode, to which the BESIII inputs will contribute an uncertainty of around 6◦.
We report new measurements of the branching fraction ℬ(𝐷+𝑠→ℓ+𝜈), where ℓ+ is either 𝜇+ or 𝜏+(→𝜋+¯𝜈𝜏), based on 6.32 fb−1 of electron-positron annihilation data collected by the BESIII experiment at six center-of-mass energy points between 4.178 and 4.226 GeV. Simultaneously floating the 𝐷+𝑠→𝜇+𝜈𝜇 and 𝐷+𝑠→𝜏+𝜈𝜏 components yields ℬ(𝐷+𝑠→𝜏+𝜈𝜏)=(5.21±0.25±0.17)×10−2, ℬ(𝐷+𝑠→𝜇+𝜈𝜇)=(5.35±0.13±0.16)×10−3, and the ratio of decay widths 𝑅=Γ(𝐷+𝑠→𝜏+𝜈𝜏)Γ(𝐷+𝑠→𝜇+𝜈𝜇)=9.73+0.61−0.58±0.36, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. No evidence of 𝐶𝑃 asymmetry is observed in the decay rates 𝐷±𝑠→𝜇±𝜈𝜇 and 𝐷±𝑠→𝜏±𝜈𝜏: 𝐴𝐶𝑃(𝜇±𝜈)=(−1.2±2.5±1.0)% and 𝐴𝐶𝑃(𝜏±𝜈)=(+2.9±4.8±1.0)%. Constraining our measurement to the Standard Model expectation of lepton universality (𝑅=9.75), we find the more precise results ℬ(𝐷+𝑠→𝜏+𝜈𝜏)=(5.22±0.10±0.14)×10−2 and 𝐴𝐶𝑃(𝜏±𝜈𝜏)=(−0.1±1.9±1.0)%. Combining our results with inputs external to our analysis, we determine the 𝑐→¯𝑠 quark mixing matrix element, 𝐷+𝑠 decay constant, and ratio of the decay constants to be |𝑉𝑐𝑠|=0.973±0.009±0.014, 𝑓𝐷+𝑠=249.9±2.4±3.5 MeV, and 𝑓𝐷+𝑠/𝑓𝐷+=1.232±0.035, respectively.

The statistical significance of the decay D0→K1(1270)−e+νe is greater than 10σ. The branching fraction of D0→K1(1270)−e+νe is measured to be (1.09±0.13+0.09−0.13±0.12)×10−3. Here, the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third originates from the assumed branching fraction of K1(1270)−→K−π+π−.

Our results of the amplitude analysis are used to obtain a more precise measurement of the branching fraction of the 𝐷+𝑠→𝐾0𝑆𝐾−𝜋+𝜋+ decay, which is determined to be (1.46±0.05stat±0.05sys)%.
he Born cross sections for the process 𝑒+𝑒−→𝜂′𝜋+𝜋− at different center-of-mass energies between 2.00 and 3.08 GeV are reported with improved precision from an analysis of data samples collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring. An obvious structure is observed in the Born cross section line shape. Fit as a Breit-Wigner resonance, it has a statistical significance of 6.3𝜎 and a mass and width of 𝑀=(2111±43±25) MeV/𝑐2 and Γ=(135±34±30) MeV, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. These measured resonance parameters agree with the measurements of BABAR in 𝑒+𝑒−→𝜂′𝜋+𝜋− and BESIII in 𝑒+𝑒−→𝜔𝜋0 within two standard deviations.
Using e+e− collision data at ten center-of-mass energies between 2.644 and 3.080 GeV collected with the BESIII detector at BEPCII and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 500 pb−1, we measure the cross sections and effective form factors for the process e+e−→Ξ0Ξ¯0 utilizing a single-tag method. A fit to the cross section of e+e−→Ξ0Ξ¯0 with a pQCD-driven power function is performed, from which no significant resonance or threshold enhancement is observed. In addition, the ratio of cross sections for the processes e+e−→Ξ−Ξ¯+ and Ξ0Ξ¯0 is calculated using recent BESIII measurement and is found to be compatible with expectation from isospin symmetry.
Using 2.93 fb−1 of e+e− collision data collected with the BESIII detector at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV, we measure the absolute branching fractions of the decays D0→K−e+νe and D+→K¯0e+νe to be (3.567±0.031stat±0.025syst)% and (8.68±0.14stat±0.16syst)%, respectively. Starting with the process e+e−→DD¯, a new reconstruction method is employed to select events that contain candidates for both D→K¯e+νe and D¯→Ke−ν¯e decays. The branching fractions reported in this work are consistent within uncertainties with previous BESIII measurements that selected events containing D→K¯e+νe and hadronic D¯ decays. Combining our results with the lifetimes of the D0 and D+ mesons and the previous BESIII measurements leads to a ratio of the two decay partial widths of Γ¯D0→K−e+νeΓ¯D+→K¯0e+νe=1.039±0.021. This ratio supports isospin symmetry in the D0→K−e+νe and D+→K¯0e+νe decays within 1.9σ.

Using 10.1 × 109 J/ψ events produced by the Beijing Electron Positron Collider (BEPCII) at a center-of-mass energy √s = 3.097 GeV and collected with the BESIII detector, we present a search for the rare semi-leptonic decay J/ψ → D−e+νe + c.c. No excess of signal above background is observed, and an upper limit on the branching fraction B(J/ψ → D−e +νe + c.c.) < 7.1 × 10−8 is obtained at 90% confidence level. This is an improvement of more than two orders of magnitude over the previous best limit.

The data sets were collected by the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring. We measure the yield of events integrated over center-of-mass energies and also present the energy dependence of the measured cross section.

No significant signal is observed. An upper limit of 1.2×10−4 at the 90% confidence level is set on the product of the branching fractions of D+s→a0(980)0e+νe and a0(980)0→π0η decays.
Using (448.1±2.9)×106 ψ(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector and a single-baryon tagging technique, we present the first observation of the decays ψ(3686)→Ξ(1530)0Ξ¯(1530)0 and Ξ(1530)0Ξ¯0. The branching fractions are measured to be B(ψ(3686)→Ξ(1530)0Ξ¯(1530)0)=(6.77±0.14±0.39)×10−5 and B(ψ(3686)→Ξ(1530)0Ξ¯0)=(0.53±0.04±0.03)×10−5. Here, the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. In addition, the parameter associated with the angular distribution for the decay ψ(3686)→Ξ(1530)0Ξ¯(1530)0 is determined to be α=0.32±0.19±0.07, in agreement with theoretical predictions within one standard deviation.
Based on an 𝑒+𝑒− collision data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 567 pb−1 taken at the center-of-mass energy of √𝑠=4.6 GeV with the BESIII detector, we measure the absolute branching fraction of the inclusive decay Λ+𝑐→Λ+𝑋 to be ℬ(Λ+𝑐→Λ+𝑋)=(38.2+2.8−2.2±0.9)% using the double-tag method, where 𝑋 refers to any possible final state particles. In addition, we search for direct 𝐶𝑃 violation in the charge asymmetry of this inclusive decay for the first time, and obtain 𝒜𝐶𝑃≡[ℬ(Λ+𝑐→Λ+𝑋)−ℬ(¯Λ−𝑐 → ¯Λ+𝑋)]/[ℬ(Λ+𝑐→Λ+𝑋)+ℬ(¯Λ−𝑐 → ¯Λ+𝑋)]=(2.1+7.0−6.6±1.6)%, a statistically limited result with no evidence of 𝐶𝑃 violation.
Using an 𝑒+𝑒− collision data sample of 2.93 fb−1 collected at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV by the BESIII detector at BEPCII, we report the observation of 𝐷0→𝑎0(980)−𝑒+𝜈𝑒 and evidence for 𝐷+→𝑎0(980)0𝑒+𝜈𝑒 with significances of 6.4𝜎 and 2.9𝜎, respectively. The absolute branching fractions are determined to be ℬ(𝐷0→𝑎0(980)−𝑒+𝜈𝑒)×ℬ(𝑎0(980)−→𝜂𝜋−) = [1.33+0.33−0.29(stat)±0.09(syst)]×10−4 and ℬ(𝐷+→𝑎0(980)0𝑒+𝜈𝑒)×ℬ(𝑎0(980)0→𝜂𝜋0)=[1.66+0.81
−0.66(stat)±0.11(syst)]×10−4. This is the first time the 𝑎0(980) meson has been measured in a 𝐷0 semileptonic decay, which would open one more interesting page in the investigation of the nature of the puzzling 𝑎0(980) states.
Using a sample of 4.48×108 ψ(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we study the two-photon decays of the pseudoscalar mesons π0, η, η′, η(1405), η(1475), η(1760), and X(1835) in J/ψ radiative decays using ψ(3686)→π+π−J/ψ events. The π0, η and η′ mesons are clearly observed in the two-photon mass spectra, and the branching fractions are determined to be B(J/ψ→γπ0→3γ)=(3.57±0.12±0.16)×10−5, B(J/ψ→γη→3γ)=(4.42±0.04±0.18)×10−4, and B(J/ψ→γη′→3γ)=(1.26±0.02±0.05)×10−4, where the first errors are statistical and the second systematic. No clear signal for η(1405), η(1475), η(1760) or X(1835) is observed in the two-photon mass spectra, and upper limits at the 90% confidence level on the product branching fractions are obtained.
Using a data sample of 448.1×106 𝜓(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII, we perform search for the hadronic transition ℎ𝑐→𝜋+𝜋−𝐽/𝜓 via 𝜓(3686)→𝜋0ℎ𝑐. No signals of the transition are observed, and the upper limit on the product branching fraction ℬ(𝜓(3686)→𝜋0ℎ𝑐)ℬ(ℎ𝑐→𝜋+𝜋−𝐽/𝜓) at the 90% confidence level (C.L.) is determined to be 2.0×10−6. This is the most stringent upper limit to date.
The decay 𝐽/𝜓→𝛾𝛾𝜙 is studied using a sample of 1.31×109 𝐽/𝜓 events collected with the BESIII detector. Two structures around 1475 MeV/𝑐2 and 1835 MeV/𝑐2 are observed in the 𝛾𝜙 invariant mass spectrum for the first time. With a fit on the 𝛾𝜙 invariant mass, which takes into account the interference between the two structures, and a simple analysis of the angular distribution, the structure around 1475 MeV/𝑐2 is found to favor an assignment as the 𝜂(1475) and the mass and width for the structure around 1835 MeV/𝑐2 are consistent with the 𝑋(1835). The statistical significances of the two structures are 13.5𝜎 and 6.3𝜎, respectively. The results indicate that both 𝜂(1475) and 𝑋(1835) contain a sizeable 𝑠¯𝑠 component.
Using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.93 fb−1 collected at a center-of-mass energy s√=3.773 GeV by the BESIII detector, the decay D0→ωϕ is observed for the first time. The branching fraction is measured to be (6.48±0.96±0.38)×10−4 with a significance of 6.3σ, where the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. An angular analysis reveals that the ϕ and ω mesons from the D0→ωϕ decay are transversely polarized, which is inconsistent with current theoretical expectations and challenges our understanding of the underlying dynamics in charm meson decays.

The branching fraction is measured to be (6.48±0.96±0.40)×10−4 with a significance of 6.3σ, where the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. An angular analysis reveals that the ϕ and ω mesons from the D0→ωϕ decay are transversely polarized. Using data samples with a total integrated luminosity of 20.1 fb−1 collected by the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, the cross section of the process 𝑒+𝑒−→𝜋+𝜋−𝜓(3686) is measured at center-of-mass energies between 4.0076 and 4.6984 GeV. The measured cross section is consistent with previous results, and with much improved precision. A fit to the measured energy-dependent cross section, which includes three Breit-Wigner functions and a nonresonant contribution, confirms the existence of the charmonium-like states 𝑌(4220), 𝑌(4390), and 𝑌(4660). This is the first observation of the 𝑌(4660) at the BESIII experiment.

No structures are observed in cross-section distributions for any of the processes.

Measurement of inclusive J/ψ polarization in p + p collisions at √s=200 GeV by the STAR experiment
(2020)
We report on new measurements of inclusive 𝐽/𝜓 polarization at midrapidity in 𝑝+𝑝 collisions at √𝑠=200 GeV by the STAR experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. The polarization parameters, 𝜆𝜃, 𝜆𝜙, and 𝜆𝜃𝜙, are measured as a function of transverse momentum (𝑝T) in both the helicity and Collins-Soper (CS) reference frames within 𝑝T<10 GeV/𝑐. Except for 𝜆𝜃 in the CS frame at the highest measured 𝑝T, all three polarization parameters are consistent with 0 in both reference frames without any strong 𝑝T dependence. Several model calculations are compared with data, and the one using the Color Glass Condensate effective field theory coupled with nonrelativistic QCD gives the best overall description of the experimental results, even though other models cannot be ruled out due to experimental uncertainties.
Measurement of inclusive charged-particle jet production in Au + Au collisions at √sNN=200 GeV
(2020)
The STAR Collaboration at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider reports the first measurement of inclusive jet production in peripheral and central Au+Au collisions at √𝑠𝑁𝑁=200 GeV. Jets are reconstructed with the anti-𝑘𝑇 algorithm using charged tracks with pseudorapidity |𝜂|<1.0 and transverse momentum 0.2<𝑝ch
𝑇,jet<30 GeV/𝑐, with jet resolution parameter 𝑅=0.2, 0.3, and 0.4. The large background yield uncorrelated with the jet signal is observed to be dominated by statistical phase space, consistent with a previous coincidence measurement. This background is suppressed by requiring a high-transverse-momentum (high-𝑝𝑇) leading hadron in accepted jet candidates. The bias imposed by this requirement is assessed, and the 𝑝𝑇 region in which the bias is small is identified. Inclusive charged-particle jet distributions are reported in peripheral and central Au+Au collisions for 5<𝑝ch
𝑇,jet<25 GeV/𝑐 and 5<𝑝ch
𝑇,jet<30 GeV/𝑐, respectively. The charged-particle jet inclusive yield is suppressed for central Au+Au collisions, compared to both the peripheral Au+Au yield from this measurement and to the 𝑝𝑝 yield calculated using the PYTHIA event generator. The magnitude of the suppression is consistent with that of inclusive hadron production at high 𝑝𝑇 and that of semi-inclusive recoil jet yield when expressed in terms of energy loss due to medium-induced energy transport. Comparison of inclusive charged-particle jet yields for different values of 𝑅 exhibits no significant evidence for medium-induced broadening of the transverse jet profile for 𝑅 <0.4 in central Au+Au collisions. The measured distributions are consistent with theoretical model calculations that incorporate jet quenching.
Measurement of inclusive charged-particle jet production in Au+Au collisions at √sNN = 200 GeV
(2021)
The STAR Collaboration at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider reports the first measurement of inclusive jet production in peripheral and central Au+Au collisions at sNN−−−−√=200 GeV. Jets are reconstructed with the anti-kT algorithm using charged tracks with pseudorapidity |η|<1.0 and transverse momentum 0.2<pchT,jet<30 GeV/c, with jet resolution parameter R=0.2, 0.3, and 0.4. The large background yield uncorrelated with the jet signal is observed to be dominated by statistical phase space, consistent with a previous coincidence measurement. This background is suppressed by requiring a high-transverse-momentum (high-pT) leading hadron in accepted jet candidates. The bias imposed by this requirement is assessed, and the pT region in which the bias is small is identified. Inclusive charged-particle jet distributions are reported in peripheral and central Au+Au collisions for 5<pchT,jet<25 GeV/c and 5<pchT,jet<30 GeV/c, respectively. The charged-particle jet inclusive yield is suppressed for central Au+Au collisions, compared to both the peripheral Au+Au yield from this measurement and to the pp yield calculated using the PYTHIA event generator. The magnitude of the suppression is consistent with that of inclusive hadron production at high pT, and that of semi-inclusive recoil jet yield when expressed in terms of energy loss due to medium-induced energy transport. Comparison of inclusive charged-particle jet yields for different values of R exhibits no significant evidence for medium-induced broadening of the transverse jet profile for R<0.4 in central Au+Au collisions. The measured distributions are consistent with theoretical model calculations that incorporate jet quenching.
We report on the measurement of the Central Exclusive Production of charged particle pairs h+h− (h = π, K, p) with the STAR detector at RHIC in proton-proton collisions at √s = 200 GeV. The charged particle pairs produced in the reaction pp → p′ + h+h− + p′ are reconstructed from the tracks in the central detector and identified using the specific energy loss and the time of flight method, while the forward-scattered protons are measured in the Roman Pot system. Exclusivity of the event is guaranteed by requiring the transverse momentum balance of all four final-state particles. Differential cross sections are measured as functions of observables related to the central hadronic final state and to the forward-scattered protons. They are measured in a fiducial region corresponding to the acceptance of the STAR detector and determined by the central particles’ transverse momenta and pseudorapidities as well as by the forward-scattered protons’ momenta. This fiducial region roughly corresponds to the square of the four-momentum transfers at the proton vertices in the range 0.04 GeV2 < −t1, −t2 < 0.2 GeV2, invariant masses of the charged particle pairs up to a few GeV and pseudorapidities of the centrally-produced hadrons in the range |η| < 0.7. The measured cross sections are compared to phenomenological predictions based on the Double Pomeron Exchange (DPE) model. Structures observed in the mass spectra of π+π− and K+K− pairs are consistent with the DPE model, while angular distributions of pions suggest a dominant spin-0 contribution to π+π− production. For π+π− production, the fiducial cross section is extrapolated to the Lorentz-invariant region, which allows decomposition of the invariant mass spectrum into continuum and resonant contributions. The extrapolated cross section is well described by the continuum production and at least three resonances, the f0(980), f2(1270) and f0(1500), with a possible small contribution from the f0(1370). Fits to the extrapolated differential cross section as a function of t1 and t2 enable extraction of the exponential slope parameters in several bins of the invariant mass of π+π− pairs. These parameters are sensitive to the size of the interaction region.
We report measurements of the longitudinal double-spin asymmetry, ALL, for inclusive jet and dijet production in polarized proton-proton collisions at midrapidity and center-of-mass energy s√ = 510 GeV, using the high luminosity data sample collected by the STAR experiment in 2013. These measurements complement and improve the precision of previous STAR measurements at the same center-of-mass energy that probe the polarized gluon distribution function at partonic momentum fraction 0.015 ≲x≲ 0.25. The dijet asymmetries are separated into four jet-pair topologies, which provide further constraints on the x dependence of the polarized gluon distribution function. These measurements are in agreement with previous STAR measurements and with predictions from current next-to-leading order global analyses. They provide more precise data at low dijet invariant mass that will better constraint the shape of the polarized gluon distribution function of the proton.
We present measurements of the differential cross sections of inclusive J/ψ meson production as a function of transverse momentum (pJ/ψT) using the μ+μ− and e+e− decay channels in proton+proton collisions at center-of-mass energies of 510 and 500 GeV, respectively, recorded by the STAR detector at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. The measurement from the μ+μ− channel is for 0 <pJ/ψT< 9 GeV/c and rapidity range |yJ/ψ|< 0.4, and that from the e+e− channel is for 4 <pJ/ψT< 20 GeV/c and |yJ/ψ|< 1.0. The ψ(2S) to J/ψ ratio is also measured for 4 <pmesonT< 12 GeV/c through the e+e− decay channel. Model calculations, which incorporate different approaches toward the J/ψ production mechanism, are compared with experimental results and show reasonable agreement within uncertainties.
Using about 23 fb−1 of data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring, a precise measurement of the 𝑒+𝑒−→𝜋+𝜋−𝐽/𝜓 Born cross section is performed at center-of-mass energies from 3.7730 to 4.7008 GeV. Two structures, identified as the 𝑌(4220) and the 𝑌(4320) states, are observed in the energy-dependent cross section with a significance larger than 10𝜎. The masses and widths of the two structures are determined to be (𝑀,Γ)=(4221.4±1.5±2.0 MeV/𝑐2,41.8±2.9±2.7 MeV) and (𝑀,Γ)=(4298±12±26 MeV/𝑐2,127±17±10 MeV), respectively. A small enhancement around 4.5 GeV with a significance about 3𝜎, compatible with the 𝜓(4415), might also indicate the presence of an additional resonance in the spectrum. The inclusion of this additional contribution in the fit to the cross section affects the resonance parameters of the 𝑌(4320) state.

By analyzing an electron-positron collision data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.93 fb−1 taken at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector, we obtain for the first time the absolute branching fractions for seven 𝐷0 and 𝐷+ hadronic decay modes and search for the hadronic decay 𝐷0→𝐾0𝑆𝐾0𝑆𝜋0 with much improved sensitivity. The results are ℬ(𝐷0→𝐾0𝑆𝜋0𝜋0𝜋0)=(7.64±0.30±0.29)×10−3, (𝐷0→𝐾−𝜋+𝜋0𝜋0𝜋0)=9.54±0.30±0.31)×10−3, ℬ(𝐷0→𝐾0𝑆𝜋+𝜋−𝜋0𝜋0)=(12.66±0.45±0.43)×10−3, ℬ(𝐷+→𝐾0𝑆𝜋+𝜋0𝜋0)=(29.04±0.62±0.87)×10−3, ℬ(𝐷+→𝐾0𝑆𝜋+𝜋+𝜋−𝜋0)=(15.28±0.57±0.60)×10−3, ℬ(𝐷+→𝐾0𝑆𝜋+𝜋0𝜋0𝜋0)=(5.54±0.44±0.32)×10−3, ℬ(𝐷+→𝐾−𝜋+𝜋+𝜋0𝜋0)=(4.95±0.26±0.19)×10−3, and ℬ(𝐷0→𝐾0𝑆𝐾0𝑆𝜋0)<1.45×10−4 at the 90% confidence level. Here, the first uncertainties are statistical, and the second ones are systematic. The newly studied decays greatly enrich the knowledge of the 𝐷→¯𝐾𝜋𝜋𝜋 and 𝐷→¯𝐾𝜋𝜋𝜋𝜋 hadronic decays and open a bridge to access more two-body hadronic 𝐷 decays containing scalar, vector, axial, and tensor mesons in the charm sector.
Luminosities and energies of e⁺e⁻ collision data taken between √s=4.61 GeV and 4.95 GeV at BESIII
(2022)
From December 2019 to June 2021, the BESIII experiment collected about 5.85 fb−1 of data at center-of-mass energies between 4.61 GeV and 4.95 GeV. This is the highest collision energy BEPCII has reached so far. The accumulated e+e− annihilation data samples are useful for studying charmonium(-like) states and charmed-hadron decays. By adopting a novel method of analyzing the production of Λ+cΛ¯−c pairs in e+e− annihilation, the center-of-mass energies are measured with a precision of ∼0.6 MeV. Integrated luminosities are measured with a precision of better than 1\% by analyzing the events of large-angle Bhabha scattering. These measurements provide important inputs to the analyses based on these data samples.
Based on 10 billion J/ψ events collected at the BESIII experiment, a search for CP violation in Λ decay is performed in the difference between CP-odd decay parameters α− for Λ→pπ− and α+ for Λ¯→p¯π+ by using the process e+e−→J/ψ→ΛΛ¯. With a five-dimensional fit to the full angular distributions of the daughter baryon, the most precise values for the decay parameters are determined to be α−=0.7519±0.0036±0.0024 and α+=−0.7559±0.0036±0.0030, respectively. The Λ and Λ¯ averaged value of the decay parameter is extracted to be αavg=0.7542±0.0010±0.0024 with unprecedented accuracy. The CP asymmetry ACP=(α−+α+)/(α−−α+) is determined to be −0.0025 ± 0.0046 ± 0.0012, which is one of the most precise measurements in the baryon sector. The reported results for the decay parameter will play an important role in the studies of the polarizations and CP violations for the strange, charmed and beauty baryons.
Using e+e− annihilation data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6.32 fb−1 collected at center-of-mass energies between 4.178 GeV and 4.226 GeV with the BESIII detector, we perform the first amplitude analysis of the decay D+s→K0SK+π0 and determine the relative branching fractions and phases for intermediate processes. We observe the a0(1710)+, the isovector partner of the f0(1710) and f0(1770) mesons, in its decay to K0SK+ for the first time. In addition, we measure the ratio B(D+s→K¯∗(892)0K+)B(D+s→K¯0K∗(892)+) to be 2.35+0.42−0.23stat.±0.10syst.. Finally, we provide a precision measurement of the absolute branching fraction B(D+s→K0SK+π0)=(1.46±0.06stat.±0.05syst.)%.
Using 448 million ψ(2S) events, the spin-singlet P-wave charmonium state hc(11P1) is studied via the ψ(2S)→π0hc decay followed by the hc→γηc transition. The branching fractions are measured to be BInc(ψ(2S)→π0hc)×BTag(hc→γηc)=(4.22+0.27−0.26±0.19)×10−4 , BInc(ψ(2S)→π0hc)=(7.32±0.34±0.41)×10−4, and BTag(hc→γηc)=(57.66+3.62−3.50±0.58)%, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. The hc(11P1) mass and width are determined to be M=(3525.32±0.06±0.15) MeV/c2 and Γ=(0.78+0.27−0.24±0.12) MeV. Partons traversing the strongly interacting medium produced in heavy-ion collisions are expected to lose energy depending on their color charge and mass. We measure the nuclear modification factors for charm- and bottom-decay electrons, defined as the ratio of yields, scaled by the number of binary nucleon-nucleon collisions, in sNN−−−√ = 200 GeV Au+Au collisions to p+p collisions (RAA), or in central to peripheral Au+Au collisions (RCP). We find the bottom-decay electron RAA and RCP to be significantly higher than that of charm-decay electrons. Model calculations including mass-dependent parton energy loss in a strongly coupled medium are consistent with the measured data. These observations provide clear evidence of mass ordering of charm and bottom quark energy loss when traversing through the strongly coupled medium created in heavy-ion collisions.

We present the first inclusive measurements of the invariant and SoftDrop jet mass in proton-proton collisions at s√=200 GeV at STAR. The measurements are fully corrected for detector effects, and reported differentially in both the jet transverse momentum and jet radius parameter. We compare the measurements to established leading-order Monte Carlo event generators and find that STAR-tuned PYTHIA-6 reproduces the data, while LHC tunes of PYTHIA-8 and HERWIG-7 do not agree with the data, providing further constraints on parameter tuning. Finally, we observe that SoftDrop grooming, for which the contribution of wide-angle non-perturbative radiation is suppressed, shifts the jet mass distributions into closer agreement with the partonic jet mass as determined by both PYTHIA-8 and a next-to-leading-logarithmic accuracy perturbative QCD calculation. These measurements complement recent LHC measurements in a different kinematic region, as well as establish a baseline for future jet mass measurements in heavy-ion collisions at RHIC.
We report a systematic measurement of cumulants, Cn, for net-proton, proton and antiproton, and correlation functions, κn, for proton and antiproton multiplicity distributions up to the fourth order in Au+Au collisions at sNN−−−√ = 7.7, 11.5, 14.5, 19.6, 27, 39, 54.4, 62.4 and 200 GeV. The Cn and κn are presented as a function of collision energy, centrality and kinematic acceptance in rapidity, y, and transverse momentum, pT. The data were taken during the first phase of the Beam Energy Scan (BES) program (2010 -- 2017) at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) facility. The measurements are carried out at midrapidity (|y|< 0.5) and transverse momentum 0.4 < pT < 2.0 GeV/c, using the STAR detector at RHIC. We observe a non-monotonic energy dependence (sNN−−−√ = 7.7 -- 62.4 GeV) of the net-proton C4/C2 with the significance of 3.1σ for the 0-5\% central Au+Au collisions. This is consistent with the expectations of critical fluctuations in a QCD-inspired model. Thermal and transport model calculations show a monotonic variation with sNN−−−√. For the multiparticle correlation functions, we observe significant negative values for a two-particle correlation function, κ2, of protons and antiprotons, which are mainly due to the effects of baryon number conservation. Furthermore, it is found that the four-particle correlation function, κ4, of protons plays a role in determining the energy dependence of proton C4/C1 below 19.6 GeV, which cannot be solely understood by the negative values of κ2 for protons.

We report high-precision measurements of the longitudinal double-spin asymmetry, 𝐴𝐿𝐿, for midrapidity inclusive jet and dijet production in polarized 𝑝𝑝 collisions at a center-of-mass energy of √𝑠=200 GeV. The new inclusive jet data are sensitive to the gluon helicity distribution, Δ𝑔(𝑥,𝑄2), for gluon momentum fractions in the range from 𝑥≃0.05 to 𝑥≃0.5, while the new dijet data provide further constraints on the 𝑥 dependence of Δ𝑔(𝑥,𝑄2). The results are in good agreement with previous measurements at √𝑠=200 GeV and with recent theoretical evaluations of prior world data. Our new results have better precision and thus strengthen the evidence that Δ𝑔(𝑥,𝑄2) is positive for 𝑥>0.05.
The STAR Collaboration reports measurements of the transverse single-spin asymmetry (TSSA) of inclusive 𝜋0 at center-of-mass energies (√𝑠) of 200 GeV and 500 GeV in transversely polarized proton-proton collisions in the pseudo-rapidity region 2.7 to 4.0. The results at the two different energies show a continuous increase of the TSSA with Feynman-𝑥, and, when compared to previous measurements, no dependence on √𝑠 from 19.4 GeV to 500 GeV is found. To investigate the underlying physics leading to this large TSSA, different topologies have been studied. 𝜋0 with no nearby particles tend to have a higher TSSA than inclusive 𝜋0. The TSSA for inclusive electromagnetic jets, sensitive to the Sivers effect in the initial state, is substantially smaller, but shows the same behavior as the inclusive 𝜋0 asymmetry as a function of Feynman-𝑥. To investigate final-state effects, the Collins asymmetry of 𝜋0 inside electromagnetic jets has been measured. The Collins asymmetry is analyzed for its dependence on the 𝜋0 momentum transverse to the jet thrust axis and its dependence on the fraction of jet energy carried by the 𝜋0. The asymmetry was found to be small in each case for both center-of-mass energies. All the measurements are compared to QCD-based theoretical calculations for transverse-momentum-dependent parton distribution functions and fragmentation functions. Some discrepancies are found, which indicates new mechanisms might be involved.
We report precision measurements of hypernuclei 3ΛH and 4ΛH lifetimes obtained from Au+Au collisions at \snn = 3.0\,GeV and 7.2\,GeV collected by the STAR experiment at RHIC, and the first measurement of 3ΛH and 4ΛH mid-rapidity yields in Au+Au collisions at \snn = 3.0\,GeV. The lifetimes are measured to be 221±15(stat.)±19(syst.)\,ps for 3ΛH and 218±6(stat.)±13(syst.)\,ps for 4ΛH. The pT-integrated yields of 3ΛH and 4ΛH are presented in different centrality and rapidity intervals. It is observed that the shape of the rapidity distribution of 4ΛH is different for 0--10\% and 10--50\% centrality collisions. Thermal model calculations, using the canonical ensemble for strangeness, describes the 3ΛH yield well, while underestimating the 4ΛH yield. Transport models, combining baryonic mean-field and coalescence (JAM) or utilizing dynamical cluster formation via baryonic interactions (PHQMD) for light nuclei and hypernuclei production, approximately describe the measured 3ΛH and 4ΛH yields.

We report a new measurement of the production cross section for inclusive electrons from open heavy-flavor hadron decays as a function of transverse momentum (pT) at mid-rapidity (|y|< 0.7) in p+p collisions at s√=200 GeV. The result is presented for 2.5 <pT< 10 GeV/c with an improved precision at high pT with respect to the previous measurements, and thus provides a better constraint on perturbative QCD calculations. Moreover, this measurement also provides a high-precision reference for measurements of nuclear modification factors for inclusive electrons from open-charm and -bottom hadron decays in heavy-ion collisions.

The STAR collaboration presents jet substructure measurements related to both the momentum fraction and the opening angle within jets in p+p and Au+Au collisions at sNN−−−√=200 GeV. The substructure observables include SoftDrop groomed momentum fraction (zg), groomed jet radius (Rg), and subjet momentum fraction ((zSJ)) and opening angle ((θSJ)). The latter observable is introduced for the first time. Fully corrected subjet measurements are presented for p+p collisions and are compared to leading order Monte Carlo models. The subjet θSJ distributions reflect the jets leading opening angle and are utilized as a proxy for the resolution scale of the medium in Au+Au collisions. We compare data from Au+Au collisions to those from p+p which are embedded in minimum-bias Au+Au events in order to include the effects of detector smearing and the heavy-ion collision underlying event. The subjet observables are shown to be more robust to the background than zg and (Rg).
We observe no significant modifications of the subjet observables within the two highest-energy, back-to-back jets, resulting in a distribution of opening angles and the splittings that are vacuum-like. We also report measurements of the differential di-jet momentum imbalance (AJ) for jets of varying θg. We find no qualitative differences in energy loss signatures for varying angular scales in the range 0.1<θSJ<0.3, leading to the possible interpretation that energy loss in this population of high momentum di-jet pairs, is due to soft medium-induced gluon radiation from a single color-charge as it traverses the medium.

We report on the first measurements of J/ψ production at very low transverse momentum (pT< 0.2 GeV/c) in hadronic Au+Au collisions at √sNN = 200 GeV and U+U collisions at √sNN = 193 GeV. Remarkably, the inferred nuclear modification factor of J/ψ at mid-rapidity in Au+Au (U+U) collisions reaches about 24 (52) for pT< 0.05 GeV/c in the 60-80% collision centrality class. This noteworthy enhancement cannot be explained by hadronic production accompanied by cold and hot medium effects. In addition, the dN/dt distribution of J/ψ for the very low pT range is presented for the first time. The distribution is consistent with that expected from the Au nucleus and shows a hint of interference. Comparison of the measurements to theoretical calculations of coherent production shows that the excess yield can be described reasonably well and reveals a partial disruption of coherent production in semi-central collisions, perhaps due to the violent hadronic interactions. Incorporating theoretical calculations, the results strongly suggest that the dramatic enhancement of J/ψ yield observed at extremely low pT originates from coherent photon-nucleus interactions. In particular, coherently produced J/ψ's in violent hadronic collisions may provide a novel probe of the quark-gluon-plasma.

We report new STAR measurements of the single-spin asymmetries 𝐴𝐿 for 𝑊+ and 𝑊− bosons produced in polarized proton-proton collisions at √𝑠=510 GeV as a function of the decay-positron and decay-electron pseudorapidity. The data were obtained in 2013 and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 250 pb−1. The results are combined with previous results obtained with 86 pb−1. A comparison with theoretical expectations based on polarized lepton-nucleon deep-inelastic scattering and prior polarized proton-proton data suggests a difference between the ¯𝑢 and ¯𝑑 quark helicity distributions for 0.05<𝑥<0.25. In addition, we report new results for the double-spin asymmetries 𝐴𝐿𝐿 for 𝑊±, as well as 𝐴𝐿 for 𝑍/𝛾* production and subsequent decay into electron-positron pairs.
Rapidity-odd directed flow measurements at midrapidity are presented for Λ, Λ¯, K±, K0s and ϕ at sNN−−−−√= 7.7, 11.5, 14.5, 19.6, 27, 39, 62.4 and 200 GeV in Au+Au collisions recorded by the STAR detector at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. These measurements greatly expand the scope of data available to constrain models with differing prescriptions for the equation of state of quantum chromodynamics. Results show good sensitivity for testing a picture where flow is assumed to be imposed before hadron formation and the observed particles are assumed to form via coalescence of constituent quarks. The pattern of departure from a coalescence-inspired sum-rule can be a valuable new tool for probing the collision dynamics.
Transverse spin transfer to Λ and ¯Λ hyperons in polarized proton-proton collisions at √𝑠=200 GeV
(2018)
The transverse spin transfer from polarized protons to Λ and Λ¯ hyperons is expected to provide sensitivity to the transversity distribution of the nucleon and to the transversely polarized fragmentation functions. We report the first measurement of the transverse spin transfer to Λ and Λ¯ along the polarization direction of the fragmenting quark, DTT, in transversely polarized proton-proton collisions at s√=200GeV with the STAR detector at RHIC. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 18pb−1 and cover the pseudorapidity range |η|<1.2 and transverse momenta pT up to 8GeV/c. The dependence on pT and η are presented. The DTT results are found to be comparable with a model prediction, and are also consistent with zero within uncertainties.
The acceptance-corrected dielectron excess mass spectra, where the known hadronic sources have been subtracted from the inclusive dielectron mass spectra, are reported for the first time at mid-rapidity |yee|<1 in minimum-bias Au+Au collisions at sNN−−−−√ = 19.6 and 200 GeV. The excess mass spectra are consistently described by a model calculation with a broadened ρ spectral function for Mee<1.1 GeV/c2. The integrated dielectron excess yield at sNN−−−−√ = 19.6 GeV for 0.4<Mee<0.75 GeV/c2, normalized to the charged particle multiplicity at mid-rapidity, has a value similar to that in In+In collisions at sNN−−−−√ = 17.3 GeV. For sNN−−−−√ = 200 GeV, the normalized excess yield in central collisions is higher than that at sNN−−−−√ = 17.3 GeV and increases from peripheral to central collisions. These measurements indicate that the lifetime of the hot, dense medium created in central Au+Au collisions at sNN−−−−√ = 200 GeV is longer than those in peripheral collisions and at lower energies.
Di-hadron correlations with identified leading hadrons in 200 GeV Au+Au and d+Au collisions at STAR
(2015)
The STAR collaboration presents for the first time two-dimensional di-hadron correlations with identified leading hadrons in 200 GeV central Au+Au and minimum-bias d+Au collisions to explore hadronization mechanisms in the quark gluon plasma. The enhancement of the jet-like yield for leading pions in Au+Au data with respect to the d+Au reference and the absence of such an enhancement for leading non-pions (protons and kaons) are discussed within the context of a quark recombination scenario. The correlated yield at large angles, specifically in the \emph{ridge region}, is found to be significantly higher for leading non-pions than pions. The consistencies of the constituent quark scaling, azimuthal harmonic model and a mini-jet modification model description of the data are tested, providing further constraints on hadronization.
STAR's measurements of directed flow (v1) around midrapidity for π±, K±, K0S, p and p¯ in Au + Au collisions at $\sqrtsNN = 200$ GeV are presented. A negative v1(y) slope is observed for most of produced particles (π±, K±, K0S and p¯). The proton v1(y) slope is found to be much closer to zero compared to antiprotons. A sizable difference is seen between v1 of protons and antiprotons in 5-30% central collisions. The v1 excitation function is presented. Comparisons to model calculations (RQMD, UrQMD, AMPT, QGSM with parton recombination, and a hydrodynamics model with a tilted source) are made. Anti-flow alone cannot explain the centrality dependence of the difference between the v1(y) slopes of protons and antiprotons.

For those models which have calculations of v1 for both pions and protons, none of them can describe v1(y) for pions and protons simultaneously. The hydrodynamics model with a tilted source as currently implemented cannot explain the centrality dependence of the difference between the v1(y) slopes of protons and antiprotons.
The STAR Collaboration at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider presents measurements of 𝐽/𝜓→𝑒+𝑒− at midrapidity and high transverse momentum (𝑝𝑇>5 GeV/𝑐) in 𝑝+𝑝 and central Cu+Cu collisions at √𝑠𝑁𝑁=200 GeV. The inclusive 𝐽/𝜓 production cross section for Cu+Cu collisions is found to be consistent at high 𝑝𝑇 with the binary collision-scaled cross section for 𝑝+𝑝 collisions. At a confidence level of 97%, this is in contrast to a suppression of 𝐽/𝜓 production observed at lower 𝑝𝑇. Azimuthal correlations of 𝐽/𝜓 with charged hadrons in 𝑝+𝑝 collisions provide an estimate of the contribution of 𝐵-hadron decays to 𝐽/𝜓 production of 13%±5%.
We study the beam-energy and system-size dependence of \phi meson production (using the hadronic decay mode \phi -- K+K-) by comparing the new results from Cu+Cu collisions and previously reported Au+Au collisions at \sqrt{s_NN} = 62.4 and 200 GeV measured in the STAR experiment at RHIC. Data presented are from mid-rapidity (|y|<0.5) for 0.4 < pT < 5 GeV/c. At a given beam energy, the transverse momentum distributions for \phi mesons are observed to be similar in yield and shape for Cu+Cu and Au+Au colliding systems with similar average numbers of participating nucleons. The \phi meson yields in nucleus-nucleus collisions, normalised by the average number of participating nucleons, are found to be enhanced relative to those from p+p collisions with a different trend compared to strange baryons. The enhancement for \phi mesons is observed to be higher at \sqrt{s_NN} = 200 GeV compared to 62.4 GeV. These observations for the produced \phi(s\bar{s}) mesons clearly suggest that, at these collision energies, the source of enhancement of strange hadrons is related to the formation of a dense partonic medium in high energy nucleus-nucleus collisions and cannot be alone due to canonical suppression of their production in smaller systems.
The cross sections of e+e−→K+K−J/ψ at center-of-mass energies from 4.127 to 4.600~GeV are measured based on 15.6 fb−1 data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring. Two resonant structures are observed in the line shape of the cross sections. The mass and width of the first structure are measured to be (4225.3±2.3±21.5) MeV and (72.9±6.1±30.8)~MeV, respectively. They are consistent with those of the established Y(4230). The second structure is observed for the first time with a statistical significance greater than 8σ, denoted as Y(4500). Its mass and width are determined to be (4484.7±13.3±24.1) MeV and (111.1±30.1±15.2) MeV, respectively. The first presented uncertainties are statistical and the second ones are systematic. The product of the electronic partial width with the decay branching fraction Γ(Y(4230)→e+e−)B(Y(4230)→K+K−J/ψ) is reported.

We study the direct production of the JPC=1++ charmonium state χc1(1P) in electron-positron annihilation by carrying out an energy scan around the mass of the χc1(1P). The data were collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. An interference pattern between the signal process e+e−→χc1(1P)→γJ/ψ→γμ+μ− and the background processes e+e−→γISRJ/ψ→γISRμ+μ− and e+e−→γISRμ+μ− are observed by combining all the data samples. The χc1(1P) signal is observed with a significance of 5.1σ. This is the first observation of a C-even state directly produced in e+e− annihilation. The electronic width of the χc1(1P) resonance is determined to be Γee=(0.12+0.13−0.08) eV, which is of the same order of magnitude as theoretical calculations.

Using e+e− annihilation data corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 6.32 fb−1 collected at the center-of-mass energies between 4.178 and 4.226 GeV with the BESIII detector, we perform an amplitude analysis of the decay D+s→K−K+π+π+π− and determine the relative fractions and phases of different intermediate processes. Absolute branching fraction of D+s→K−K+π+π+π− decay is measured to be (6.60±0.47stat.±0.35syst.)×10−3. The dominant intermediate process is D+s→a1(1260)+ϕ,ϕ→K−K+,a1(1260)+→ρπ+,ρ→π+π−, with a branching fraction of (5.16±0.41stat.±0.27syst.)×10−3.
We report an amplitude analysis and branching fraction measurement of D+s→K+K−π+ decay using a data sample of 3.19 fb−1 recorded with BESIII detector at a center-of-mass energy of 4.178 GeV.
We perform a model-independent partial wave analysis in the low K+K− mass region to determine the K+K− S-wave lineshape, followed by an amplitude analysis of our very pure high-statistics sample.
The amplitude analysis provides an accurate determination of the detection efficiency allowing us to measure the branching fraction B(D+s→K+K−π+)=(5.47±0.08stat±0.13sys)%.
