Using e+e− annihilation data sets collected with the BESIII detector, we measure the cross sections of the processes e+e−→e+e− and e+e−→μ+μ− at fifteen center-of-mass energy points in the vicinity of the J/ψ resonance. By a simultaneous fit to the measured, center-of-mass energy dependent cross sections of the two processes, the combined quantities ΓeeΓee/Γtot and ΓeeΓμμ/Γtot are determined to be (0.346±0.009) and (0.335±0.006) keV, respectively, where Γee, Γμμ, and Γtot are the electronic, muonic, and total decay widths of the J/ψ resonance, respectively. Using the resultant ΓeeΓμμ/Γtot and ΓeeΓee/Γtot, the ratio Γee/Γμμ is calculated to be 1.031±0.015, which is consistent with the expectation of lepton universality within about two standard deviations. Assuming lepton universality and using the branching fraction of the J/ψ leptonic decay measured by BESIII in 2013, Γtot and Γll are determined to be (93.0±2.1) and (5.56±0.11) keV, respectively, where Γll is the average leptonic decay width of the J/ψ resonance.
Observation of 𝜒𝑐𝐽→Λ¯Λ𝜂
(2022)
By analyzing (448.1±2.9)×106 𝜓(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, the decays of 𝜒𝑐𝐽→Λ
¯Λ𝜂 (𝐽=0, 1, and 2) are observed for the first time with statistical significances of 13.9𝜎, 6.7𝜎, and 8.2𝜎, respectively. The product branching fractions of 𝜓(3686)→𝛾𝜒𝑐𝐽 and 𝜒𝑐𝐽→Λ¯Λ𝜂 are measured. Dividing by the world averages of the branching fractions of 𝜓(3686)→𝛾𝜒𝑐𝐽, the branching fractions of 𝜒𝑐𝐽→Λ¯Λ𝜂 decays are determined to be (2.31±0.30±0.21)×10−4, (5.86±1.38±0.68)×10−5, and (1.05±0.21±0.15)×10−4 for 𝐽=0, 1 and 2, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic.
The radiative hyperon decay Λ→nγ is studied using (10087±44)×106 J/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector operating at BEPCII. The absolute branching fraction of the decay Λ→nγ is determined with a significance of 5.6σ to be [0.832±0.038(stat.)±0.054(syst.)]×10−3, which lies significantly below the current PDG value. By analyzing the joint angular distribution of the decay products, the first determination of the decay asymmetry αγ is reported with a value of −0.16±0.10(stat.)±0.05(syst.).
Using about 23 fb−1 of data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring, a precise measurement of the e+e−→π+π−J/ψ Born cross section is performed at center-of-mass energies from 3.7730 to 4.7008 GeV. Two structures, identified as the Y(4220) and the Y(4320) states, are observed in the energy-dependent cross section with a significance larger than 10σ. The masses and widths of the two structures are determined to be (M,Γ) = (4221.4±1.5±2.0 MeV/c2, 41.8±2.9±2.7 MeV) and (M,Γ) = (4298±12±26 MeV/c2, 127±17±10 MeV), respectively. A small enhancement around 4.5 GeV with a significance about 3σ, compatible with the ψ(4415), might also indicate the presence of an additional resonance in the spectrum. The inclusion of this additional contribution in the fit to the cross section affects the resonance parameters of the Y(4320) state.

We present the first observation of the singly Cabibbo-suppressed decay Λ+c→ΛK+π0 with a significance of 5.7σ and the first evidence of Λ+c→ΛK+π+π− decay with a significance of 3.1σ, based on e+e− annihilation data recorded by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 6.4 fb−1, in the center-of-mass energy range from 4.600 GeV to 4.950 GeV. We determine the branching fractions of Λ+c→ΛK+π0 and Λ+c→ΛK+π+π− relative to their Cabibbo-favored counterparts to be B(Λ+c→ΛK+π0)B(Λ+c→Λπ+π0)=(2.09±0.39stat.±0.07syst.)×10−2 and B(Λ+c→ΛK+π+π−)B(Λ+c→Λπ+π+π−)=(1.13±0.41stat.±0.06syst.)×10−2, respectively. Moreover, by combining our measured result with the world average of B(Λ+c→Λπ+π0), we obtain the branching fraction B(Λ+c→ΛK+π0)=(1.49±0.27stat.±0.05syst.±0.08ref.)×10−3. This result significantly departs from theoretical predictions based on quark SU(3) flavor symmetry, which is underpinned by the presumption of meson pair S-wave amplitude dominance.
Evidence for the singly Cabibbo suppressed decay Λ+c→pπ0 is reported for the first time with a statistical significance of 3.7σ based on 6.0 fb−1 of e+e− collision data collected at center-of-mass energies between 4.600 and 4.843 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. The absolute branching fraction of Λ+c→pπ0 is measured to be (1.56+0.72−0.58±0.20)×10−4. Combining with the branching fraction of Λ+c→nπ+, (6.6±1.2±0.4)×10−4, the ratio of the branching fractions Λ+c→nπ+ and Λ+c→pπ0 is calculated to be 4.2+2.2−1.9; this is an important input for the understanding of the decay mechanisms of charmed baryons. In addition, the absolute branching fraction of Λ+c→pη is measured to be (1.63±0.31stat±0.11syst)×10−3, which is consistent with previous measurements.
Using a sample of (10087±44)×106 𝐽/𝜓 events, which is about 45 times larger than that was previously analyzed, a further investigation on the 𝐽/𝜓→𝛾3(𝜋+𝜋−) decay is performed. A significant distortion at 1.84 GeV/𝑐2 in the line shape of the 3(𝜋+𝜋−) invariant mass spectrum is observed for the first time, which could be resolved by two overlapping resonant structures, 𝑋(1840) and 𝑋(1880). The new state 𝑋(1880) is observed with a statistical significance larger than 10𝜎. The mass and width of 𝑋(1880) are determined to be 1882.1±1.7±0.7 MeV/𝑐2 and 30.7±5.5±2.4 MeV, respectively, which indicates the existence of a 𝑝¯ 𝑝 bound state.
A search has been performed for the semileptonic decays D0→K0SK−e+νe, D+→K0SK0Se+νe and D+→K+K−e+νe, using 7.9 fb−1 of e+e− annihilation data collected at the center-of-mass energy s√=3.773 GeV by the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider. No significant signals are observed, and upper limits are set at the 90\% confidence level of 2.13×10−5, 1.54×10−5 and 2.10×10−5 for the branching fractions of D0→K0SK−e+νe, D+→K0SK0Se+νe and D+→K+K−e+νe, respectively.
We present cross sections for the reaction e+e−→K0SK0L at center-of-mass energies ranging from 3.51 GeV to 4.95 GeV using data samples collected in the BESIII experiment, corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 26.5 fb−1. The ratio of neutral-to-charged kaon form factors at large momentum transfers (12 GeV2<Q2<25 GeV2) is determined to be 0.21±0.01, which indicates a small but significant effect of flavor-SU(3) breaking in the kaon wave function, and consequently excludes the possibility that flavor-SU(3) breaking is the primary reason for the strong experimental violation of the pQCD prediction |F(π±)|/|F(K±)|=f2π/f2K, where F(π±) and F(K±) are the form factors, and fπ and fK are the decay constants of charged pions and kaons, respectively. We also observe a significant signal for the charmless decay ψ(3770)→K0SK0L for the first time. Within a 1σ contour of the likelihood value, the the branching fraction for ψ(3770)→K0SK0L is determined to be B=(2.63+1.40−1.59)×10−5, and the relative phase between the continuum and ψ(3770) amplitudes is ϕ=(−0.39+0.05−0.10)π. The branching fraction is in good agreement with the S- and D-wave charmonia mixing scheme proposed in the interpretation of the "ρπ puzzle" between J/ψ and ψ(3686) decays.
We measure the Born cross section for the reaction e+e−→ηhc from s√=4.129 to 4.600~GeV using data sets collected by the BESIII detector running at the BEPCII collider. A resonant structure in the cross section line shape near 4.200~GeV is observed with a statistical significance of 7σ. The parameters of this resonance are measured to be \MeasMass\ and \MeasWidth, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic.
he Born cross sections for the process 𝑒+𝑒−→𝜂′𝜋+𝜋− at different center-of-mass energies between 2.00 and 3.08 GeV are reported with improved precision from an analysis of data samples collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring. An obvious structure is observed in the Born cross section line shape. Fit as a Breit-Wigner resonance, it has a statistical significance of 6.3𝜎 and a mass and width of 𝑀=(2111±43±25) MeV/𝑐2 and Γ=(135±34±30) MeV, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. These measured resonance parameters agree with the measurements of BABAR in 𝑒+𝑒−→𝜂′𝜋+𝜋− and BESIII in 𝑒+𝑒−→𝜔𝜋0 within two standard deviations.
Using a data sample of (448.1±2.9)×106 𝜓(3686) decays collected at an 𝑒+𝑒− center-of-mass energy of 3.686 GeV by the BESIII detector at Beijing Electron Positron Collider II, we report an observation of the hindered electromagnetic Dalitz decay 𝜓(3686)→𝑒+𝑒−𝜂𝑐 with a significance of 7.9𝜎. The branching fraction is determined to be ℬ(𝜓(3686)→𝑒+𝑒−𝜂𝑐)=(3.77±0.40stat±0.18syst)×10−5, agreeing well with the prediction of the vector meson dominance model. This is the first measurement of the electromagnetic Dalitz transition between the 𝜓(3686) and the 𝜂𝑐, which provides new insight into the electromagnetic properties of this decay, and offers new opportunities to measure the absolute branching fractions of 𝜂𝑐 decays.
Observation of a near-threshold structure in the K⁺ recoil-mass spectra in e⁺e⁻ → K⁺(Dₛ⁻D*⁰+Dₛ*⁻D⁰)
(2021)
We report a study of the processes of 𝑒+𝑒−→𝐾+𝐷−𝑠𝐷*0 and 𝐾+𝐷*−𝑠𝐷0 based on 𝑒+𝑒− annihilation samples collected with the BESIII detector operating at BEPCII at five center-of-mass energies ranging from 4.628 to 4.698 GeV with a total integrated luminosity of 3.7 fb−1. An excess of events over the known contributions of the conventional charmed mesons is observed near the 𝐷−𝑠𝐷*0 and 𝐷*−𝑠𝐷0 mass thresholds in the 𝐾+ recoil-mass spectrum for events collected at √𝑠=4.681 GeV. The structure matches a mass-dependent-width Breit-Wigner line shape, whose pole mass and width are determined as (3982.5+1.8
−2.6±2.1) MeV/𝑐2 and (12.8+5.3−4.4±3.0) MeV, respectively. The first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. The significance of the resonance hypothesis is estimated to be 5.3 𝜎 over the contributions only from the conventional charmed mesons. This is the first candidate for a charged hidden-charm tetraquark with strangeness, decaying into 𝐷−𝑠𝐷*0 and 𝐷*−𝑠𝐷0. However, the properties of the excess need further exploration with more statistics.
We report a study of the processes of e+e−→K+(D−sD∗0+D∗−sD0) based on e+e− annihilation samples collected with the BESIII detector operating at BEPCII at five center-of-mass energies ranging from 4.628 to 4.698 GeV with a total integrated luminosity of 3.7 fb−1. An excess over the known contributions of the conventional charmed mesons is observed near the D−sD∗0 and D∗−sD0 mass thresholds in the K+ recoil-mass spectrum for events collected at s√=4.681 GeV. The structure matches a mass-dependent-width Breit-Wigner line shape, whose pole mass and width are determined as (3982.5+1.8−2.6±2.1) MeV/c2 and (12.8+5.3−4.4±3.0) MeV, respectively. The first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. The significance of the resonance hypothesis is estimated to be 5.3 σ over the contributions only from the conventional charmed mesons. This is the first candidate of the charged hidden-charm tetraquark with strangeness, decaying into D−sD∗0 and D∗−sD0. However, the properties of the excess need further exploration with more statistics.
Search for the reaction channel e⁺e⁻ → ηcηπ⁺π⁻ at center-of-mass energies from 4.23 to 4.60 GeV
(2021)
Using data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider, we search for the process 𝑒+𝑒−→𝜂𝑐𝜂𝜋+𝜋−. The search is performed using five large datasets recorded at center-of-mass energies of 4.23, 4.26, 4.36, 4.42, and 4.60 GeV. The 𝜂𝑐 meson is reconstructed in 16 exclusive decay modes. No signal is observed in the 𝜂𝑐 mass region at any center-of-mass energy. The upper limits on the reaction cross sections are determined to be 6.2, 10.8, 27.6, 22.6 and 23.7 pb at the 90% confidence level at the center-of-mass energies listed above.

The hadronic decay 𝜂𝑐(2𝑆)→3(𝜋+𝜋−) is observed with a statistical significance of 9.3 standard deviations using (448.1±2.9)×106 𝜓(3686) events collected by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. The measured mass and width of 𝜂𝑐(2𝑆) are (3643.4±2.3 (stat)±4.4 (syst)) MeV/𝑐2 and (19.8±3.9 (stat)±3.1 (syst)) MeV, respectively, which are consistent with the world average values within two standard deviations. The product branching fraction ℬ[𝜓(3686)→𝛾𝜂𝑐(2𝑆)]×ℬ[𝜂𝑐(2𝑆)→3(𝜋+𝜋−)] is measured to be (9.2±1.0 (stat)±1.2 (syst))×10−6. Using ℬ[𝜓(3686)→𝛾𝜂𝑐(2𝑆)]=(7.0+3.4−2.5)×10−4, we obtain ℬ[𝜂𝑐(2𝑆)→3(𝜋+𝜋−)]=(1.31±0.15 (stat)±0.17 (syst) (+0.64−0.47) (extr))×10−2, where the third uncertainty is from ℬ[𝜓(3686)→𝛾𝜂𝑐(2𝑆)]. We also measure the 𝜒𝑐𝐽→3(𝜋+𝜋−) (𝐽=0, 1, 2) decays via 𝜓′→𝛾𝜒𝑐𝐽 transitions. We report a measurement of the cross section for the process e+e−→π+π−J/ψ around the X(3872) mass in search for the direct formation of e+e−→X(3872) through the two-photon fusion process. No enhancement of the cross section is observed at the X(3872) peak and an upper limit on the product of electronic width and branching fraction of X(3872)→π+π−J/ψ is determined to be Γee×B(X(3872)→π+π−J/ψ)<7.5×10−3eV at 90% confidence level under an assumption of total width of 1.19±0.21 MeV. This is an improvement of a factor of about 17 compared to the previous limit. Furthermore, using the latest result of B(X(3872)→π+π−J/ψ), an upper limit on the electronic width Γee of X(3872) is obtained to be <0.32eV at the 90% confidence level.
