Die Arterfassung in den Naturschutzgebieten Sachsen-Anhalts weist einen heterogenen Bearbeitungsstand auf. Gerade für die Untersuchungen zur Biodiversität von Naturräumen ist sie aber unerlässlich. Fliegen-Familien spielten dabei bislang zumeist eine untergeordnete Rolle. Dennoch hat die Anzahl der aktiven Dipterologen in Sachsen-Anhalt zugenommen und erste Arbeitsergebnisse wurden als Checklisten (Frank & Neumann, 1999) sowie Rote Listen (Landesamt für Umweltschutz Sachsen-Anhalt 2004) dokumentiert. Weiterhin gibt es aber Fliegenfamilien, die trotz der relativen Häufigkeit zahlreicher Arten deutliche Erfassungsdefizite aufweisen oder gänzlich unbearbeitet sind. Mit der vorliegenden Arbeit soll die Dipterenfauna des Naturschutzgebiets (NSG) „Sprohne“ und seiner geplanten Erweiterungsflächen vorgestellt werden.
The genus-group taxon Megatrigon Johnson, 1898, stat. nov., is revised and treated as a valid genus within the Merodontini (= Eumerini). Extensive diagnoses are given for the genus and for its three constituent species groups: argenteus group [11 spp.], nivalis group [monotypic], sexfasciatus group [3 spp.]. Five new generic combinations are proposed within Megatrigon: M. argenteus (Walker, 1852) comb. nov., M. flavimarginatus (Hull, 1964) comb. nov., M. jacobi (Hervé-Bazin, 1913) comb. nov., M. nivalis (Hull, 1964) comb. nov. and M. ochreatus (Hull, 1964) comb. nov. All species of the argenteus group are revised and nine new species are described: Megatrigon apiformis sp. nov., M. argentifrons sp. nov., M. argentimaculatus sp. nov., M. cooksoni sp. nov., M. immaculatus sp. nov., M. magnicornis sp. nov., M. natalensis sp. nov., M. sexmaculatus sp. nov., M. tabanoides sp. nov. Within the sexfasciatus group, M. jacobi (Hervé-Bazin, 1913) comb. nov. is treated as a senior synonym of Eumerus connexus Hull, 1964 syn. nov., but no further work is done at the species level due to insufficient material.
The Oriental species of the genus Sphegina Meigen, 1822 are revised. The following 43 new species are described: Sphegina (Sphegina) abbreviata sp. nov. (Nepal), S. (S.) angustata sp. nov. (Nepal), S. (Asiosphegina) albolobata sp. nov. (Vietnam), S. (Asiosphegina) amplistylus sp. nov. (Philippines), S. (A.) atrimanus sp. nov. (Vietnam), S. (A.) bifida sp. nov. (Sabah, Malaysia), S. (A.) bracon sp. nov. (Vietnam), S. (A.) brevipilis sp. nov. (China), S. (A.) clavigera sp. nov. (Vietnam), S. (A.) collicola sp. nov. (Malaysia), S. (A.) crinita sp. nov. (Java, Indonesia; Malaysia), S. (A.) dentata sp. nov. (Taiwan), S. (A.) distincta sp. nov. (Vietnam), S. (A.) exilipes sp. nov. (Java, Indonesia), S. (A.) farinosa sp. nov. (Sabah, Malaysia), S. (A.) fimbriata sp. nov. (Thailand), S. (A.) furcillata sp. nov. (Vietnam), S. (A.) ghatsi sp. nov. (India), S. (A.) gigantea sp. nov. (China), S. (A.) granditarsis sp. nov. (China), S. (A.) hamulata sp. nov. (India), S. (A.) hauseri sp. nov. (Nepal), S. (A.) incretonigra sp. nov. (Vietnam), S. (A.) inflata sp. nov. (Philippines), S. (A.) inventum sp. nov. (Sabah, Malaysia), S. (A.) umbrosa sp. nov. (China), S. (A.) verrucosa sp. nov. (Vietnam) and S. (A.) vietnamensis sp. nov. (Vietnam). Sphegina. (A.) tenuis Brunetti, 1915 is not a synonym of S. (A.) javana de Meijere, 1914. The males of S. (A.) apicalis Shiraki, 1930, S. (A.) tricoloripes Brunetti, 1915 and S. (A.) varidissima Shiraki, 1930 and the females of S. (A.) achaeta Hippa, van Steenis & Mutin, 2015, S. (A.) index Hippa, van Steenis & Mutin, 2015, S. (A.) mirifica Hippa, van Steenis & Mutin, 2015 and S. (S.) quadriseta Huo & Ren, 2006 are described for the first time. Sphegina (S.) quadriseta is recorded for the first time in the Oriental region. A key to all the Oriental species of Sphegina is provided. The Oriental fauna of Sphegina now comprises 94 species.
Although Sweden is a country with a comparatively well-known fauna, there are still many species that await discovery, especially in the boreal regions. In this study five new species of Diplazontinae, Homotropus klopfsteinae sp. nov., Homotropus hellqvisti sp. nov., Homotropus mugerwai sp. nov., Homotropus riedeli sp. nov. and Woldstedtius aureotibialis sp. nov., are described. Sussaba roberti Klopfstein, 2014 and Homotropus megaspis (Thomson, 1890) are reported for the first time from Sweden. Four of the new species are described from boreal areas, which highlights the need to further investigate the river- and seaside areas of the western taiga.
The genus Cheilosia (Diptera: Syrphidae: Rhingiini) of Nepal is reviewed. We recorded 37 species of Cheilosia, of which 29 species are described here. Twenty-six of the new species are classified to a subgenus: Cheilosia (Cheilosia) angusta sp. nov., C. (C.) falcata sp. nov., C. (C.) hauseri sp. nov., C. (C.) maculata sp. nov., C. (C.) pica sp. nov., C. (C.) pilivena sp. nov., C. (C.) spinosa sp. nov., C. (C.) spuria sp. nov., C. (C.) weiperti sp. nov., C. (Montanocheila) albipicta sp. nov., C. (M.) alpha sp. nov., C. (M.) brevimontana sp. nov., C. (M.) gilva sp. nov., C. (M.) minuscula sp. nov., C. (M.) nigella sp. nov., C. (M.) pernigra sp. nov., C. (M.) picta sp. nov., C. (Floccocheila) collis sp. nov., C. (F.) crassata sp. nov., C. (F.) illustratoides sp. nov., C. (F.) indistincta sp. nov., C. (F.) leucozonoides sp. nov., C. (F.) vellea sp. nov., C. (Eucartosyrphus) procera sp. nov., C. (Pollinocheila) rava sp. nov., and C. (Taeniochilosia) nepalensis sp. nov. The remaining three new species, C. flavigena sp. nov., C. insolita sp. nov., and C. versa sp. nov., are described based on a female only, and are thus not classified to a subgenus. The subgenus Taeniochilosia Oldenberg, 1916 is here re-defined to also include species with a pilose eye in combination with the previously defined characters. Cheilosia nigriventris Barkalov & Cheng, 2004 is herewith placed as junior synonym of Cheilosia erratica Barkalov & Peck, 1997, and the description of the female sex is provided. We provide digital photographs and line drawings to illustrate morphological details of all species, and an identification key to the subgenera and to the species recorded for Nepal. We explored the infrageneric classification of some Nepalese species new to science for which molecular work was possible using mtDNA COI barcode sequences. A maximum likelihood analysis of the assembled COI barcode dataset with multiple representatives of the most speciose Palearctic subgenera of Cheilosia resolved the included seven taxa from Nepal within subgenera Cheilosia s. str. and Montanocheila Barkalov, 2002. The large number of new species of this study highlights the still prevailing incomplete knowledge of this speciose genus in the montane regions of the Palearctic and Oriental realms.
