This study is a survey of the bryophyte species that occur on the trunks of Cyathea delgadii Sternb. (Cyatheaceae), a native tree fern, encountered in a fragment of Atlantic forest located in the area of the „Parque Estadual das Fontes do Ipiranga (PEFI)“, São Paulo State, Brazil. Specimens of bryophytes were collected from March 2001 to October 2003. We found 35 bryophyte species (12 spp. of mosses and 23 of liverworts). Ceratolejeuenea dentacornuta Steph. is presented as a new record for Brazil. A brief discussion about previous records of bryophyte species growing on trunks of tree ferns in Brazil is also presented.
Seven new moss records are reported for Thailand moss flora, namely Anacamptodon latidens, Fissidens beckettii, Fissidens bryoides var. esquirolii, Fissidens bryoides var. schmidii, Fissidens flabellulus, Fissidens guangdongensis, and Weissia platystegia. Anacamptodon is a new generic record for Indochina. Anacamptodon latidens, Fissidens bryoides var. esquirolii, Fissidens bryoides var. schmidii, Fissidens flabellulus, and Fissidens guangdongensis are also new records for the Indochinese moss flora.
Con base en registros de literatura investigada se presenta un listado preliminar de 23 especies de la familia Aneuracea (Hepatophyta) para Venezuela, de las cuales 1 corresponde al género Aneura y 22 al género Riccardia. Los Andes y la región al sur del río Orinoco, son las áreas con mayor información disponible.
During a joint field trip organised by H. Streimann in 1999, the authors collected large amount of bryophytes in Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria states and in the Austral Capital Territory (A.C.T.). Some of them proved to be new state records, or new records for Australia. The list below is the first selection of these records in Hepaticae, with 16 species newly reported from the whole continent.
The palaeotropic moss genus Radulina W.R.Buck & B.C.Tan is revised, resulting in the genus being reduced to four species and one variety. The following 14 names become synonyms of the oldest name in the genus, Radulina borbonica (Bél.) W.R.Buck: Hypnum hamatum Dozy & Molk., Sematophyllum subinstratum Besch., Hypnum trachyamphorum Müll.Hal., Sigmatella hamicuspis Müll.Hal. in Paris, nom. nud., Trichosteleum borbonicum var. brachycarpum Renauld & Cardot, Trichosteleum subtile Broth. & Watts, Trichosteleum aequoreum M.Fleisch. ex Dixon, Trichosteleum elegantissimum M.Fleisch., Trichosteleum elegantissima var. scabriseta M.Fleisch., Trichosteleum hamatum var. glabriseta M.Fleisch., Trichosteleum hamatum var. tuberculisetum M.Fleisch., Trichosteleum carolinarum Dixon, Trichosteleum neocaledonicum Thér, Trichosteleum flexuosa-hamatum Dixon. In addition, three of these taxa are lectotypified: Trichosteleum subtile Broth. & Watts, Trichosteleum aequoreum M.Fleisch. ex Dixon and Trichosteleum hamatum var. tuberculisetum M.Fleisch. The following are new combinations: Radulina borbonica var. ferriei (Cardot & Thér. in Thér.) O’Shea (= Radulina hamata var. ferriei (Cardot & Thér. in Thér.) B.C.Tan & Y.Jia), Radulina sematophylloides (Dixon) O’Shea (= Trichosteleum sematophylloides Dixon) and Trichosteleum koghiense (Thér.) O’Shea (= Trichosteleum neocaledonicum var. koghiense Thér.).
97 species of bryophytes are reported as new for the island of Bioko, 89 of them are new for whole Equatorial Guinea, a remarkable amount is new for tropical West Africa and Micromitrium tenerum is new for sub-Saharan Africa. The bryoflora of the highest mountain of Bioko, the Pico Basile, shoes strongly phytogeographic affinities with Mt Cameroon on the African mainland. Rhabdoweisia lineata P.W. Richards & Argent, which was made a synonym of R. fugax (Hedw.) Bruch, Schimp. & W. Gümbel by Frahm & al. (2000) is regarded as a clear distinct species.
The moss flora of the Los Ruiles Nature Reserve, Maule region (VII), central Chile was investigated. Los Ruiles is a small forest reserve dominated by Nothofagus trees and surrounded by plantations of Pinus radiata. The moss species list contains 72 taxa, among which are 36 species newly reported for the Maule region. Several species reach their northernmost known limit in the reserve, including Achrophyllum magellanicum var. magellanicum, Ancistrodes genuflexa, Cryphaea consimilis, Dendrocryphaea lechleri, Lembophyllum orbiculatum, Leptostomum menziesii, Symblepharis krausei, and Zygodon papillatus. To ensure the survival of these rare or local bryophytes, an increase of the proportion of Nothofagus trees in the forests surrounding the reserve is desirable.
Twenty eight hepatics and eight hornwort species are reported as new to Panama. Data on their habitat, local and general distribution and are included. One species, Cololejeunea panamensis G. Dauphin & Pócs is described as new to science. A new combination, Megaceros canaliculatus (Pagán) Shaw & Renzaglia, corr. et emend. J. C. Vill. & Salazar Allen, is proposed. Eight further hepatic records from the literature have been added. This raises the total number of hepatics reported from Panama to 325 species in 100 genera and 28 families.
Briófitos de Cáceres, Pantanal de Matogrosso, Brasil, con nuevos registros para el estado y el país

O ecossistema Pantanal ainda permanece pouco conhecido do ponto de vista briológico, com poucas coleções e quase nenhuma literatura. Neste contexto, este trabalho apresenta uma inédita contribuição para o conhecimento da diversidade briológica Pantaneira. Com uma população de 85.857 habitantes em 27.462,38 quilômetros quadrados, entre as coordenadas 16º11’42" S e 57º40’51" W, o municípo de Cáceres, está totalmente inserido no ecossistema Pantanal. Sua brioflora nunca foi estudada anteriormente. Neste trabalho apresentamos a ocorrência de 5 hepáticas e 21 musgos, entre os quais: Barbula indica (Hook.) Spreng., Calymperes palisoti Schwägr., Fabronia ciliaris var polycarpa (Hook) W.R.Buck, Taxiphyllum taxirameum (Mitt.) M. Fleisch. e Tortella lilliputana (Müll. Hal. ex G. Roth) R.H. Zander, são citadas pela primeira vez para o estado do Mato Grosso. Fissidens dissitifolius Sull. está sendo citado pela primeira vez para o Brasil e Tortella lilliputana (Müll. Hal. ex G. Roth) R.H. Zander é citada pela segunda vez. Os dados sugerem o quão pouco conhecida é a brioflora do ecossistema Pantanal e do Estado do Mato Grosso, sendo necessárias mais coletas e estudos na região.
