Flora et Vegetatio Sudano-Sambesica (formerly "Etudes sur la flore et la végétation du Burkina Faso et des pays avoisinantes") is a refereed, international journal aimed at presenting high quality papers dealing with all fields of geobotany and ethnobotany of the Sudano-Sambesian zone and adjacent regions. The journal welcomes fundamental and applied research articles as well as review papers and short communications. English is the preferred language but papers written in French will also be accepted. The papers should be written in a style that is understandable for specialists of other disciplines as well as interested politicians and higher level practitioners. Acceptance for publication is subject to a referee-process. In contrast to its predecessor (the "Etudes …") that was a series occurring occasionally, Flora et Vegetatio Sudano-Sambesica is a journal, being published regularly with one volume per year. Edited by Rüdiger Wittig (Frankfurt), Sita Guinko (Ouagadougou), Brice Sinsin (Cotonou), Adjima Thiombiano (Ouagadougou).
This project come out from our need to harness voices in Africa and Latin America, giving these voices an opportunity to converse, argue, synthesize, agree, and share ideas on the craft of writing, on life, on being and on thinking for the benefit of all. It was also an opportunity to create literary friendships and contacts between these two great regions. Generally, Latin America and Africa still have a lot of stories to share among themselves and with the rest of the world. There are still very strong untapped storytelling traditions in these continents. The stories in this volume are selected from an amazing range of entries to a call for contributions to an anthology on experimentation. It is hoped this robust selection will serve a wide variety of tastes in both Spanish and English, and that the book will open dialogue and the sharing of ideas between the two regions and the whole world. This is an invaluable contribution on many fronts.
In 2005, a United Nations study reported that half of the world's languages (estimated at 6,000) would disappear by the end of this century. A third of these endangered languages are in Africa where, according to the same study, nearly 250 languages have disappeared in the last century. Language is the heart, identity, storage system for the collective and unique memory and experience of every culture, people, including their natural habitat. Loss of language means loss of the ability to retain and pass on not just a belief system but also invaluable knowledge to future generations. This English-Lekongho/Lekongho-English Dictionary is a modest first attempt to minimize the envisaged sad phenomenon of language loss. Nkongho-Mbo people speak Lekongho, one of the five variants of the Mbo language of the Mbo ethnic group of Cameroon, with their ancestral home in the Kupe Muanenguba Administrative Area of the South-west Region. With this book, the authors' fervent hope is that there will no longer surface any justification to continue to refrain from speaking Lekongho on a daily basis. This effort will help to regionalize, nationalize and internationalize the Lekongho language since Nkongho people are spread all over the country, Africa and the world.
The English-Ciyawo dictionary has been designed to help Yawo learners improve their English language skills for undertaking secondary school and university in the following ways: It helps a Yawo learner identify and learn the 3,000 most important and frequently used words in the English language. According to the articles of the ENCYCLOPAEDIA CINEMATOGRAPHICA (s. No. 2, p. 150) those who put a film at the disposal of the Encyclopacdia are considered to be its members. ...
