Hintergrund: Ab Frühjahr 2020 kam es zur weltweiten Verbreitung von SARS-CoV‑2 mit der heute als erste Welle der Pandemie bezeichneten Phase ab März 2020. Diese resultierte an vielen Kliniken in Umstrukturierungen und Ressourcenverschiebungen. Ziel unserer Arbeit war die Erfassung der Auswirkungen der Pandemie auf die universitäre Hals-Nasen-Ohren(HNO)-Heilkunde für die Forschung, Lehre und Weiterbildung. Material und Methoden: Die Direktorinnen und Direktoren der 39 Universitäts-HNO-Kliniken in Deutschland wurden mithilfe einer strukturierten Online-Befragung zu den Auswirkungen der Pandemie im Zeitraum von März bis April 2020 auf die Forschung, Lehre und die Weiterbildung befragt. Ergebnisse: Alle 39 Direktorinnen und Direktoren beteiligten sich an der Umfrage. Hiervon gaben 74,4 % (29/39) an, dass es zu einer Verschlechterung ihrer Forschungstätigkeit infolge der Pandemie gekommen sei. Von 61,5 % (24/39) wurde berichtet, dass pandemiebezogene Forschungsaspekte aufgegriffen wurden. Von allen Kliniken wurde eine Einschränkung der Präsenzlehre berichtet und 97,5 % (38/39) führten neue digitale Lehrformate ein. Im Beobachtungszeitraum sahen 74,4 % der Klinikdirektoren die Weiterbildung der Assistenten nicht gefährdet. Schlussfolgerung: Die Ergebnisse geben einen Einblick in die heterogenen Auswirkungen der Pandemie. Die kurzfristige Bearbeitung pandemiebezogener Forschungsthemen und die Einführung innovativer digitaler Konzepte für die studentische Lehre belegt eindrücklich das große innovative Potenzial und die schnelle Reaktionsfähigkeit der HNO-Universitätskliniken, um auch während der Pandemie ihre Aufgaben in der Forschung, Lehre und Weiterbildung bestmöglich zu erfüllen.
In recent years, critics and art historians have pointed to an 'educational turn', a rise in participatory pedagogical art projects and artist-led experimental schools. This essay considers artist-led projects and museum programmes that restage or reenact educational experiments from the past, analysing their limits and possibilities in the study and presentation of modern art history. Much like performance art, pedagogy is ephemeral and contingent, and yet it differs in that it does not establish a fixed spectatorial role. To be understood it must be participated in, for, as Josef Albers described his teaching, 'we are gathering experience'.
Aims: Understanding the orientation of fracture lines and mechanisms is the essential key to sufficient surgical therapy, but there is still a lack of visualization and teaching methods in traumatology and fracture theory. 3D-printed models offer easy approach to those fractures. This paper explains the use of the teaching possibility with 3-dimensional models of transitional fractures of the ankle.
Methods and results: For generating 3D printable models, already obtained CT data were used and segmented into its different tissues, especially parts concerning the fracture. After the segmentation process, the models were produced with FFF (fused filament fabrication) printing technology. The fracture models then were used for hands-on teaching courses in AO course (Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Osteosynthesefragen) of pediatric traumatology in 2020 in Frankfurt. In the course fracture anatomy with typical fracture lines, approaches, and screw placement could be shown, discussed and practiced.
Conclusion: The study shows the use of 3D-printed teaching models and helps to understand complicated fractures, in this case, transitional fractures of the ankle. The teaching method can be adapted to numerous other use cases.
Background: High reproducibility and low intra- and interobserver variability are important strengths of cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR). In clinical practice a significant learning curve may however be observed. Basic CMR courses offer an average of 1.4 h dedicated to lecturing and demonstrating left ventricular (LV) function analysis. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of initial teaching on complete and intermediate beginners’ quantitative measurements of LV volumes and function by CMR.
Methods: Standard clinical cine CMR sequences were acquired in 15 patients. Five observers (two complete beginners, one intermediate, two experienced) measured LV volumes. Before initial evaluation beginners read the SCMR guidelines on CMR analysis. After initial evaluation, beginners participated in a two-hour teaching session including cases and hands-on training, representative for most basic CMR courses, after which it is uncertain to what extent different centres provide continued teaching and feedback in-house. Dice Similarity Coefficient (DSC) assessed delineations. Agreement, accuracy, precision, repeatability and reliability were assessed by Bland-Altman, coefficient of variation, and intraclass correlation coefficient methods.
Results: Endocardial DSC improved after teaching (+0.14 ± 0.17;p < 0.001) for complete beginners. Low intraobserver variability was found before and after teaching, however with wide limits of agreement. Beginners underestimated volumes by up to 44 ml (EDV), 27 ml (ESV) and overestimated LVM by up to 53 g before teaching, improving to an underestimation of up to 9 ml (EDV), 7 ml (ESV) and an overestimation of up to 30 g (LVM) after teaching. For the intermediate beginner, however, accuracy was quite high already before teaching.
Conclusions: Initial teaching to complete beginners increases accuracy for assessment of LV volumes, however with high bias and low precision even after standardised teaching as offered in most basic CMR courses. Even though the intermediate beginner showed quite high accuracy already before teaching, precision did generally not improve after standardised teaching. To maintain CMR as a technique known for high accuracy and reproducibility and low intra- and inter-observer variability for quantitative measurements, internationally standardised training should be encouraged including high-quality feedback mechanisms. Objective measurements of training methods, training duration and, above all, quality of assessments are required.
A tradução pode ser considerada um recurso metodológico para o ensino de línguas estrangeiras, sendo que diferentes pesquisas apresentam múltiplas propostas didático-metodológicas para sua inserção em contextos de ensino/aprendizagem. No entanto, a manutenção dos argumentos contrários ao uso da tradução nesse âmbito sugere que essas pesquisas não são suficientemente conhecidas. Este artigo apresenta uma análise de atividades de tradução voltadas para o ensino da língua alemã, extraídas de uma bibliografia em língua alemã sobre esse tema, compilada nos últimos anos. Verificou-se de que modo essas atividades são propostas e se estão relacionadas aos papéis atribuídos historicamente à tradução no ensino de línguas. Visou-se identificar, nas atividades, características que permitam confirmar ou refutar críticas contrárias ao uso da tradução no ensino. A bibliografia estudada contém propostas de reformulação de atividades de tradução utilizadas anteriormente, assim como novas ideias e sugestões. Observa-se que a tradução continua a fazer parte das práticas em sala de aula e que, por influência de perspectivas mais recentes sobre o ensino de línguas, as formas de utilizá-la são constantemente modificadas, de modo que as críticas existentes não se justificam. A pesquisa visa contribuir para divulgação de novas formas de utilização da tradução no ensino de alemão como língua estrangeira.
