The moss flora of Argentina contains 990 species, 5 subspecies and 56 accepted varieties in 264 genera, plus 1 species and 13 varieties which are only tentatively accepted. The checklist includes legitimate accepted taxa with primary references and distributional data for Argentine provinces. All entries to the list are based on literature records. Additionally, the recognized taxonomic and nomenclatural synonyms are given in a separate alphabetical list. An extensive bibliography is given to vouch for occurrence of the plants and a map helps in the location of provincial distributions.
El género Metzgeria (Metzgeriales-Hepatophyta) en los bosques montanos del Noroeste de Argentina
(2002)
Four species of Metzgeria found in northwestern Argentina are described and illustrated. All the species are new to northwestern Argentina, with exception of M. myriopoda Lindb. (known for Tucumán and Misiones), and are new records for Argentina.
The Oryctini (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae) are dynastine scarab beetles with a worldwide distribution consisting of 26 genera and about 230 species, of which 14 genera and 135 species are distributed in the Neotropical region. The species of this tribe occur in habitats ranging from temperate and tropical dry forests to rain forests and cloud forests from sea level to 2600 m in elevation. Some species feed on organic matter or decaying fruits while others bore into the stems of living plants, in which case they occasionally reach pest status. Knowledge of the tribe in the Neotropics is still fragmentary, necessitating further studies that address taxonomy, phylogeny, and geographical distribution patterns of the species. This study surveyed the Oryctini of Colombia. In Colombia there are 7 genera and 32 species, found in 29 departments, 330 municipal districts and approximately 628 specific localities. Heterogomphus curvicornis Prell, Megaceras jason (Fabricius), and Podischnus oberthueri Sternberg are reported for the first time from Colombia. Taxonomic descriptions and distribution maps are provided for all species. An identification key, in Spanish and English, is provided for all oryctine species that occur in Colombia. A checklist of the oryctine beetles of the Colombia is provided.
A moss inventory for Departamento de Nariño, Colombia records 392 species distributed among 169 genera and 51 families. Taxa newly recorded for Colombia include: Daltonia jamesonii Taylor, Dicranella varia (Hedw.) Schimp., Isopterygium subbrevisetum (Hampe) Broth., Lepyrodontopsis trichophylla (Hedw.) Broth., Macromitrium trichophyllum Mitt., Philonotis incana (Taylor) H. Rob., Racomitrium lamprocarpum (Müll. Hal.) A. Jaeger, Rauiella lagoensis (Hampe) W. R. Buck, Sphagnum cuculliformes H. A. Crum, Stenodesmus tenuicuspis (Mitt.) A. Jaeger, Syrrhopodon isthmi W. D. Reese, Taxithelium pluripunctatum (Renauld & Cardot) W. R. Buck; Lepyrodontopsis and Stenodesmus represent genera new to the country.
Nees, L. geophila Spruce, L. grossitexta (Steph.) E.Reiner & Goda, L. laetevirens Nees & Mont., L. lepida Lindenb. & Gottsche, L. monimiae (Steph.) Steph., L. phyllobola Nees & Mont., L. ptosimophylla C.Massal., L. puiggariana Steph., L. quinqueumbonata Spruce, L. setiloba Spruce, L. tapajosensis Spruce, L. trinitensis Lindenb., Taxilejeunea obtusangula (Spruce) A.Evans, T. pterigonia (Lehm. & Lindenb.) Schiffn. y T. terricola (Spruce) Steph. Se proponen cinco sinónimos nuevos (Lejeunea flava (Sw.) Nees [syn. nov.: L. symphoreta Spruce], L. lepida Lindenb. & Gottsche [syn. nov.: L. cladobola Spruce] y L. phyllobola Nees & Mont. [syn. nov.: L. cephalandra Spruce, L. polycephala Spruce y L. brittoniae (A.Evans) Grolle]), y cuatro lectotipificaciones (L. lepida Lindenb. & Gottsche, L. monimiae (Steph.) Steph., L. phyllobola Nees & Mont. y L. quinqueumbonata Spruce).
R.M.Schust., C. comans (Spruce) R.M.Schust., C. oncophylla (Ångstr.) Grolle & Reiner, C. rigidula (Nees ex Mont.) R.M.Schust., C. trifaria (Reinw., Blume & Nees) Mizut. y Lepidolejeunea involuta (Gottsche) Grolle. Una clave para la identificación de las especies de Cheilolejeunea, así como ilustraciones de los taxa tratados, con excepción de C. oncophylla, completan el trabajo.
Four species of Streptopogon are new to Argentina. The Bolivian S. heterophyllus, the only species previously registered is excluded from the Argentinian flora, and a major range extension of the Mexican S. matudianus is presented. Treatment of all four taxa includes descriptions, illustrations and SEM micrographs of sporophytic characters.
