Using (447.9 ± 2.3) million ψ(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector, the decays of χcJ→ϕϕ (J=0, 1, 2) have been studied via the decay ψ(3686)→γχcJ. The branching fractions of the decays χcJ→ϕϕ (J=0, 1, 2) are determined to be (8.48±0.26±0.27)×10−4, (4.36±0.13±0.18)×10−4, and (13.36±0.29±0.49)×10−4, respectively, which are the most precise measurements to date. From a helicity amplitude analysis of the process ψ(3686)→γχcJ,χcJ→ϕϕ,ϕ→K+K−, the polarization parameters of the χcJ→ϕϕ decays are determined for the first time.
Search for the reaction channel e⁺e⁻ → ηcηπ⁺π⁻ at center-of-mass energies from 4.23 to 4.60 GeV
(2021)
Using data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider, we search for the process 𝑒+𝑒−→𝜂𝑐𝜂𝜋+𝜋−. The search is performed using five large datasets recorded at center-of-mass energies of 4.23, 4.26, 4.36, 4.42, and 4.60 GeV. The 𝜂𝑐 meson is reconstructed in 16 exclusive decay modes. No signal is observed in the 𝜂𝑐 mass region at any center-of-mass energy. The upper limits on the reaction cross sections are determined to be 6.2, 10.8, 27.6, 22.6 and 23.7 pb at the 90% confidence level at the center-of-mass energies listed above.
Based on e+e− collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.5 fb−1 collected at the center-of-mass energies between 4.600 and 4.699 GeV with the BESIII detector at BEPCII, the absolute branching fraction of the inclusive decay Λ+c→n+X, where X refers to any possible final state particles, is measured. The absolute branching fraction is determined to be B(Λ+c→n+X)=(32.4±0.7±1.5)%, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. Assuming CP symmetry, the measurement indicates that about one-fourth of Λ+c (Λ¯−c) decay modes with a neutron (an anti-neutron) in the final state have not been observed.

The absolute branching fraction is determined to be B(Λ¯−c→n¯+X)=(33.5±0.7±1.2)%, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. Neglecting the effect of CP violation, the measurement indicates that about one-fourth of Λ+c decay modes with a neutron in the final state have not been observed.
Measurement of the absolute branching fraction of the singly Cabibbo suppressed decay Λc⁺ → pη′
(2022)
The singly Cabibbo suppressed decay Λ+c→pη′ is measured using 4.5 fb−1 of e+e− collision data collected at center-of-mass energies between 4.600 and 4.699 GeV with the BESIII detector at BEPCII. Evidence for Λ+c→pη′ with a statistical significance of 3.6σ is reported with a double-tag approach. The Λ+c→pη′ absolute branching fraction is determined to be (5.62+2.46−2.04±0.26)×10−4, where the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. Our result is consistent with the branching fraction obtained by the Belle collaboration within the uncertainty of 1σ.
We report on an analysis of the decay J/ψ→γπ0η′ using a sample of (1310.6±7.0)× 106 J/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector. We search for the CP-violating process ηc→π0η′ and a dark gauge boson U′ in J/ψ→U′η′, U′→γπ0, π0→γγ. No evidence of an ηc signal is observed in the π0η′ invariant-mass spectrum and the upper limit of the branching fraction is determined to be 7.2× 10−5 at the 90\% confidence level. We also find no evidence of U′ production and set upper limits at the 90\% confidence level on the product branching fraction B(J/ψ→U′η′)×B(U′→π0γ) in the range between (0.8−6.5)×10−7 for 0.2 ≤mU′≤2.1GeV/c2. In addition, we study the process J/ψ→ωη′ with ω→γπ0. The branching fraction of J/ψ→ωη′ is found to be (1.87±0.09±0.12)×10−4, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic, with a precision that is improved by a factor of 1.4 over the previously published BESIII measurement.

We study the direct production of the JPC=1++ charmonium state χc1(1P) in electron-positron annihilation by carrying out an energy scan around the mass of the χc1(1P). The data was collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. An interference pattern between the signal process e+e−→χc1(1P)→γJ/ψ→γμ+μ− and the background processes e+e−→γISRJ/ψ→γISRμ+μ− and e+e−→γISRμ+μ− is observed by combining all the data samples. The χc1(1P) signal is observed with a significance of 5.1σ. This is the first observation of a C-even state directly produced in e+e− annihilation. The electronic width of the χc1(1P) resonance is determined to be Γee=(0.12+0.13−0.08) eV, which is of the same order of magnitude as theoretical calculations.

Based on a sample of 448.1×106 ψ(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector, a study of ψ(3686)→ΛΛ¯π0 and ψ(3686)→ΛΛ¯η is performed. Evidence of the isospin-violating decay ψ(3686)→ΛΛ¯π0 is found for the first time with a statistical significance of 3.7σ, the branching fraction B(ψ(3686)→ΛΛ¯π0) is measured to be (1.42±0.39±0.59)×10−6, and its corresponding upper limit is determined to be 2.47×10−6 at 90\% confidence level. A partial wave analysis of ψ(3686)→ΛΛ¯η shows that the peak around Λη invariant mass threshold favors a Λ∗ resonance with mass and width in agreement with the Λ(1670). The branching fraction of the ψ(3686)→ΛΛ¯η is measured to be (2.34±0.18±0.52)×10−5. The first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic.
Measurement of e⁺e⁻ → ΛΛ¯η from 3.5106 to 4.6988 GeV and study of ΛΛ¯ mass threshold enhancement
(2023)
Using data samples with a total integrated luminosity of approximately 18 fb−1 collected by the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII, the process e+e−→ΛΛ¯η is studied at center-of-mass energies between 3.5106 and 4.6988 GeV. The Born cross section for the process e+e−→ΛΛ¯η is measured. No significant structure is observed in the Born cross section line shape. An enhancement near the ΛΛ¯ mass threshold is observed for the first time in the process. The structure can be described by an S-wave Breit-Wigner function. Neglecting contribution of excited Λ states and potential interferences, the mass and width are determined to be (2356±7±17) MeV/c2 and (304±28±54) MeV, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic.
There has recently been a dramatic renewal of interest in hadron spectroscopy and charm physics. This renaissance has been driven in part by the discovery of a plethora of charmonium-like XYZ states at BESIII and B factories, and the observation of an intriguing proton-antiproton threshold enhancement and the possibly related X(1835) meson state at BESIII, as well as the threshold measurements of charm mesons and charm baryons.
We present a detailed survey of the important topics in tau-charm physics and hadron physics that can be further explored at BESIII during the remaining operation period of BEPCII. This survey will help in the optimization of the data-taking plan over the coming years, and provides physics motivation for the possible upgrade of BEPCII to higher luminosity.
A partial-wave analysis of the decay 𝐽/𝜓→𝐾+𝐾−𝜋0 has been made using (223.7±1.4)×106 𝐽/𝜓 events collected with the BESIII detector in 2009. The analysis, which is performed within the isobar-model approach, reveals contributions from 𝐾*2(1430)±, 𝐾*2(1980)± and 𝐾*4(2045)± decaying to 𝐾±𝜋0. The two latter states are observed in 𝐽/𝜓 decays for the first time. Two resonance signals decaying to 𝐾+𝐾− are also observed. These contributions cannot be reliably identified and their possible interpretations are discussed. The measured branching fraction 𝐵(𝐽/𝜓→𝐾+𝐾−𝜋0) of (2.88±0.01±0.12)×10−3 is more precise than previous results. Branching fractions for the reported contributions are presented as well. The results of the partial-wave analysis differ significantly from those previously obtained by BESII and BABAR.
We measure the Born cross sections of the process 𝑒+𝑒−→𝐾+𝐾−𝐾+𝐾− at center-of-mass (c.m.) energies, √𝑠, between 2.100 and 3.080 GeV. The data were collected using the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. An enhancement at √𝑠=2.232 GeV is observed, very close to the 𝑒+𝑒−→Λ¯Λ production threshold. A similar enhancement at the same c.m. energy is observed in the 𝑒+𝑒−→𝜙𝐾+𝐾− cross section. The energy dependence of the 𝐾+𝐾−𝐾+𝐾− and 𝜙𝐾+𝐾− cross sections differs significantly from that of 𝑒+𝑒−→𝜙𝜋+𝜋−.
Using a 2.93 fb−1 data sample of electron-positron collisions taken with the BESIII detector at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV, which corresponds to (8296±31±64)×103D+D− pairs, we search for the baryon and lepton number violating decays D+→Λ¯(Σ¯0)e+ and D+→Λ(Σ0)e+. No obvious signals are found with the current statistics and upper limits on the branching fractions of these four decays are set at the level of 10−6 at 90% confidence level.
Using 448 million ψ(2S) events, the spin-singlet P-wave charmonium state hc(11P1) is studied via the ψ(2S)→π0hc decay followed by the hc→γηc transition. The branching fractions are measured to be BInc(ψ(2S)→π0hc)×BTag(hc→γηc)=(4.22+0.27−0.26±0.19)×10−4 , BInc(ψ(2S)→π0hc)=(7.32±0.34±0.41)×10−4, and BTag(hc→γηc)=(57.66+3.62−3.50±0.58)%, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. The hc(11P1) mass and width are determined to be M=(3525.32±0.06±0.15) MeV/c2 and Γ=(0.78+0.27−0.24±0.12) MeV. Using the center of gravity mass of the three χcJ(13PJ) mesons (M(c.o.g.)), the 1P hyperfine mass splitting is estimated to be Δhyp=M(hc)−M(c.o.g.)=(0.03±0.06±0.15) MeV/c2, which is consistent with the expectation that the 1P hyperfine splitting is zero at the lowest-order.
Using 𝑒+𝑒−→Λ+𝑐¯Λ−𝑐 production from a 567 pb−1 data sample collected by BESIII at 4.6 GeV, a full angular analysis is carried out simultaneously on the four decay modes of Λ+𝑐→𝑝𝐾0𝑆, Λ𝜋+, Σ+𝜋0, and Σ0𝜋+. For the first time, the Λ+𝑐 transverse polarization is studied in unpolarized 𝑒+𝑒− collisions, where a nonzero effect is observed with a statistical significance of 2.1𝜎. The decay asymmetry parameters of the Λ+𝑐 weak hadronic decays into 𝑝𝐾0𝑆, Λ𝜋+, Σ+𝜋0 and Σ0𝜋+ are measured to be 0.18±0.43(stat)±0.14(syst), −0.80±0.11(stat)±0.02(syst), −0.57±0.10(stat)±0.07(syst), and −0.73±0.17(stat)±0.07(syst), respectively. In comparison with previous results, the measurements for the Λ𝜋+ and Σ+𝜋0 modes are consistent but with improved precision, while the parameters for the 𝑝𝐾0𝑆 and Σ0𝜋+ modes are measured for the first time.
Using a sample of (448.1±2.9)×106 ψ(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector, we perform the first partial wave analysis of ψ(3686)→K+K−η. In addition to the well established states, ϕ(1020), ϕ(1680), and K∗3(1780), contributions from X(1750), ρ(2150), ρ3(2250), and K∗2(1980) are also observed. The X(1750) state is determined to be a 1−− resonance. The simultaneous observation of the ϕ(1680) and X(1750) indicates that the X(1750), with previous observations in photoproduction, is distinct from the ϕ(1680). The masses, widths, branching fractions of ψ(3686)→K+K−η and the intermediate resonances are also measured.
By analyzing a 2.93~fb−1 data sample of e+e− collisions, recorded at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector operated at the BEPCII collider, we have searched for the semileptonic D+ transition into the axial-vector meson K¯1(1270)0. The D+→K¯1(1270)0e+νe decay is observed for the first time with a statistical significance greater than 10σ. Its decay branching fraction is determined to be B[D+→K¯1(1270)0e+νe]=(2.30±0.26±0.18±0.25)×10−3, where the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively, and the third originates from the input branching fraction of K¯1(1270)0→K−π+π0.
