We report the first observation of the semimuonic decay 𝐷+→𝜔𝜇+𝜈𝜇 using an 𝑒+𝑒− collision data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.93 fb−1 collected with the BESIII detector at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV. The absolute branching fraction of the 𝐷+→𝜔𝜇+𝜈𝜇 decay is measured to be ℬ𝐷+→𝜔𝜇+𝜈𝜇=(17.7±1.8stat±1.1syst)×10−4. Its ratio with the world average value of the branching fraction of the 𝐷+→𝜔𝑒+𝜈𝑒 decay probes lepton flavor universality and it is determined to be ℬ𝐷+→𝜔𝜇+𝜈𝜇/ℬPDG 𝐷+→𝜔𝑒+𝜈𝑒=1.05±0.14, in agreement with the standard model expectation within one standard deviation.
By analyzing a 2.93~fb−1 data sample of e+e− collisions, recorded at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector operated at the BEPCII collider, we have searched for the semileptonic D+ transition into the axial-vector meson K¯1(1270)0. The D+→K¯1(1270)0e+νe decay is observed for the first time with a statistical significance greater than 10σ. Its decay branching fraction is determined to be B[D+→K¯1(1270)0e+νe]=(2.30±0.26±0.18±0.25)×10−3, where the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively, and the third originates from the input branching fraction of K¯1(1270)0→K−π+π0.
By analyzing e+e− annihilation da ta corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.93 fb−1 collected at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the \text{BESIII} detector, the first observation of the semileptonic decays D0→K0Sπ−π0e+νe and D+→K0Sπ+π−e+νe is reported. With a dominant hadronic contribution from K1(1270), the branching fractions are measured to be B(D0→K1(1270)−(→K0Sπ−π0)e+νe) = (1.69+0.53−0.46±0.15)×10−4 and B(D+→K¯1(1270)0(→K0Sπ+π−)e+νe) = (1.47+0.45−0.40±0.20)×10−4 with statistical significance of 5.4σ and 5.6σ, respectively. When combined with measurements of the K1(1270)→K+π−π decays, the absolute branching fractions are determined to be B(D0→K1(1270)−e+νe) = (1.05+0.33−0.28±0.12±0.12)×10−3 and B(D+→K¯1(1270)0e+νe) = (1.29+0.40−0.35±0.18±0.15)×10−3. The first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively, and the third uncertainties originate from the assumed branching fractions of the K1(1270)→Kππ decays.
Using an 𝑒+𝑒− collision data sample of 2.93 fb−1 collected at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV by the BESIII detector at BEPCII, we report the observation of 𝐷0→𝑎0(980)−𝑒+𝜈𝑒 and evidence for 𝐷+→𝑎0(980)0𝑒+𝜈𝑒 with significances of 6.4𝜎 and 2.9𝜎, respectively. The absolute branching fractions are determined to be ℬ(𝐷0→𝑎0(980)−𝑒+𝜈𝑒)×ℬ(𝑎0(980)−→𝜂𝜋−) = [1.33+0.33−0.29(stat)±0.09(syst)]×10−4 and ℬ(𝐷+→𝑎0(980)0𝑒+𝜈𝑒)×ℬ(𝑎0(980)0→𝜂𝜋0)=[1.66+0.81
−0.66(stat)±0.11(syst)]×10−4. This is the first time the 𝑎0(980) meson has been measured in a 𝐷0 semileptonic decay, which would open one more interesting page in the investigation of the nature of the puzzling 𝑎0(980) states.
We report the first observation of D+→τ+ντ with a significance of 5.1σ. We measure B(D+→τ+ντ)=(1.20±0.24stat.±0.12syst.)×10−3. Taking the world average B(D+→μ+νμ)=(3.74±0.17)×10−4, we obtain Rτ/μ=Γ(D+→τ+ντ)/Γ(D+→μ+νμ)=3.21±0.64stat.±0.43syst., which is consistent with the Standard Model expectation of lepton flavor universality. Using external inputs, our results give values for the D+ decay constant fD+ and the CKM matrix element |Vcd| that are consistent with, but less precise than, other determinations.
The decays J/ψ→ηΣ+Σ¯− and ψ(3686)→ηΣ+Σ¯− are observed for the first time, using (10087±44)×106 J/ψ and (448.1±2.9)×106 ψ(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. We determine the branching fractions of these two decays to be B(J/ψ→ηΣ+Σ¯−)=(6.34±0.21±0.37)×10−5 and B(ψ(3686)→ηΣ+Σ¯−)=(9.59±2.37±0.61)×10−6, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. The ratio of these two branching fractions is determined to be B(ψ(3686)→ηΣ+Σ¯−)B(J/ψ→ηΣ+Σ¯−)=(15.1±3.8)%, which is in agreement with the "12\% rule."
Using a data sample of (448.1±2.9)×106 𝜓(3686) decays collected at an 𝑒+𝑒− center-of-mass energy of 3.686 GeV by the BESIII detector at Beijing Electron Positron Collider II, we report an observation of the hindered electromagnetic Dalitz decay 𝜓(3686)→𝑒+𝑒−𝜂𝑐 with a significance of 7.9𝜎. The branching fraction is determined to be ℬ(𝜓(3686)→𝑒+𝑒−𝜂𝑐)=(3.77±0.40stat±0.18syst)×10−5, agreeing well with the prediction of the vector meson dominance model. This is the first measurement of the electromagnetic Dalitz transition between the 𝜓(3686) and the 𝜂𝑐, which provides new insight into the electromagnetic properties of this decay, and offers new opportunities to measure the absolute branching fractions of 𝜂𝑐 decays.
The decays of χc2→K+K−π0, KSK±π∓ and π+π−π0 are studied with the ψ(3686) data samples collected with the Beijing Spectrometer (BESIII). For the first time, the branching fractions of χc2→K∗K¯¯¯¯¯, χc2→a±2(1320)π∓/a02(1320)π0 and χc2→ρ(770)±π∓ are measured. Here K∗K¯¯¯¯¯ denotes both K∗±K∓ and K∗0K¯¯¯¯¯0+c.c., and K∗ denotes the resonances K∗(892), K∗2(1430) and K∗3(1780). The observations indicate a strong violation of the helicity selection rule in χc2 decays into vector and pseudoscalar meson pairs. The measured branching fractions of χc2→K∗(892)K¯¯¯¯¯ are more than 20 times larger than that of χc2→ρ(770)±π∓, which implies the effects are largely due to U-spin symmetry breaking, rather than just isospin symmetry breaking in charmonium decays.
The measured branching fractions of χc2→K∗(892)K¯¯¯¯¯ are more than 10 times larger than the upper limit of χc2→ρ(770)±π∓, which is so far the first direct observation of a significant U-spin symmetry breaking effect in charmonium decays.
The decays of χc2→K+K−π0, KSK±π∓ and π+π−π0 are studied with the ψ(3686) data samples collected with the Beijing Spectrometer (BESIII). Based on 3.19 fb−1 of e+e− collision data accumulated at the center-of-mass energy 4.178 GeV with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, the electromagnetic Dalitz decay D∗0→D0e+e− is observed for the first time with a statistical significance of 13.2σ. The ratio of the branching fraction of D∗0→D0e+e− to that of D∗0→D0γ is measured to be (11.08±0.76±0.49)×10−3. By using the world average value of the branching fraction of D∗0→D0γ, the branching fraction of D∗0→D0e+e− is determined to be (3.91±0.27±0.17±0.10)×10−3, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic and the third external branching fractions.
By analyzing e+e− annihilation data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.93fb−1 collected at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773\,GeV with the BESIII detector, we report the first observations of the doubly Cabibbo-suppressed decays D+→K+π0π0 and D+→K+π0η. The branching fractions of D+→K+π0π0 and D+→K+π0η are measured to be (2.1±0.4stat±0.1syst)×10−4 and (2.1±0.5stat±0.1syst)×10−4 with statistical significances of 8.8σ and 5.5σ, respectively. In addition, we search for the subprocesses D+→K∗(892)+π0 and D+→K∗(892)+η with K∗(892)+→K+π0. The branching fraction of D+→K∗(892)+η is determined to be (4.4+1.8−1.5stat±0.2syst)×10−4, with a statistical significance of 3.2σ. No significant signal for D+→K∗(892)+π0 is found and we set an upper limit on the branching fraction of this decay at the 90\% confidence level to be 5.4×10−4.

The branching fractions of D+→K+π0π0 and D+→K+π0η are measured to be (2.1±0.4stat±0.1syst)×10−4 and (2.1±0.6stat±0.1syst)×10−4 with statistical significances of 8.0σ and 5.0σ, respectively. In addition, we search for the subprocesses D+→K∗(892)+π0 and D+→K∗(892)+η with K∗(892)+→K+π0. The branching fraction of D+→K∗(892)+η is determined to be (4.7+1.9−1.6stat±0.2syst)×10−4, with a statistical significance of 3.3σ. No significant signal for D+→K∗(892)+π0 is found and we set an upper limit on the branching fraction of this decay at the 90\% confidence level to be 4.5×10−4.

Using 2.93 fb−1 of 𝑒+𝑒− collision data collected at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector, the first observation of the doubly Cabibbo-suppressed decay 𝐷+→𝐾+𝜋+𝜋−𝜋0 is reported. After removing decays that contain narrow intermediate resonances, including 𝐷+→𝐾+𝜂, 𝐷+→𝐾+𝜔, and 𝐷+→𝐾+𝜙, the branching fraction of the decay 𝐷+→𝐾+𝜋+𝜋−𝜋0 is measured to be (1.13±0.08stat±0.03syst)×10−3. The ratio of branching fractions of 𝐷+→𝐾+𝜋+𝜋−𝜋0 over 𝐷+→𝐾−𝜋+𝜋+𝜋0 is found to be (1.81±0.15)%, which corresponds to (6.28±0.52)tan4𝜃𝐶, where 𝜃𝐶 is the Cabibbo mixing angle. This ratio is significantly larger than the corresponding ratios for other doubly Cabibbo-suppressed decays. The asymmetry of the branching fractions of charge-conjugated decays 𝐷±→𝐾±𝜋±𝜋∓𝜋0 is also determined, and no evidence for 𝐶𝑃 violation is found. In addition, the first evidence for the 𝐷+→𝐾+𝜔 decay, with a statistical significance of 3.3𝜎, is presented and the branching fraction is measured to be ℬ(𝐷+→𝐾+𝜔) = (5.7+2.5−2.1stat±0.2syst)×10−5.
Based on (10087±44)×106 𝐽/𝜓 events collected with the BESIII detector at BEPCII, the double Dalitz decay 𝜂′→𝑒+𝑒−𝑒+𝑒− is observed for the first time via the 𝐽/𝜓→𝛾𝜂′ decay process. The significance is found to be 5.7𝜎 with systematic uncertainties taken into consideration. Its branching fraction is determined to be ℬ(𝜂′→𝑒+𝑒−𝑒+𝑒−)=(4.5±1.0(stat)±0.5(sys))×10−6.
Using a data sample of (448.1±2.9)×106 ψ(3686) decays collected by the BESIII detector at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider (BEPCII), we observe the decays χcJ→ϕϕη (J=0, 1, 2), where the χcJ are produced via the radiative processes ψ(3686)→γχcJ. The branching fractions are measured to be B(χc0→ϕϕη)=(8.41±0.74±0.62)×10−4, B(χc1→ϕϕη)=(2.96±0.43±0.22)×10−4, and B(χc2→ϕϕη)=(5.33±0.52±0.39)×10−4, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. We also search for intermediate states in the ϕϕ or ηϕ combinations, but no significant structure is seen due to the limited statistics.
The decays 𝜒𝑐𝐽→Σ0¯𝑝𝐾++c.c. (𝐽=0,1,2) are studied via the radiative transition 𝜓(3686)→𝛾𝜒𝑐𝐽 based on a data sample of (448.1±2.9)×106 𝜓(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector. The branching fractions of 𝜒𝑐𝐽→Σ0¯𝑝𝐾++c.c. (𝐽=0,1,2) are measured to be (3.03±0.12±0.15)×10−4, (1.46±0.07±0.07)×10−4, and (0.91±0.06±0.05)×10−4, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. In addition, no evident structure is found for excited baryon resonances on the two-body subsystems with the limited statistics.
By analyzing 4.48×108 ψ(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector, we observe the decays χcJ→nK0SΛ¯+c.c. (J=0, 1, 2) for the first time, via the radiative transition ψ(3686)→γχcJ. The branching fractions are determined to be (6.67±0.26stat±0.41syst)×10−4, (1.71±0.12stat±0.12syst)×10−4, and (3.66±0.17stat±0.23syst)×10−4 for J=0, 1, and 2, respectively.
Using (448.1 ± 2.9) × 106 ψ(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, the decay ψ(3686) → Σ⁻Σ‾⁺ is observed for the first time with a branching fraction of (2.82 ± 0.04stat. ± 0.08syst.) × 10−4, and the angular parameter αΣ− is measured to be 0.96 ± 0.09stat. ± 0.03syst..
Using an 𝑒+𝑒− collision data sample of (27.08±0.14)×108 𝜓(3686) events collected by the BESIII detector, we report the first observation of 𝜒𝑐𝐽→Ω−¯Ω+ (𝐽=0, 1, 2) decays with significances of 5.6𝜎, 6.4𝜎, and 18𝜎, respectively, where the 𝜒𝑐𝐽 mesons are produced in the radiative 𝜓(3686) decays. The branching fractions are determined to be ℬ(𝜒𝑐0→Ω−¯Ω+) = (3.51±0.54±0.29)×10−5, ℬ(𝜒𝑐1→Ω−¯Ω+)=(1.49±0.23±0.10)×10−5, and ℬ(𝜒𝑐2→Ω−¯Ω+)=(4.52±0.24±0.18)×10−5, where the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively.
We report the first observation of the decay Λ+c→Σ−π+π+π0, based on data obtained in e+e− annihilations with an integrated luminosity of 567~pb−1 at s√=4.6~GeV. The data were collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage rings. The absolute branching fraction B(Λ+c→Σ−π+π+π0) is determined to be (2.11±0.33(stat.)±0.14(syst.))%. In addition, an improved measurement of B(Λ+c→Σ−π+π+) is determined as (1.81±0.17(stat.)±0.09(syst.))%.
Using a total of 9.0 fb−1 of e+e− collision data with center-of-mass energies between 4.15 and 4.30 GeV collected by the BESIII detector, we search for the processes e+e−→γX(3872) with X(3872)→π0χcJ for J=0,1,2. We report the first observation of X(3872)→π0χc1, a new decay mode of the X(3872), with a statistical significance of more than 5σ. Normalizing to the previously established process e+e−→γX(3872) with X(3872)→π+π−J/ψ, we find B(X(3872)→π0χc1)/B(X(3872)→π+π−J/ψ)=0.88+0.33−0.27±0.10, where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic. We set 90% confidence level upper limits on the corresponding ratios for the decays to π0χc0 and π0χc2 of 19 and 1.1, respectively.
Using a data sample of (10087±44)×106 J/ψ events collected by the BESIII detector in 2009, 2012, 2018 and 2019, the electromagnetic Dalitz process J/ψ→e+e−η(1405) is observed via the decay η(1405)→π0f0(980), f0(980)→π+π−, with a significance of about 9.6σ. The branching fraction of this decay is measured to be B(J/ψ→e+e−π0η(1405)→e+e−π0f0(980)→e+e−π0π+π−)=(2.02±0.24(stat.)±0.09(syst.))×10−7. The branching-fraction ratio B(J/ψ→e+e−η(1405))/B(J/ψ→γη(1405)) is determined to be (1.35±0.19(stat.)±0.06(syst.))×10−2. Furthermore, an e+e− invariant-mass dependent transition form factor of J/ψ→e+e−η(1405) is presented for the first time. The obtained result provides input for different theoretical models, and is valuable for the improved understanding the intrinsic structure of the η(1405) meson.

By analyzing an e+e− annihilation data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.93 fb−1 collected at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector, we measure the branching fraction of the D0→ρ−μ+νμ decay for the first time. We obtain BD0→ρ−μ+νμ=(1.35±0.09stat±0.09syst)×10−3. Using the world average of BD0→ρ−e+νe, we find a branching fraction ratio of BD0→ρ−μ+νμ/BD0→ρ−e+νe=0.90±0.11, which agrees with the theoretical expectation of lepton flavor universality within the uncertainty. Combining the world average of BD+→ρ0μ+νμ and the lifetimes of D0(+), we obtain a partial decay width ratio of ΓD0→ρ−μ+νμ/(2ΓD+→ρ0μ+νμ)=0.71±0.14, which is consistent with the isospin symmetry expectation of one within 2.1σ. For the reported values of BD0→ρ−μ+νμ/BD0→ρ−e+νe and ΓD0→ρ−μ+νμ/2ΓD+→ρ0μ+νμ, the uncertainty is the quadratic sum of the statistical and systematic uncertainties.

We present measurements of the Born cross sections for the processes e+e−→ωχc1 and ωχc2 at center-of-mass energies s√ from 4.308 to 4.951 GeV. The measurements are performed with data samples corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 11.0 fb−1 collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring. Assuming the e+e−→ωχc2 signals come from a single resonance, the mass and width are determined to be M=(4413.6±9.0±0.8) MeV/c2 and Γ=(110.5±15.0±2.9) MeV, respectively, which is consistent with the parameters of the well-established resonance ψ(4415). In addition, we also use one single resonance to describe the e+e−→ωχc1 lineshape, and determine the mass and width to be M=(4544.2±18.7±1.7) MeV/c2 and Γ=(116.1±33.5±1.7) MeV, respectively. The structure of this lineshape, observed for the first time, requires further understanding.
We present cross sections for the reaction e+e−→K0SK0L at center-of-mass energies ranging from 3.51 GeV to 4.95 GeV using data samples collected in the BESIII experiment, corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 26.5 fb−1. The ratio of neutral-to-charged kaon form factors at large momentum transfers (12 GeV2<Q2<25 GeV2) is determined to be 0.21±0.01, which indicates a small but significant effect of flavor-SU(3) breaking in the kaon wave function, and consequently excludes the possibility that flavor-SU(3) breaking is the primary reason for the strong experimental violation of the pQCD prediction |F(π±)|/|F(K±)|=f2π/f2K, where F(π±) and F(K±) are the form factors, and fπ and fK are the decay constants of charged pions and kaons, respectively. We also observe a significant signal for the charmless decay ψ(3770)→K0SK0L for the first time. Within a 1σ contour of the likelihood value, the the branching fraction for ψ(3770)→K0SK0L is determined to be B=(2.63+1.40−1.59)×10−5, and the relative phase between the continuum and ψ(3770) amplitudes is ϕ=(−0.39+0.05−0.10)π. The branching fraction is in good agreement with the S- and D-wave charmonia mixing scheme proposed in the interpretation of the "ρπ puzzle" between J/ψ and ψ(3686) decays.

Observation of resonance structures in e⁺e⁻ → π⁺π⁻ψ₂(3823) and mass measurement of ψ₂(3823)
(2022)
Using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 11.3 fb−1 collected at center-of-mass energies from 4.23 to 4.70 GeV with the BESIII detector, we measure the product of the 𝑒+𝑒−→𝜋+𝜋−𝜓2(3823) cross section and the branching fraction ℬ[𝜓2(3823)→𝛾𝜒𝑐1]. For the first time, resonance structure is observed in the cross section line shape of 𝑒+𝑒−→𝜋+𝜋−𝜓2(3823) with significances exceeding 5𝜎. A fit to data with two coherent Breit-Wigner resonances modeling the √𝑠-dependent cross section yields 𝑀(𝑅1)=4406.9±17.2±4.5 MeV/𝑐2, Γ(𝑅1)=128.1±37.2±2.3 MeV, and 𝑀(𝑅2)=4647.9±8.6±0.8 MeV/𝑐2, Γ(𝑅2)=33.1±18.6±4.1 MeV. Though weakly disfavored by the data, a single resonance with 𝑀(𝑅)=4417.5±26.2±3.5 MeV/𝑐2, Γ(𝑅)=245±48±13 MeV is also possible to interpret data. This observation deepens our understanding of the nature of the vector charmoniumlike states. The mass of the 𝜓2(3823) state is measured as (3823.12±0.43±0.13) MeV/𝑐2, which is the most precise measurement to date.
Using a sample of about 1010 𝐽/𝜓 events collected at a center-of-mass energy √𝑠=3.097 GeV with the BESIII detector, the electromagnetic Dalitz decays 𝐽/𝜓→𝑒+𝑒−𝜋+𝜋−𝜂′, with 𝜂′→𝛾𝜋+𝜋− and 𝜂′→𝜋+𝜋−𝜂, have been studied. The decay 𝐽/𝜓→𝑒+𝑒−𝑋(1835) is observed with a significance of 15𝜎, and also an 𝑒+𝑒− invariant-mass dependent transition form factor of 𝐽/𝜓→𝑒+𝑒−𝑋(1835) is presented for the first time. The intermediate states 𝑋(2120) and 𝑋(2370) are also observed in the 𝜋+𝜋−𝜂′ invariant-mass spectrum with significances of 5.3𝜎 and 7.3𝜎. The corresponding product branching fractions for 𝐽/𝜓→𝑒+𝑒−𝑋, 𝑋→𝜋+𝜋−𝜂′ [𝑋=𝑋(1835), 𝑋(2120), and 𝑋(2370)] are reported.
Using a data sample of 4.481×108 𝜓(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector, we report the first observation of the four-lepton-decays 𝐽/𝜓→𝑒+𝑒−𝑒+𝑒− and 𝐽/𝜓→𝑒+𝑒−𝜇+𝜇− utilizing the process 𝜓(3686)→𝜋+𝜋−𝐽/𝜓. The branching fractions are determined to be [5.48±0.31(stat)±0.45(syst)]×10−5 and [3.53±0.22(stat)±0.13(syst)]×10−5, respectively. The results are consistent with theoretical predictions. No significant signal is observed for 𝐽/𝜓→𝜇+𝜇−𝜇+𝜇−, and an upper limit on the branching fraction is set at 1.6×10−6 at the 90% confidence level. A 𝐶𝑃 asymmetry observable is constructed for the first two channels, which is measured to be (−0.012±0.054±0.010) and (0.062±0.059±0.006), respectively. No evidence for 𝐶𝑃 violation is observed in this process.
The strong force, as one of the four fundamental forces at work in the universe, governs interactions of quarks and gluons, and binds together the atomic nucleus. Notwithstanding decades of progress since Yukawa first developed a description of the force between nucleons in terms of meson exchange, a full understanding of the strong interaction remains a major challenge in modern science. One remaining difficulty arises from the non-perturbative nature of the strong force, which leads to the phenomenon of quark confinement at distance scales on the order of the size of the proton. Here we show that in relativistic heavy-ion collisions, where quarks and gluons are set free over an extended volume, two species of produced vector (spin-1) mesons, namely ϕ and K∗0, emerge with a surprising pattern of global spin alignment. In particular, the global spin alignment for ϕ is unexpectedly large, while that for K∗0 is consistent with zero. The observed spin-alignment pattern and magnitude for the ϕ cannot be explained by conventional mechanisms, while a model with strong force fields accommodates the current data. This is the first time that the strong force field is experimentally supported as a key mechanism that leads to global spin alignment. We extract a quantity proportional to the intensity of the field of the strong force. Within the framework of the Standard Model, where the strong force is typically described in the quark and gluon language of Quantum Chromodynamics, the field being considered here is an effective proxy description. This is a qualitatively new class of measurement, which opens a new avenue for studying the behaviour of strong force fields via their imprint on spin alignment.

Several intermediate states of the reaction channels 𝑒+𝑒−→𝜋+𝜋−𝐷0¯𝐷0 and 𝑒+𝑒−→𝜋+𝜋−𝐷+𝐷− are studied using the data samples collected with the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies above 4.08 GeV. For the first time in this final state, a 𝜓(3770) signal is seen in the 𝐷¯𝐷 invariant mass spectrum, with a statistical significance of 5.2𝜎 at √𝑠=4.42 GeV. There is also evidence for this resonance at √𝑠=4.26 and 4.36 GeV with statistical significance of 3.2𝜎 and 3.3𝜎, respectively. In addition, the Born cross section of 𝑒+𝑒−→𝜋+𝜋−𝜓(3770) is measured. The proposed heavy-quark-spin-symmetry partner of the 𝑋(3872), the state 𝑋2(4013), is also searched for in the 𝐷¯𝐷 invariant mass spectra. No obvious signal is found. The upper limit of the Born cross section of the process 𝑒+𝑒−→𝜌0𝑋2(4013) combined with the branching fraction is measured. Also, the processes 𝑒+𝑒−→𝐷1(2420)¯𝐷+c.c. are investigated. The neutral mode with 𝐷1(2420)0→𝐷0𝜋+𝜋− is reported with statistical significance of 7.4𝜎 at √𝑠=4.42 GeV for the first time, and evidence with statistical significance of 3.2𝜎 and 3.3𝜎 at √𝑠=4.36 and 4.60 GeV is seen, respectively. No evident signal for the process 𝑒+𝑒−→𝐷1(2420)0¯𝐷0+c.c.,𝐷1(2420)0→𝐷*+𝜋− is reported. Evidence for 𝑒+𝑒−→𝐷1(2420)+𝐷−+c.c.,𝐷1(2420)+→𝐷+𝜋+𝜋− is reported with statistical significance of 3.1𝜎 and 3.0𝜎 at √𝑠=4.36 and 4.42 GeV, respectively.
Using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 11.3 fb−1 collected at center-of-mass energies from 4.23 to 4.70 GeV with the BESIII detector, we observe the process e+e− → π0π0ψ2(3823) for the first time with a statistical significance of 6.0 standard deviations. The ratio of average cross sections for e+e− → π0π0ψ2(3823) and π+π−ψ2(3823) is determined to be R = σ[e+e− → π0π0ψ2(3823)] σ[e+e−→π+π−ψ2(3823)] = 0.57 ± 0.14 ± 0.05, which is consistent with expectations from isospin symmetry. Here and below, the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. The mass of the ψ2(3823) is measured to be M[ψ2(3823)] = 3824.5±2.4±1.0 MeV/c2. Due to the limited data sample, an upper limit of 18.8 MeV at 90% confidence level is set on the intrinsic width of ψ2(3823).
Using a total of 5.25 fb−1 of e+e− collision data with center-of-mass energies from 4.236 to 4.600 GeV, we report the first observation of the process e+e− → ηψ(2S) with a statistical significance of 4.9 standard deviations. The data sets were collected by the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring. We measure the yield of events integrated over center-of-mass energies and also present the energy dependence of the measured cross section.
