Bilimsel Metin Üretimi
(2014)
Rezension zu Canan Şenöz Ayata: Bilimsel Metin Üretimi. İstanbul: Papatya Yayıncılık Eğitim, 2014.
This paper aims to investigate the dynamics of text-image interplay as exemplified by various text types applied to second language teaching and translation didactics. Based on examples of texts from the fields of Science, Technology, Literature and Language Teaching, the authors attempt to assess both successful and unsuccessful instances of the application of iconical resources in text production. Some didactic consequences are discussed.
The aim of this article is to systematize selected existing definitions of texts and, from the perspective of research into text comprehension, to compare and contextualize the most frequent concepts applied in the field. These concepts are used in the description of the basic phases and aspects of the text comprehension process; they may be divided into three groups depending on whether they denote the comprehension process itself, the results of this process, or the properties of text. This division should not be viewed as an immutable set of concepts, but rather as a starting point for research into issues of text comprehension and comprehensibility.
Schoolbooks
(2006)
According to UNESCO estimates, there are approximately one billion people in the world who can neither read nor write. One sixth of the world population has never seen a schoolbook. In contrast, reading and writing in the industrialized nations are such commonplace objects of everyday life that they are completely taken for granted. We are taught to read and write at school, where we gain access to the cultural tool ofwriting, and it is this that forms the basis for all our further leaming activities. The teaching aids used in schools to impart us the skills of literacy are themselves based on the medium of writing. We can all remember what it was like to write things down on paper and in exercise books, to organize our notes in files, and to read up new information in text books. By teaching literacy to the individual, the schools as an institution are laying the foundation stone of literacy skills for entire societies. Many important developmental stages of this process in Europe took place in the Middle Ages, and the schools functioned as a dual participating force in this process. First of all, they were the institution in which competence in literacy was acquired, and they were themselves involved in leaming how best to communicate this task with the aid of the instruments of literacy. These tools, as employed in the schools, have undergone transformation over the centuries. Schoolbooks themselves have also had to adapt, to cope with the demands of literacy.
The contribution deals with a selected lexical field related to the emotion 'anger'. It is treated from a German-Czech perspective and with respect to its underlying psychological aspects. It begins by investigating the nature of lexical fields, and explains the framework of the chosen field in terms of its content and form. On this basis the author tries to find an answer to the question whether this particular field can in fact be considered to be a lexical field. In conclusion the paper discusses the question of whether psychological findings on emotions generally, and on the emotion of 'anger' in particular, can be of help in establishing both an outer delimitation and an internal structuring of the field.
