Textkompetenz in mehreren Sprachen : Forschungsergebnisse und weiterführende Forschungsansätze
(2014)
The article presents results of an empirical study which examines productive transfer in the area of text skills competence and the associated writing skill which could be attributed to the learners' contact with several languages. The research was conducted within the research project "Multilingualism in the Czech Republik: Learning and Teaching German after English." After a short presentation of the key concepts in the development of the study and a presentation of selected results, implications and a modell for further research in multilingual writing and on transfer processes between languages are introduced.
The article focuses on linguistic means used by professionals when defining specific emotions in psychological texts. Based on a linguistic analysis of selected passages of text, the author describes the metaphorical concepts used in order to make it easier for recipients to understand phenomena whose perception is purely subjective. The role of metaphors in professional language is frequently neglected or underestimated.
The article focuses on the current state of research in simultaneous interpreting (SI), comparing cognitive pragmatic models with cognitive linguistic approaches. The author offers an objective list of the advantages and disadvantages of the cognitive linguistic approach and other models currently used in SI. The aim of the article is not to present a one-sidedly positive assessment of the cognitive linguistic approach, but instead to arrive at a balanced evaluation of the individual approaches and the possibilities offered by the models under investigation. The author also points out further approaches that could be characterized as covertly cognitive.
The paper deals with the theses of so-called Radical Argumentativism, an approach which has been shaped and repeatedly modified by the French linguists Jean-Claude Anscombre and Oswald Ducrot since the end of the 1970s. After a brief summary of the fundamental questions of this approach in the context of research of argumentation, the reception of Anscombre and Ducrot's work in the German research of argumentation is outlined. In the process, the focus of interest lies on Atayan Vahram's book "The Macrostructures of Argumentation in German, French and Italian", published in 2006. Vahram's theses directly rest upon the theoretical basis of Radical Argumentativism. With the help of a discussion of his analysis of the indicators of argumentative weakness and strength, the article presents the advantages and disadvantages of Anscombre and Ducrot's approach, which have previously been received only peripherally in the German context.
This article deals with the topic of dyslexia in adults and its consequences for learning German during university studies; the author explores the extent to which an optimized German text influences understanding. The results of research on dyslexia and psycholinguistic research on text understanding show that depending on the text structure and the simplicity of the linguistic means used, different levels of text understanding may be expected. The main tool of the research is text optimization based on a practical application of the "Hamburg concept of understandability", involving four text properties which make the text understandable to different extents.
(2014)
The article presents some of the outcomes of the contrastive comparison of the Czech original text and its German translation. It tries to show some hidden implications as well as many other peculiarities of wordplay and idiomatic phrases that a reader of the translated text may be deprived of.
