The decays of χc2→K+K−π0, KSK±π∓ and π+π−π0 are studied with the ψ(3686) data samples collected with the Beijing Spectrometer (BESIII). For the first time, the branching fractions of χc2→K∗K¯¯¯¯¯, χc2→a±2(1320)π∓/a02(1320)π0 and χc2→ρ(770)±π∓ are measured. Here K∗K¯¯¯¯¯ denotes both K∗±K∓ and K∗0K¯¯¯¯¯0+c.c., and K∗ denotes the resonances K∗(892), K∗2(1430) and K∗3(1780). The observations indicate a strong violation of the helicity selection rule in χc2 decays into vector and pseudoscalar meson pairs. The measured branching fractions of χc2→K∗(892)K¯¯¯¯¯ are more than 10 times larger than the upper limit of χc2→ρ(770)±π∓, which is so far the first direct observation of a significant U-spin symmetry breaking effect in charmonium decays.

The inclusive J/ψ production has been studied in Pn-Pb and pp collisions at the centre-of-mass energy per nucleon pair sNN−−−√=5.02 TeV, using the ALICE detector at the CERN LHC. The J/ψ meson is reconstructed, in the centre-of-mass rapidity interval 2.5<y<4 and in the transverse-momentum range pT<12 GeV/c, via its decay to a muon pair. In this Letter, we present results on the inclusive J/ψ cross section in pp collisions at s√=5.02 TeV and on the nuclear modification factor RAA. The latter is presented as a function of the centrality of the collision and, for central collisions, as a function of the transverse momentum pT of the J/ψ. The measured RAA values indicate a suppression of the J/ψ in nuclear collisions and are then compared to our previous results obtained in Pb-Pb collisions at sNN−−−√=2.76 TeV. The ratio of the RAA values at the two energies is also computed and compared to calculations of statistical and dynamical models. The numerical value of the ratio for central events (0-10\% centrality) is 1.17±0.04(stat)±0.20(syst). In central events, as a function of pT, a slight increase of RAA with collision energy is visible in the region 2<pT<6 GeV/c. Theoretical calculations provide a good description of the measurements, within uncertainties.
Bioinformatics analysis quantifies neighborhood preferences of cancer cells in Hodgkin lymphoma

Motivation Hodgkin lymphoma is a tumor of the lymphatic system and represents one of the most frequent lymphoma in the Western world. It is characterized by Hodgkin cells and Reed-Sternberg cells, which exhibit a broad morphological spectrum. The cells are visualized by immunohistochemical staining of tissue sections. In pathology, tissue images are mainly manually evaluated, relying on the expertise and experience of pathologists. Computational quantification methods become more and more essential to evaluate tissue images. In particular, the distribution of cancer cells is of great interest.
Results Here, we systematically quantified and investigated cancer cell properties and their spatial neighborhood relations by applying statistical analyses to whole slide images of Hodgkin lymphoma and lymphadenitis, which describes a non-cancerous inflammation of the lymph node. We differentiated cells by their morphology and studied the spatial neighborhood relation of more than 400,000 immunohistochemically stained cells. We found that, according to their morphological features, the cells exhibited significant preferences for and aversions to cells of specific profiles as nearest neighbor. We quantified differences between Hodgkin lymphoma and lymphadenitis concerning the neighborhood relations of cells and the sizes of cells. The approach can easily be applied to other cancer types.
The ALICE experiment has measured the inclusive J/ψ production in Pb-Pb collisions at sNN−−−√=2.76 TeV down to zero transverse momentum in the rapidity range 2.5<y<4. A suppression of the inclusive J/ψ yield in Pb-Pb is observed with respect to the one measured in pp collisions scaled by the number of binary nucleon-nucleon collisions. The nuclear modification factor, integrated over the 0-80% most central collisions, is 0.545±0.032(stat.)±0.083(syst.) and does not exhibit a significant dependence on the collision centrality. These features appear significantly different from measurements at lower collision energies. Models including J/ψ production from charm quarks in a deconfined partonic phase can describe our data.
