The article has considered some poetical dimensions of glocalization in the travelogue "Little Golden America" (1936, English 1937) by Soviet popular novelists Ilya Ilf and Jevgeny Petrov. Definining glocalization as an observation perspective, the reading has shown that in this text glocalization depends on the use of comparison. Together with the travel motion by car, bridging protagonists, photographic experience and humoristic language the author duo provides a prolific picture of the globally dominant US-system but also of Soviet society. The latter one stays an omnipresent reference to which Ilf and Petrov refer as faithful patriots. They criticize harshly the poverty and exploitation which they witness, especially in the Southern states. In conclusion, travel literature is predestinated to reflect the tension between global and local phenomena.
